I stayed here whilst doing the Coast to Coast Walk because the campsite is perfectly located. I turned up pretty late on after a long days walking and the campsite owners were incredibly friendly and generous.

Overall the campsite is clean and quiet and is in an excellent location for Reeth which is a quaint village with a lot of character. I recommend the fruit cake from the bakery in the village.

We have just come back from a lovely weekend camping with our son and his family ,the weather was wet and windy but we still had fun. Peter the warden was very friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble for him Lovely walks straight from the campsite, river near by, corner shop at end of the lane , This is a place to come if you want peace and quiet , would return next year.

First time camping as a family. Peter the warden was extremely friendly and helpful. Toilets were basic but well maintained, showers were 20p but had constant hotwater which was a bonus. We also took our dog camping they are allowed as on a leader. Good walks around the area and reeth has a good collection of pubs with good food, the locals within the village were very nice. Corner shop was not upto much, would recommend taking own food.

This site is fantastic. The owners were lovely and friendly! Very reasonable (£5 each, there were four of us!). The site itself looks beautiful and is very well kept. The toilets and showers were clean and tidy, however, only one toilet open in the ladies so had to wait a few minutes! Make sure you save your 20p coins! The hidden gem of this site, has to be the river. It is just across the neighbouring cricket pitch, and it is absolutely beautiful. It is quiet, peaceful, clean and secluded. Perfect for paddling and swimming! Heaven! We are going back this August bank holiday! The only things this site was lacking was a childrens playground and a website!

This site is a hidden gem in the Dales. The warden, Pete, is very friendly as is his wife and could not have been more helpful. They were able to tell us about the local amenities which included a lovely playground where we took our four year old daughter.

The site itself is in an excellent location just a few minutes walk from the village and it is very flat and perfect for pitching awnings, tents etc.

It was a very friendly site with a lovely feel to it. Washing facilities are fairly basic but clean and I understand they are hoping to improve these very soon.

I really would recommend this site and we will certainly be going back - hopefully very soon!

We stayed on this site over a weekend with our 2 young children and thought it was brilliant. The site is in a beautiful location, on a completely level field, mostly sheltered from the wind. Peter was very helpful and friendly, and we would certainly revisit in future. The shower block was clean, and the water hot, although only one shower in each block so there was a queue in the morning. However, the wait was not too long. The site was also extremely quiet, which is a big plus compared with lots of other sites we have stayed at.

There is no children's play area, and Peter did warn me about this when I booked, but this isn't a problem as the site is so safe for children to run about and make their own fun. There is also a very good village playground just up the lane from the site.

We stayed in this area mainly so we could visit The Forbidden Corner. It was fantastic, even on a wet and windy day, and we would highly recommend it. Not so impressed with the food at the Black Bull, we wished we'd tried the pub up at the top of the village, but that's just down to what you like.

Stayed a couple of nights midweek, a lovely site with nice views, next to the cricket pitch in the village. It is difficult to find as there are no signs on the main road, so you may have to ask.

The tent area is quite small, but we were the only ones in a tent, so lots of room. We were surprised that there are midges here, so bring some cream. The ground was good and did not get waterlogged after very heavy rain.

The shower and toilets were adequate and clean, though if the site had been full it may have been busy. Showers cost 20 p, as does hot water for the washing up sink (although this was not working when we were there).

Pete, the owner, is extremely helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for him.

Reeth is a few minutes walk uphill, and is centred around a lovely grassy green square surrounded by hills. There are three pubs and some cafes and shops and a post office (although cafes not open every day), the Black Bull does breakfasts from 0800. The pubs are very sociable in the evening.

There are buses up Swaledale and into Richmond, the times are posted at the washing up point at the campsite. The Park Centre in Reeth has information on walks in the area, some of which can be done by getting the bus one way and walking back.

Richmond is worth a visit with lots to see including the castle. Just outside of the centre the old railway station has been converted into a visitor centre with shops, a cafe / bar / restaurant and cinema, very useful on a wet evening.

Would definitely visit again.

Just returned from a weekend at this site. Pete the warden was very friendly, made booking easy and showed us where to pitch out tent when we arrived.
The site is level and not crowded, but take a mallet as the pitches round the edges have stony sub-soil so make putting pegs in difficult. It is mostly used by families and walkers, and makes a perfect base for walking as many walks can be started from the campsite.
The toilets were clean, the ladies’ has 3 showers and the men’s has 1 shower. The showers cost 20p, which is fair enough. However my minor niggle is that they also charged 20p for hot water for washing up which was for not much and not very hot water. Although there are 2 sinks for washing up the hot water only reaches one of the sinks so to use the other you have to bring your own hot water. It may be Peter has not got round to sorting this yet?
Having said that we really enjoyed our weekend and Peter was very helpful to all who were there, and is one of the friendliest wardens I have encountered. Reeth as mentioned is 4 minutes away on foot and has lots to offer by way of eating and drinking.

My friend and I arrived early evening in the pouring rain.  We met Peter, the Warden on site and he offered us shelter in a quaint old caravan until the rain had stopped in order that we might put up our tents in dry weather, we thought this very hospitable.  We were made very welcome and even shared a beer with Peter in the Black Bull - a lovely pub with real ale and good food.  The other pubs are equally as good.
My only other visit to this site was many years ago when my children were young, I remember it as being spacious, camping between the apple trees, the facilities being quite adequate.
This was much as I found it this time, except the trees were bigger and the toilet block stocked with spare toiletries and towels - a nice touch.
Peter informs me that he is to update these facilities which I feel can only add to an already perfect, cosy camp site.
Anyone using this camp site can expect a friendly welcome which will give a comfortable base in which to explore the beautiful surroundings of North Yorkshire

Having stayed at this site on numerous occasions over the years I must say it was in need of little bit of TLC and that is exactly what it is getting with the new warden, Both Peter and Pam are working hard to raise standards at this site and are a so welcoming, friendly and very very helpful.

The toilet facilities are basic but clean, the pot washing area needs slightly improving (Hot water) and from conversations with Peter it is  on the agenda for next season.

This little gem of a site is in a beautiful location with local stores, pubs and a Post office only a few minutes walk.

Looking forward to visiting again before the season ends.
