This adult only caravan park is ideally situated for visiting Cambridge and Ely. Just a short journey from the site is a Park & Ride that takes you into the heart of Cambridge and we found this very convenient as it took the hassle out of driving and trying to find a parking spot. St Ives is also close by and is well worth a visit.
The site has an excellent restaurant and although not cheap, we found the selection and quality of meals excellent. There was an area for washing and ironing clothes and a small shop on the site. There is a carp lake with some decent size fish for those that enjoy the sport.
The facilities were kept very clean and well stocked with requirements by the wardens. The shower rooms were like wet rooms with a toilet and wash basin. The water was nice and hot. This is a tranquil site ideal for a quiet relaxing holiday.
The reception by the wardens was the best we have experienced and I must say they seemed to work non-stop to make this site one of the best we have visited. We look forward to visiting the site again.

We stayed at Stroud Hill over the Bank Holiday weekend arriving Friday 24th May 2013. Both wardens were on hand with a friendly greeting and we were told to drive around and find a pitch we liked and return to reception to inform them of the pitch number. We chose a lovely pitch next to a large hedge that offered privacy. However, the unit on the other side of the hedge were invaded by thousands of ants. The owners had to literally empty their van in an attempt to get rid of the ants. I am just glad the ants decided to head east and not west!
The shop on site is limited but very useful and the bar / restuarant looked very impressive, although we didn't have an opportunity to sample their goods!
A walk around the fish pond at the top of the site is a must and was very pleasant. The local village of Warbouys 10 minutes drive away has everything you need with a Spar and a decent takeaway. Give Kims Chinese a try - very nice!
The toilet block was very nice and central to the site. My only concern was that there was not enough showers and toilets to accomodate a busy Bank Holiday. Three showers, three urinals and two cubicles. Monday morning and gentlemen were queuing not just for a shower but for a cubicle, then only to discover there was no toilet roll and no paper towels to dry your hands. Very disappointing. A problem possibly as a result of this being a day the wardens swap over. Still, being our last day it left a disappointing feeling to our stay as we departed.
Would we visit again? Yes.

This is a really lovely site. Pitches are large, with electric hook-ups, plenty of fresh water points, disposal of black and grey water, the toilets and showers are clean. Prices are also very reasonable. There are plenty of walks for the dogs.
we come here every year on a rally with our club, [ this year was probably the 11th or 12th year, and we all love the site. St Ives is a nice small market town, and well worth a visit. The area around the river is a pretty area, with plenty of pubs/eateries.
The local fish & chips shop in Somersham is good value [ and if like us, on a rally, they will deliver large orders] The Marsh Harrier pub on the outskirts of St Ives also was good value for money, plenty of menu choice, The food was good, hot, tasty and the portions were fine. The service was also good, friendly.
The town has a reasonably sized market on a Monday.

Very disappointed in this site. Very friendly when we arrived. However site looked bleak and the pitch was very uneven. Had a full service pitch, but this was a bit of a problem as the grey waste had to go uphill. Given that it also only stayed on for less than a minute at a time showering was very unsatisfactory.
The restaurant was very expensive so we didn't use it.
I think it is extremely unlikely that we will use this site again.

Just back from a week at this Adult Only site and had great weather compared to much of the Country. On arrival the Warden was very helpful and pointed out the one-way system and location of the facilities, then left us to find a pitch. At £23 per night this is at the top end of what we expect to pay, even for a fully serviced pitch.
All of the Pitches here have Electricity, fresh Water and a drain for Grey waste. Pitches are spacious and on the lower level are Hard standing. We decided to pitch at the top of the site on a Grass Pitch, again fully serviced, and with views over the site and beyond. There are no rules here about how to pitch your unit, so we decided to position the 'van sideways on, giving a great view over the Site and towards the Wind Turbines in the distant. From here the walk to the impressive facilities block is down a steep bank! so not suitable for everybody. For most of the week, we had this area to ourselves!
The Facilities are located at the rear of the purpose built Barn building and are very clean, with individual cubicles containing a shower, toilet and basin. A laundry and Pot wash / veg preparation area is located here too.
The site boasts a Bar and fine dining Restaurant 'Marcello's'. We ate here on the Friday evening and the food and service is excellent, it's not cheap at just over £100 for the two of us for 3 courses, and drinks including a bottle of wine, but it was worth it, the food is fresh; local and very well presented and we'd certainly recommend it.
There's much to see in this area especially if like us you enjoy heritage attractions, and we made the most of out National Trust and English Heritage memberships. Imperial War Museum Duxford is worth a visit too. We visited Cambridge with its magnificent Architecture, traveling in on the Guided Bus which we caught from the Park and Ride stop in St. Ives. This is by far the best way to reach the City. St. Ives is also worth a visit, as is Ely with its Cathedral.
There are walks from the site and maps are available from reception. The site is a haven for wildlife with a fishing lake and areas left uncut to encourage wildlife. I was surprised to see Guinea Fowl around the Site.
All in all this a a very nice site and well placed for exploring this area of the country.

Just returned from an excellent week's stay at this commendable park. Tell them you are there, find yourself a pitch and settle in at your leisure !
This is a very clean, well kept site with excellent restaurant, shop and toilet/wash room facilities and of course is adults only. The wardens were always on hand if needed and very helpful for walking, cycling and day trip information.
We biked to Somersham twice which took approx 20 mins once you've got up the hill from the camp and visited Cambridge via the guided busway from St Ives which is also an inviting place to visit and only 10 mins from the campsite.
You can relax easily at this camp but if you wish there is so much at hand to do. On site is tennis and fishing at small extra cost an just along the lane are paintball, 6 and 9 hole golf and superb 18 hole golf course with ten pin bowling, gym and good restaurant (glad I took my clubs along !)
The local village pub, the Mad Cat, is a little bland but the Golf Club invites public use at any time with good ales.
Our only reservation about this place is of no fault of the campsite. The lane leading down to the site has been widened appropriately but has some very deep potholes so beware and unfortunately the locals drive like idiots to and from the golf club which is at a dead end about 300 yds past the site entrance.
Nevertheless we will return again and would recommend the camp and area to anyone.

Stroud Hill Park is an excellent site, it has everything you need for a quiet, relaxing stay. The welcome you receive from the wardens is second to none and they work very hard at keeping the site immaculate. Everybody is so friendly and it was good to meet the owner's father who was equally welcoming, you had the feeling that they do everything they can to make sure you have a good experience.
The shower block was very very clean, wam with plenty of hot water. There is s small shop which stocks essentials and fishing items. The only thing that could make this site better would be to have hedging between the pitches.
Marcello, who owns the restaurant works very hard and obviously enjoys what he does. Nothing is too much trouble. He runs a tight ship and the staff, although young, were well trained and very professional and pleasant. The food was excellent. The Rib Eye steak is the best I have ever eaten and I have eaten in some of the top London restaurants. There was a lovely atmosphere.
After a bad experience at a different site we were apprehensive but need not of been. We will definitely return.

We stayed at this camp site during the Jubilee Week so the stay was accompanied by near monsoon rain! Despite being booked and arriving a day late due to unforeseen circumstances, the owner amazed us by waiving that day's fee; not at all how some reviews have painted the owners.
We found them attentive, polite and friendly at all times; as were the wardens - and yes we were in a tent, not a caravan so there was no discrimination at all.
The site itself was superb; excellent facilities with a superb on site restaurant, which despite being expensive was well worth it. Although one of the waiters was a bit -er- forgetful to say the least, Jason was superb; polite, professional friendly and attentive.
The best bit was the food of course, wonderful! The only downside was the isolation; too far from any of the local towns for a night out without the car, and the local pub 'The Mad Cat' was dowdy, unfriendly and lifeless!

Just got back from this site where we stayed for the weekend.
Wardens are very friendly, the washroom facilities were absolutley spotless and very warm, good job as it was quite cold and very wet this weekend. We had a walk across farmland to Somersham, found a pub to get out of the rain, they allowed our dogs in as well which was good.
In the evening we had booked a table at the on site restaurant, the food was scrumptious, we would go back here just to eat here again it was that good. All in all apart from the terrible weather we had a really nice chilled out weekend.

We have just returned home after spending a few days at this site and felt that time had stood still. It has been a number of years since our last stay and little had changed, a good thing but there were no improvements either. Issues of security, no underfloor heating to combat the cold [which it has been] and in the disabled toilets no hairdryer or equipment to clean out the shower after use.
The wardens and owners are still a big plus, welcoming and will try accommodate early arrivals-even those at 8-30am quite a plus!
The shop is fully stocked, the restaurant has limited opening now for those who enjoyed it previously, but there is information available where amenities are.
Our only concerns are about the security which is not in place and anyone could go in with no problem, however we enjoyed our stay.
