Stayed at Orchard caravan site for one night on our way down from Hadrians wall. Peter was very good as we hadn't booked in, there were no hook up pitches left so stayed near where the tents are.
Nice flat site with trees and a river at the side. Only down fall is that you have to pay for the showers and hairdryer so when not on hook up can be awkward if no change and you have to pay for the hot water to wash your pots.
There is a village shop at the end of the lane and the village is only 5 minutes walk away where you can sit on the green and watch the world go by, there are a few pubs that do meals and serve nice beer.
Would recommend this site.

Visited this site whilst on the Herriot Way a few weeks ago. Very warm welcome from Peter the owner. He said he would have upgraded us to a caravan but had just let the last one.
The site is really a caravan site with a little space for tents, we pitched between to 'vintage' tourers that looked like they had been there for a few decades!
Pitch was flat and ground pretty good, Peter came over and gave us a couple of folding chairs which was thoughtful. Reeth is a good overnight stop with several pubs to choose from of varying price. Be warned they don't all do cashback! A small shop just outside the site supplied us with milk and bacon for the morning.
The shower/toilet block was perfectly serviceable, perhaps a bit basic - the 50p for the shower didn't last 5 mins, more like 2 (failed the Bohemian Rhapsody test, didn't even make the Guitar solo. )
Good points: Nice location, Peter was very helpful, site very sheltered and flat. Reeth is the quintessential unspoiled dales village.
Bad points: Showers not amazing, if you don't like being amongst caravans maybe not for you!

First visit was very impressed with the setting and cleanliness of the site. Peter was great he greeted us and was very friendly throughout our visit. Beautiful surroundings and would certainly recommend it to everyone. We will visit again a lot through out the summer and in years to come.
Only slight complaint no hot water to wash with in hand basins. The village is beautiful and very clean with good local shops for all your needs. Lots of places to visit near by one being Tan Hill which is a lovely old pub up on the moors. Also lots of great walks and views to enjoy.

I spent 2 nights at this campsite and quite honestly I wish I had been able to stay longer. Pete and Pam are lovely friendly people.
Having read the previous reviews regarding the toilet block water etc. Yes fair comment but let's face it most caravanners / motorhomers have all the facilities they could ever want on board and it's the cleaning afterwards that stops us using them.
The village is really only a five minute walk not as the usual site reviews mean as the crow flies! We did sample the meals in the King's Arms Hotel which was perfectly fine but we did like the meal we had at the Bridge Inn in Grinton.
The Buck Hotel had a very friendly welcome and the enticing future promise of entertainment over the coming months which we thought would be a good excuse for further visits.
All in all I liked the position of the site the lovely owners and the proximity to the village. I disliked having to leave. A definite re-visit for us!

This is a nice little campsite in the beautiful village of Reeth. Facilities within the village are pretty good - 3 pubs, 3 general shops plus tea rooms and a bakery.
The campsite is well maintained and the toilet/shower block is clean. One slight negative is there's only one shower and no hot water in the toilets.
However, what makes this campsite special is the owners. They really go out of their way to make you welcome and to help in any way they can. We stayed here when walking the Coast to Coast and walked here from Keld on the most appalling day with incessant, day long pouring rain.
By the time we arrived we were thoroughly soaked and the prospect of pitching our tent in the continuing rain had our spirits at a very low ebb. We needn't have worried. As soon as we arrived the owner offered us a caravan for the night, at no extra cost.
This caravan was an old one with no facilities however it felt like the Savoy hotel to us! We were just settling in when the owner (Peter) returned with coffee and cakes (no charge) and offered to take our wet clothes to the house to dry them. What truly lovely people.

Visited here mid September for 4 days(after previously camping here approx 35 yrs ago) - orchard just as we remembered - although no doubt apple trees slightly bigger! Just on the edge of Reeth -so easy walk of under 5 mins to centre of village and pubs.
Wardens very friendly and helpful, ground flat and site generally clean and tidy. Get quite a few backpackers on site doing Coast to Coast. Cold water only in washrooms wasn't a great problem.
Not too many tents on site when we were there, so waiting to use the one shower (20p)wasn't an issue, but may be at busier times of the year. But hey, it's camping! - cold water's only a slight inconvenience!
Plenty of walking/ cycling (and lots of hills!) around and about - and we didn't have any rain! very reasonable price (£12 / night).Good ale in pubs, love the area- won't wait 35 yrs next time!

Upon arrival we were made very welcome by the owner, Peter. The site is well maintained and the ground is reasonably even though the placing pegs can be hindered by stones. As a location it is relatively secluded despite its closeness to the town of Reeth.
The toilets are clean and the showers are fine. You will need 20p coins to operate hot water for showers and for the outside cutlery sinks (they do not last for long!).
We were there following a relatively dry spell, however I suspect that water may be a problem due to its low lying location next to the River Swale. The campsite needs to position signs pointing to the site as it was almost impossible to find without enquiring within the town.
If in the area, I would certainly use the site again.

What a wonderful camp-site this is, Quiet, friendly and clean. Peter is most welcoming and so helpful. The village pubs are a real ale drinkers heaven and it is on the coast to coast route.
The one small criticism is that there is no hot water for washing your face in the toilet blocks and its 20p for washing the pots other wise there was no problem with waiting for a shower even with a full camp.
We would not hesitate to recommend to our friends and have booked in for later in the year. Happy camping.

If you are looking for top class facilities this probably isn't the place for you. (toilet block although clean and tidy would benefit from hot water and this is something that has been recognised)
Put that aside and if its a great location, good value for money and people who can't do too much for you that matters then you must visit. We had 2 days there supporting our son on the coast to coast walk and we loved every minute.
Very flat site, ideal for tents of all sizes and use of picnic benches an added bonus. Peter and his wife, who run the site, made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived and were able to give us information on walks and places to visit. We will certainly be making every effort to return.
Black bull for food and beer a good option

This was our third time at the campsite and we were happy to introduce some friends to the joys of camping, so where better than this beautiful campsite.
Set down a quiet lane, 5 mins walk from the village green and 3 decent pubs, you will not be greeted by more friendlier people then Pam and Peter the site wardens. Peter is a character and has a fabulous dry sense of humour and is the sort of person to go out of his way to make you enjoy your stay to the max.
We arrived on the Friday and the site was full. Tents to the far end (about 8 tents in all down there so you can get the gist of the size of this site.
Peter made sure we were happy with our pitch and offered very kindly to book us a table at the local pub for that evening. Nothing seemed too much trouble.
The ground is kept immaculate and the pitch area is lovely.
There are a couple of picnic tables scattered on site, which Peter was happy for you to move closer to your tent and utilise.
Only one shower per toilet block, ie one for the men and one for the women, but it never caused a problem and we were never waiting to shower. The shower takes 20p for about 5 mins showering, and probably my only criticism of the shower is you do have to 'run around to get wet', but hey, its camping. The toilets were always immaculately clean. A nice touch in the ladies toilets was that there were odds and ends of toiletries, which came in handy.
Just a tip if you are wanting to barbecue on this site - go to the co-op in Leyburn, (as there are only a couple of convenience stores in Reeth), at the back of there, there is a butchers and the bar-b-que selection in there is delicious.
If you like the tranquillity of peace and quiet and the most spectacular views go to this site - you will not be disappointed.
As for our friends, will they be back? - They most certainly will and we are booked to go back there in July.
