We liked everything! Bev, the owner, was extremely welcoming and the site, though small, had big pitches well arranged so that people weren’t just next to each other in rows.

Toilets & shower spotlessly clean, and Covid precautions the best we’ve seen anywhere. Sprays & hand san in toilets & next to water tap, and lots of ventilation in toilet area.

Recycling area was great, & included a foods scraps bin.

Lovely walk from the site into woods, which were full of wild garlic when we visited.

An observation, not a gripe. There isn’t a washing-up area, but as the price is so reasonable that’s fair enough!

Just got back from our stay at Hawthorn Cottage, what a gem of a site, has ten pitches for Tourers, also caters for motor homes but no drive over waste disposal,

Two toilets, one shower all kept very clean and no smells,

The site is right on the forest edge with a very short walk to them, good foot ware recommended, lawned area kept neat,

TV signal is not good but free view is available for £1 per day,

Bev who runs the site is brilliant and can’t do enough for you

Great location and Bev very helpful and friendly.

The facilities were immaculately clean which is especially important at this time.

Great value for money.

Highly recommended.

Just returned after a 5 night stay, could not fault a thing from day 1 until we left.

Peaceful well run site. Walks and cycling direct from campsite.

Nothing is too much trouble for Bev the owner many thanks to her for our very enjoyable stay.

Will return again soon.

A really friendly family run site. Extremely well cared for, clean and tidy in all areas. COVID-19 information and Requirements in place.

Hand cleanser given to every family on arrival with the welcome pack. Shower is only 20pence, for about 5 minutes.

Lovely hot water and ample time for a shower on the 20p. Bev is a charming, friendly person, and nothing is too much trouble.

Without a doubt will be back.

Just had to say how wonderful and patient is Bev who runs this site. We had never been to a small site before and together with the current situation (pandemic) we were very nervous.

Bev was excellent with directions and information and pleased to help. The site is lovely, peaceful and well kept.

Bev works very hard to keep it in top condition cleaning the facilities exceptionally regularly.

I agree with the reviews and the information given regarding this site it is accurate with nothing to add.

We must say that we were made most welcome and were extremely sorry that we could not stay the 15nts booked due to the lock down.

Just one observation the price will need to go up to make it viable.

This is one of those rare sites that you hope many people will not know about. It’s a little gem tucked away in the Forest of Dean. It’s small, for 10 spaces only but that’s the beauty of the site.

Access is fairly easy, as long as you go the way the site recommends not the way your satnav says.

Facilities are all there and are amazingly maintained by Bev. Pitches are spacious and well looked after. For the price you pay it’s a hidden gem.

If you like walking there’s plenty of walks straight off of the site.

On arrival was met by Bev who made us feel very welcome, she was lovely and nothing was too much trouble,

Had a perfect quite spot right on the edge of the site facing the wood, the dogs loved it, wonderful wooded walks right on the doorstep.

Make sure to pack your walking boots there are many places to visit and hundreds of walks.

We had a lovely weeks stay and will definitely be back for the peace, quite and relaxing camp site of Hawthorne cottage.

We loved this site. Very peaceful and attractive and the pitches are large and well spaced.

The facilities consist of Ladies and Gents toilet and one unisex shower. I used the facilities in my van but my husband and daughter both used the site facilities and said they were clean and fine for a site with only 10 pitches.

Bev works so hard to keep everything Covid secure and still manages to be friendly and helpful.

We will certainly be back!

We have just visited this site for the second time what a little gem.

The toilet and shower facilities were kept very clean and hand sanitisers easily accessible we felt very safe on this site. We are cyclists and walkers and there was plenty of things for us to do in our 7 night stay.

Bev the lady who runs the site was very helpful, and nothing was to much trouble.

We would recommend this site and will definitely visit again.
