We were very grateful to be accommodated here at last minute due to our booking at Fen Meadows being cancelled because of flooded pitches.
It is a very luxurious site and everything has been thought of with lovely barn style candlelit restaurant and excellent toilet block. Tennis courts and fishing lake.
Nice walks for dog but without additional transport there is nowhere to get to. Which is why we have never stayed there before - but now we tow a small car so it would be OK except that to our surprise they wanted us to pay £3 a night extra for the car! Why - as our Motorhome and car make a smaller outfit than a family size caravan and large 4 x 4?
Already they charge top price for this site so on principle we would not go back. We have never been asked to pay extra on other sites.

We had a lovely week at this site, our pitch was very spacious, fairly flat and with a large grass area behind it. It was our first ever fully serviced pitch and the warden was very helpful when we had problems with our adapter valve.
All the pitches seem well spaced out, mostly hard standing with some grass ones on the upper terrace. You choose your own pitch then go back to the office and tell them what number you're on. The facilities are very clean and modern and quite centrally placed so none of the pitches are too far away. There are 3 wet rooms in the ladies with shower, toilet and basin as well as the usual toilet cubicles and basins and similar in the gents, where I understand one one occasion the hot water ran out. The site was quite full when we were there but I only once saw someone waiting.
The shop is well stocked and the home-made bread is delicious. There is pot-washing and laundry facilities.
There is no security barrier which we found surprising and maybe a little disconcerting.
We didn't go to the restaurant, as a non-meat eater the menu didn't really do it for me but it seemed very popular.
The dog walk is a public footpath over a little foot bridge and goes round the edge of the site. It is separated from a cow field by an electric fence and please beware, it is live, as our collie found out. The path continues to Pidley and the Black Cat pub – about 20 minutes. The pub has a very nice beer garden with an undercover part and the food was ok. There are several more footpaths at Pidley and we walked to St Ives one day which was a very nice walk through farmland. We weren't too impressed with St Ives itself but we had a fabulous lunch at the Slepe Hall Hotel, dogs are not allowed in but there is a nice terrace at the front. We had some lovely walks along the Great Ouse Way and would particularly recommend the stretch from Houghton to Godmanchester.
We liked the area very much and would be very happy to return to this site.

We were booked in here from Sat-Tues in the middle of August. We had an emergency at home and called to say we would be a day later, no problem.
We arrived at 9. 15 on Sunday morning and there was a lady available in reception to point us in the direction of the pitches.
We liked the fact that you have water and electric point next to every pitch so you don't have to walk far to get water!
One point to mention for the tent pitches is that the walk down to the shower/toilets is quite steep not a problem for us but worth mentioning. I agree with previous comments about showers and toilets being very clean only drawback is that they are closed 11-12am to be cleaned.
We used this site as a base to visit a chilli farm about 40 minutes drive away, we also went into Cambridge and St Ives, if you are a gold player there is a golf club 5 minutes down the road.
Very friendly and peaceful site

We have previously stayed at this campsite and found it to be excellent in terms of facilities, pitches and customer service. One night we ate at their restaurant and felt that for the quality of the food it represented good value for money. We had booked again this year for the August bank holiday weekend as a celebration treat for our wedding anniversary. Sadly 2 weeks before, when leaving a site in Cornwall, which I have also reviewed, the sites exit caused an unhitching of our caravan and we lost it in a ditch.
Despite the fact that we had booked and paid for a peak weekend we were asked about our welfare and unexpectedly offered a full refund by Stroud Hill Park. Very different to the response from the site we had left in Cornwall, which I have also reviewed. When booking last year, despite the fact they had no secured bookings we were told we could not have a better pitch as these were kept for regulars and we were lucky to get a pitch. Due to location, despite the attitude, we booked. We thought we might have better treatment this year but no we were told we could have the same pitch. With no allocated play area on site and our pitch being near the water tap adults and children alike chose to play ball games and drive cars and ride bikes across our pitch as this was the only unavailable space on site. After days of complaint we were finally allocated another pitch for next year. When we phoned the following day to explain about the accident and the fact that we have now been put off towing and asked if she would store our caravan we were told this service is allocated for regulars. Unlike the kind response we received from Stroud Hill Park she did not ask after our welfare, would not offer a refund of our deposit for our very advanced booking and her only concern was that the actual accident did not happen on her premises.
So can highly recommend Stroud Hill Park in every respect and I am very sad to say that I will probably not use again as my wife has lost the nerve for us to tow again. Go to this site you will not be disappointed.

We picked this site as it was an adult only so thought it would be peaceful over the school hollidays - also there is fishing.
The campsite is very well kept and a small shop selling all the necessaries - we didn't eat in the restaurant as felt it was to expensive so walked down to the golf club which was very nice.
We are keen walkers and felt that there were not many walks directly from the site and as we did not have a car this inhibited us. We did cycle around and about and went into St Ives which is lovely.
The shower facilities were very clean however very disappointing in the power of the showers for this price site I expected better and have seen better.
The site does not have pretty views which we are used to having spent most of our time in the Lakes.
The fishing is good although I would say a little too easy and feel that the fact you have to use their own bate a bit of a money spinner but at least you could just switch off and have fun.
The thing that spoilt the whole holiday for us was the fact that the farmers dog barked continuously throughout the night so I had no sleep for the first 2 nights until I went into the village to buy ear plugs. I understand that he had some livestock stolen but surely he should be thinking of his customers as well.
Would I go back here - no as there are far better sites with better facilities for less cost.

An incredibly drab and characterless caravan site situated near the village of Pidley. A good location for visiting Cambridge, we had a nice time in the area. It's just this site that we had a big problem with. You know when you visit a place and it's just depressing - this is one of those places. I didn't like the toilet block as it's difficult not to get your clothes soaked by the shower. The staff are very professional, but also very formal. We wont be returning.

Our first sortie into camping for 20 years. We had an old Conway trailer tent and were unsure of our capabilities.
This site is adults only and had everything for our week-end, including peace and quiet.
We invited friends for dinner on Friday night in the fabulous restaurant and enjoyed local beer and locally sourced food cooked to perfection in amazing style. A late evening stroll around the fishing lake was the perfect end to our first day.
The facilities were beyond first class, with nothing to criticise in the least.
We are going to return now that we have a bit more confidence, and a new tent!
The local area has a number of attractions, from golf and paintballing to fishing, walks and local tourist attractions not too far away.
Go and see this place, it's idyllic.

Site was easy to find using our Sat Nav and accepts late arrivals up to 8pm. Reception were friendly and even let us stay on a bit longer on our day of departure (Sunday) as they were not full.
Not a big site but has hard standing pitches on the ground level and grass pitches on a raised terrace which overlooks the site itself. We went for a grass pitch high up which did get a little blowy at times.
The dog walk is a small strip of field adjacent a field of cows which is separated by an electric fence, which unfortunately one of my dogs came into contact with.
It does lead onto a field but this was very muddy underfoot. We walked part of this route into the village of Pidley, which was about a 15-min walk but consists of just a pub. The pub was very nice and dog friendly.
It is a very quiet site and being adult only added to the peace and tranquillity.

We stayed from Thurs - Sun, arriving about 4.30 pm. The lady on the phone had told us the reception closed at 4pm so just pick our spot and call in the bar after 6pm but she saw us arrive and came out to meet us.
The pitches were all hard standing and most were level but some did have a slight slope all were fully serviced pitches. We picked one at the far end to the left as you drive in(these seemed the levellest at this end of the site).
The toilets/showers were immaculate.Very clean and heated. Each shower cubicle had its own sink and toilet.
The bar and restaurant were very good both inside a converted barn, there was a good selection beers, wines and spirits, also real ale from the Cambridge brewery. We ate in the restaurant on the first night when there was only us and another couple in. The food may have been a little expensive but it was quality food all organic from their own farm or local producers.
We went again on the Saturday and it was packed with a good atmosphere, people were arriving in taxis so it must have a good reputation locally.
There's a good dog walk round the edge of the adjoining golf course or up the hill round the fields.
The village is a fair way away and there arent any shops there just a pub The Mad Cat. But the surrounding farms have shops selling their produce.
St.Ives is about 15 Min's away and is a bustling market town
All in all a very enjoyable stay.
Would we stay here again ? Definitely

We stayed here for a week over the August bank holiday. The site was completely full for the holiday weekend, and with the exception of the couple opposite us on the first night who were very loud, it was extremely peaceful. Being teachers we were glad to be on an adults only site with no children dominating the atmosphere. The site is nicely laid out, the vans being placed on the lower level, and braver souls in tents up on the hill near the fishing pond. It can be windy here so we preferred the more sheltered, lower-lying location. There aren't any real views from the site, although the outlook is pleasant enough.
The facilities are very good. The pitches are level and hard and well spaced. Each pitch has its own electricity, water and drainage point. The only downside is the toilet waste disposal point, which is not very hygienic and there is no drive-over waste water point for motorhomes, you have to use a tank or run a hose into the drain.
There is a nice little shop with lots of useful local produce and a selection of accessories in case you need something for the van - we bought a waste-tank on wheels which we had been meaning to get for ages. The toilets and showers are lovely, heated to a very warm temperature, and the showers are the best I've ever used, with copious hot water and good power, all located in modern wet-rooms. All spotlessly clean. The warden who looks after the site is very helpful and pleasant.
The restaurant looked nice but we didn't eat there. There is a pub in Pidley which also looked fine, and three golf courses (I think) surrounding and adjoining the site. Lots of walks on the paths around and about. Ideal for the dog. We loved the local towns like Huntingdon and St. Ives, where there are lovely riverside walks and open spaces, as well as nice shops and pubs.
We were originally leaving on the Thursday but extended to Sunday as we liked it so much. Will be back, hopefully soon.
