We stayed at this camp site for 1 week in July 2007 and have no complaints about it. Upon arrival we were welcomed by the warden who was very friendly and most welcoming. He showed us where to site our caravan and where everything was. He had only been there since end of April as the previous warden passed away in April so he was running the site for the time being. The other campers were very friendly and the campsite had a lovely atmosphere, we got talking to another couple who had been going there for years and they told us the previous warden was not the friendliest person and that since the new warden took over in April many people had started to come back to the site. The toilet block was very clean and in the ladies had a lovely basket of essentials ( body lotion, wipes etc ) which I thought was nice. Men's toilets were equally as clean. The caravan site itself is nice and quiet, our little boy is 3 and he loved running about to his leisure and made lots of friends with other children on the park. There is a corner shop about 5 minutes walk from the site which has everything you would need. The pubs in the village especially the black bull are all friendly and have excellent food. Especially the carvery on a Sunday. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend this camp site to anyone, it may not suit everybody but most people you speak to on site have been going for years and they said it has got better since the new warden had taken over. Like I say it may not suit everybodys needs but it did ours and we shall definitely be going again.

I've been back since my last review and the campsite has had a change of warden. Peter is charming and gives a great welcome. Rates are also really reasonable. The site is really peaceful and beautiful and you don't need a shop on site as the village is only 5 minute walk away with all amenities (and the first thing you come to at the end of the campsite lane is a village store). The local pubs are a must - the food is great. This is a lovely site but yes, the facilities do need upgrading. The shower is basic as is the washing up area but this somehow adds to the charm! The facilities are now cleaner than they were. There is only cold water out of the taps in the washroom which is a bit below par these days. Some statics are now also available for rental at a reasonable rate. I wouldn't miss this site for the sake of basic facilities.

We stayed at orchard caravan park for 1 week in may and could not fault the park at all for what we wanted. There was plenty of electric hook ups and more then ample room for tents. The stand in warden (we were told the owner had recently passed away in April) was very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The toilets and shower were immaculate and smelt lovely and clean even having towels and soap available. The whole park had a very friendly atmosphere, we were even invited for a drink on a night with the warden and his wife and other residents of the park. We have 2 small children and it was lovely for them to run about and play. There is no shop on the park but there was a corner shop about 2 minutes walk which provided us with what we needed.Plus if you wanted a bar meal there is plenty of choice of pubs in reeth village which do lovely meals. Overall I would go and stay at this park again as it had such a lovely atmosphere and would recommend it to anyone who wants a holiday on a very friendly peaceful campsite

I stayed at this site for one night in my backpacking tent in April and I won't be going back with the family and Monty 6. The site was flat enough and had great views of the surrounding Dales but that was about it. There wasn't a shop of any description and the toilet block was poor. Cold water only at the sinks, a dirty shower that cost 20p for hot water (which trickled out), holes in the roof and flies everywhere. Also 20p for hot water to wash your pots is a bit cheeky these days. There seemed to be lots of permanently sited touring caravans and not much room for tents which would probably explain the above. However it is close to Reeth with its great pubs and pretty green. Overall the site was quite busy with what seemed like regulars but it's not the site for me.

September 2004 We visted this site for a weekend break last September. Reeth is a great village with plenty of amenities and great pubs. however, this camp site is quite basic and only for the committed camper! The site shower block was considerably run down (peeling paint, loose loo seats, cobwebs & bugs) with only one shower working in the ladies area. Both men in the group declined to use the men's showers the entire weekend as they were not clean or welcoming. You also have to pay for hot water which a bit cheeky in this day and age, especially when it only trickles out for 6 minutes. Beware the lights being turned off in the loo block overnight as well!
The warden failed to show any charm or humour when we tried to book or when we arrived. I was positively barked at when booking over the phone.
The site is liable to flooding and was very boggy when we arrived but that is the nature of Yorkshire weather. Fantastic views up the hills in the morning and some lovely walking around here but not ideal for a very comfortable stay.
However, I find it only fair to point out that I met a lady there who had been going back for 12 years - a lack of comparison with any other site maybe?!
