Spent a lovely week at Forest View. We were given a huge area of the orchard to pitch and Pete lent us his extension cable for the electricity. Our three children loved the space available to play, enjoyed the small pool, did some fishing round the beautiful lake and spent their euros on sweets in the shop! Site was lovely and peaceful and other campers (mostly Brits) were friendly and helpful.
We had a day in Disney which was just over two hours away by car. Intermarche was just down the road and really handy. Tried pizza van in carpark but sadly you had to preorder - will remember that for next time.
The site is located in a very rural area with forests nearby - it was stunning countryside. There are plenty of places to cycle. I took a small bike ride up to the nearby forest and found prehistoric field boundaries and tons of flints.
Loos and washing up areas lovely and clean. We were all sad to go after our week and will revisit again.

We have just returned from a week in the Gite. We normally camp but felt like a change. We had a lovely and relaxing break. The gite is spacious and well equipped, we have 3 teenage boys and there was plenty for them to do from board games to dvds and videos in the gite and beautiful spacious grounds outside, crazy golf, fishing and splash pool which was a hit. Although there are tents in the orchard at the back of the gite they are not permitted to pitch near so it is still very private.
Although it is quite rural (which is what we wanted) there was still plenty to do. There is a largish supermarket about 4 km away which is literally down one straight road. There was plenty to do in the surrounding area from chateaus to Manor houses There's also a local cider producer where you can watch how it is made and sample the finished product.
Paris was actually only 1 hour 30 mins away on the train (not 2 hours as per previous post) and I don't know what station they went to but La Loupe was only 20 minutes away with free all day parking and a very friendly english speaking ticket officer which really helped (my french is a bit on the poor side).
The English owners were very nice and although chatty, were not at all intrusive. Overall we would highly recommend this site and may well return to either camp or stay on the gite again.

I visited Forest View two years ago with my caravan and left a review. I have just returned from another visit and thought another review was required as this time I used one of their pre erected tents.
I went with my son and grandson to enjoy a week fishing. For the anglers amongst us the fishing is very challenging here but with some high 20 pounders for the successful.
The pre erected tents are three pod dome tents equipped to sleep six. Six single airbeds are provided together with a wardrobe. For cooking there is a separate tent with everything you need including a fridge and a double burner with grill. A table and six chairs are provided for eating and sitting. There is enough room in the large tent for the table and chairs when it rains.
We had a great week, the weather was mostly very hot. There was some rain but not enough to cause a problem. It did prove that the tents are sound and weatherproof.
All in all I thought it was a great way to enjoy our fishing trip. A good week camping without the hassle of putting up or taking down a tent and packing up all the equipment.
Anybody not sure about camping in France should give a week at Forest View a try in their pre erected tents, they'll be hooked - just like the fish!

Very friendly welcome, and a very peaceful campsite ideal for relaxing after driving for quite a few hours! We pitched our tent in a very shady pitch right by the fishing lake which was perfect for us, but there were also quite a number of all-day-sun pitches too.
There are two toilet & shower blocks so you are never far away from the conveniences. We used the shop for an ice-cream on a very hot day. Which was very nice! The site will kindly freeze your ice packs, and the owner even let us borrow some of hers as all ours had de-frosted!
A decent sized Intermarché supermarket is located just 3km down the road which even opened on Sunday morning (unlike most in France which stay closed). We only stayed for two nights on the way down further south, but wished we had stayed longer.

This camp site is very reminiscent of 'england cool camping' site Batcombe Vale which we had previously visited and loved. Forest View features in the French cool camping - and deservedly so.
We only had a one night stop at Forest View in August en route back up France and our only wish is we'd had longer. Very chilled and peaceful - the kids (5 and 7) had a ball cycling around the lake, making friends with the cat and hunting for the frog they could hear croaking as dusk fell. We enjoyed the quiet, the plopping of jumping fish and the simplicity of the BBQ on the waters edge.
Facilities were simple yet spotless - and whilst we didn't partake of the informal bar Karen and Pete have we were glad of the cold beer and wine in the little shop.
I would agree with a previous review that certainly there is not much within immediate striking distance - but that's the whole point of sites like this surely ? But some lovely little towns, villages and manor houses within a short drive.
We'll be going back (and have already booked). And to Batcombe Vale too !

A very pretty site in a very rural part of France. Very Rural.
You will have to drive everywhere from this site (unless just going for a little walk). We stayed a week - and could not find a nice French restaurant locally that was open of an evening - you had to drive 15 or more miles for any sort of evening entertainment or to eat out. If you want to experience French lifestyle then this site is probably not for you as the area is just too rural and is run by a (very nice) English family.
We were slightly put out be being told it was 8 pounds per night to stay - this price was confirmed in emails with the site owner before we went, however we were charged 12 pounds per night as he didn't mention until we got there that the price was actually 12 EUROs per night
The site is very slopy and you will need blocks under your jacks if in a caravan.
I am pleased we went and we enjoyed ourselves overall, but won't be going back to this site as it's just too far away from anything!
Train to Paris takes 2 hours (and it's a half hour drive to the station) and costs around 40 pounds per person return fare.

We stayed for a week over New Year very good site for winter caravaning.
16 amp E.H.U.'s so plenty of power watching T.V. Ect.
The site has had a new toilet/shower block built and the owners are revamping the old ones.
Very nice area for a winter break lovely walks in the forest and around the regions many lakes.
This may not be the most touristy area of France but for anyone wanting a peaceful break this is a good area.

We stayed in the gite, which was comfortable and very pleasant - the back door opens out onto the orchard - sun loungers, table and chairs and BBQ are provided. The camping areas looked lovely and its a pleasant walk around the lake. We heard owls at night and a woodpecker though we didn't see one, though we did see a couple of red squirrels!
The area is very rural and lovely, with lots of small villages nearby, within a couple of hours you can be in Rouen,Chartres, Giverny or Le Mans - all worth a trip. The 'locals' were very friendly and helpful and the markets - lots of them - are great. We took the ferry to Dieppe to shorten the travel and it was about 2 1/2 hours drive.
Petrol/diesel still much cheaper! Mostly we found that things were pretty much similar prices to the UK, except alcohol of course - mention this as someone has mentioned it being cheaper but most things aren't at the moment.
Karen and Peter are very pleasant hosts, helpful and friendly but also didn't intrude (as some hosts can!)
All in all if you want a relaxing, rural site then we cant recommend this highly enough - we will go back, maybe camping in the summer or in the gite again. We loved this place!

We stayed on this site for a week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The site is an easy drive from Calais taking about 5 hours with a stop in the middle. Make sure you plan your route properly as the site is quite some distance from the motorway and major road networks but cannot be missed when you get there.
The site has three distinct areas, the orchard, lakeside pitches and an area set back from the lake. All are good area but the only place to find flat pitches is in the orchard. We were on a lakeside pitch and thought it was perfect. I like to fish and the lake has some nice carp in it. By the way, the ducks are really friendly!
Electricity is 16amp and there is no shortage of taps, especially in the lakeside area. Showers and toilets were spotlessly clean and functional however they could be described as rustic.
There is a small shop on site but it is only about a mile to the nearest Intermarche. Tea is available on the lawn. WI-fi is also available. Finally there is a small surface mounted swimming pool which I should imagine is just right for cooling down on those really hot days.
All in all a really good and friendly site I will return to.

What can I say booked for 2 nights stayed 2 weeks. Very nice site lovely lake with fish in it. Small shop on site stocks most things. EHU'S 16 amp good satellite reception.
Good clean toilet/shower block also there is a washing machine.
Small swimming pool, mini golf on site.
Vet is only 5 mins down the road, English spoken.
Plenty to do in the area.
One thing to do while there take a bottle of wine walk round the lake to one of the seat's and watch the sunset. Stunning! enjoy.
