We have seen a lot of camp sites and we are not sure whether to give this a great review or just keep it as our secret favorite destination.
We just LOVED this site. The owner is very friendly, 'Pige' the pigeon that nestles on his shoulder is adorable and the wild life is enchanting.
They have given each site a bird table so we can enjoy the local birds on this beautiful, quite and peaceful site.
A bargain, yet has all the facilities, even the ones larger sites do not supply!
EG TV connection, internet, sink plugs! soap, lovely fluffy hand towel, and posh toilet roll. BLISS
We will most definitely be back, unless I have shot my self in the foot and she is fully booked!
So sad to be home and now missing that beautiful peace, . Definitely an 11/10
Shhhhhh. Don't tell every one!

Very nice site. We would recommend this. As mentioned before, very limited toilet/shower facilities but I never had to wait for either.
My only negative comment was that on arrival we usually get a leaflet or something explaining where certain things are and how the site is run. We were not even shown where the toilets were (although easy to find). We had no tele for 2 nights as we didn't know the owner would rent you out a box. No information on buses, restaurants or anything. You had to ask about everything.
But having said that we really did enjoy our stay. Nice and quiet and we were very lucky to have superb weather.
The only reason I would not go back is I do like my internet and phone and I could get neither. But a steal at £10 per night plus electric. By the way, we heard nothing from the dogs!

We stayed here for a couple of nights, we chose the site because we like smaller sites, especially in school holidays as they tend to stay quieter (our kids are grown up so it's just us two and our three little dogs).
This site epitomised what we like about small quirky sites, it's in a lovely peaceful location in the Forest of Dean, the pitches are level and the price is a bargain - £10 a night, including electric hook up. Facilities are adequate, 1 toilet for men, 1 for women and a shower that takes 20p's. It was great for the dogs as there is a path adjacent to the site that goes straight into woodland.
The only downside was the pair of scary German Shepherd dogs patrolling the adjacent garden, in sight of our pitch, and barking at every passing person and dog - the barking lasted most of the evening both nights we were there, and I was a bit anxious about what would happen if they got out as I had my three small dogs on leads as I went past.
Also, there is no tv reception unless you have satellite, and the mobile phone coverage is poor, you have to go to the summer house for patchy coverage (lack of tv and phone could be seen as a bonus of course!).
The Forest of Dean is beautiful and seems to have lots to do for families - we just sat about and chilled out as it was the start of our holiday, but there seems to be plenty to enjoy in the area.
My only reservation at all about this lovely site are the neighbour's dogs, that's the only think that would make me think twice about staying there again.

Superb site just off the Royal route around Forest of Dean.
Minimal facilities: 2 toilets; 1 male and 1 female, and coin operated shower (20p) But totally adequate for site as only 10 units allowed.
Spacious hard-standing plots not overlooking each other.
Couldn't believe the price of £10per night - which included electric hook up! Bargain.
Friendly owners who were in no hurry for us to leave by a set time on the day of departure.
Will definitely return.

This is an attractive small site, with access at the end of the drive to the forest where there are endless walks.
The pitches are level hard standings, surrounded by mown grass. There is only one shower, this seemed adequate for the amount of pitches and one of each ladies and gents toilet, these were dated but kept clean.
Because the t.V. Reception is poor the owner has satellite dishes, he will set you up with a box for £5 per week.
One thing that would stop us going back again is that the neighbour has two very large dogs which woke us up most mornings, from about 5.30 and one morning it was 4.30. Some other people staying there spoke to us about it too. We have to get up early when we are at work, so when we are away we expect a lie in until 7 or so.
When we politely mentioned the dogs to the site owner thinking this wasn't good for business, his answer was 'this is the countryside that's what you get?? Cows mooing, cock crowing we could accept and understand as we have lived in the countryside most of our lives.
It is such a shame because other than this the site is lovely.
Places in the area I can recommend are;
Hopewell under ground coal mine tour, very friendly people, lovely homemade cake in the tea room, let us take the dog in and made a real fuss of her.
For the weird, wonderful visit the Crime over time exhibtion at Little dean jail.
Goodrich castle with audio tour, excellent.

Excellent site, very peaceful with views of the forest. Pitches are all hard standing with EHU on each pitch. Small block with loos for ladies and gents and a shower if you do not have your own facilities. Owner very helpful. Good pub not far that does very good food.

Very good site and friendly helpful owners. Wasn't their fault the weather was bad! Nice touch is the TV hut with satellite tv and a heater at no extra charge. Will return when there's less mud about! Would recommend using the first turn off on the A48 past Chepstow (the road through St. Briavals), as there are some dodgy looking bends between Bream and Clements End.

This campsite is a little bit of paradise if you are a walker, bird watcher or just like to sit in the sun admiring the view. (Not so good if you are a little person wanting a play area!)
We arrived after 10days of very heavy rain so the grassy bits were quite wet, but the owner helped us on to the hardstanding with his tractor and we were fine. All of the 10 pitches have EHU and hardstanding and are well spaced out on different levels.
As mentioned before facilities are minimal, (1toilet each for ladies and gents + 1 shower) but adequate, even though we have no shower room or toilet in our folding camper.
Pub along the lane does very good evening meals so you don't even have to cook if you don't want to.
We would certainly go back and for more than a week next time.

Tucked away on the very edge of the forest, this is a pleasant and welcoming small site with the added blessings of being open all year and having hard standings for us motorhome drivers who don't fancy their chances on wet grass.
Pitches well spaced out in a series of terraces, friendly owner let us choose our own pitch, and all facilities seemed well looked after.
Great walks through the forest directly from the site. Would be mroe than happy to go again.

Probably the best site we have ever been to! This place is so peaceful and relaxing, it took all our effort to actually get off the site!
The facilities are minimal, Toilets, showers etc, but then again, you don't need anything else. All 10 pitches are hardstanding and are level. Two pitches have an aerial for you to plug into, but reception is still poor so make sure your booster is working.
This is an excellent site for dog owners. 20 yards from the front gate is a path straight into the woods. Our dog, Benson, hasn't enjoyed himself so much in ages!
