Sometimes pictures on-line can be mis-leading, not in this case. Fantastic, peaceful campsite.

Bev has been the best host we have ever come across! From the minute we arrived, she could not be more helpful.

Would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone, bearing in mind it's not for people that require on site entertainment!

Plenty of activities nearby to indulge and many walks, etc.

Will definitely be returning.

Lovely site. The pitches are all hardstanding and are generously spaced one from the next with large grass areas in between.

The facilities are basic nut immaculately kept - one loo for each gender and one shower for everyone - but I never found them engaged: most people seemed to use their own facilities.

The site is very well kept, and Bev the manager is welcoming and informative about the local area. Many of her guests seemed to be repeat customers, always a good sign.

The site is well located for access by foot or cycle into the Forest of Dean and is within a mile of two of pubs and shops.

I was also very impressed to see the price structure was per person rather than per pitch - important to a solo traveller.

Highly recommended.

Just returned from 6 nights staying at this lovely campsite. Fantastic location, very peaceful and very well maintained.

All facilities spotless.

Received a lovely warm welcome from Bev and have just booked again for a break later in the year.

Can't wait to return! Thank you Bev. Jane and David

Hawthorne Cottage is a simple, no frills site but the best of its type we've ever visited. Bev the owner is always on the go and yet always seems to make time for you even if it's just for a chat and by the time you leave you feel as if she's been your friend for year.

The site is extremely well located with a path leading into the Forest of Dean right by the entrance which will take you on a woodland walk to Bream in about 30 - 40 minutes.

Bream has a couple of small supermarkets, a pub and a coffee shop that does a great breakfast.

Like many others who have written reviews here it is tempting to keep quiet about this site because it is that good but that would not be fair on Bev. We enjoyed out time there so much we have booked return visits in August, October and November.

First time at this great site. Lovely find, Bev (owner) lovely friendly helpful lady who looks after this great site and can't do enough for you.

Great walks in to adjacent woodland, easy walk to local village (Bream) with local amenities including shop/ cafe/ pub.

Adult only, quiet location, well maintained, great value, open all year.

Highly recommended.

Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site is a little gem of a site nestling at the edge of the Forest of Dean with beautiful views, great walks and is a very peaceful and friendly site.

Well spaced hard pitches, immaculately clean and very quiet.

This is our third visit to Hawthorne and we have also booked for later this year and next year.

Bev, who runs the site is a very charming, approachable lady who greets you with a smile and seems to have all the time in world to help or to just have a friendly chat, she never stops and keeps the site and facilities immaculately clean, amazing energy.

It was lovely to wake up in the morning and watch the birds on the feeders where for a few pennies you can buy fat balls or a few bags of birdseed to fill up the feeders. We had a little robin that came to visit us every day and even popped in our awning.

I could write a negative review about it so that we can keep this little haven to ourselves but that would be a very selfish thing to do.

Thank you Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site, thank you Bev for your hospitality

Highly recommended.

We have caravaned for more years than I care to remember This is by far the best CL type site we have used.

The pitches were all hard standing, the bird life was amazing feeders between every caravan.

Bev (the machine) what amazing energy.

Couldn't do enough to make your time brill. They have marvalous plans to make it even better, washing up facilities, drying rooms etc.

Would recommend this site highly.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site in our motorhome. The owner could not have been more helpful.

The site is run and maintained by one person, it seems and to a high standard.

It is so peaceful and the area around is beautiful with so many gorgeous walks.

We will be going back again in the near future.

We loved this little gem of a site. Really quaint, quiet and welcoming. Bev was always there, but never intrusive. She's got great plans for the place, but has already done some good upgrades.

However if you're after a quiet site with lots to do in the area, or just to chill, this is the one for you. Lots of walks and cycle rides to do, castles etc to visit, and birds to watch and listen to on site.

Thanks for making us feel very welcome, and looking forward to seeing you again in August.
