A gem of a campsite.
What a perfect week (May 2017) camping in this wonderful rural location. The site was excellent; set in a peaceful, beautiful location with good facilities…just perfect. Spent the week relaxing, walking in the adjacent forest and fields, visiting the local manor house and hiring bikes (from the campsite) to explore the nearby traffic free greenway cycle-path (disused railway) adjacent to the Huisne River. Local markets and quaint villages complimented our stay. The campsite owners (Peter & Sarah) are a wonderfully friendly couple, who were exemplary hosts throughout our stay. We arrived as strangers and left as friends and we were grateful for their kind hospitality. The plat du jour evening meal, to which everyone staying was invited and was held in their farmhouse, was a great evening of local culinary excellence (cooked by Sarah) and good banter as everyone got to know each other and shared stories. One week wasn’t long enough. We’ll be back.

We stayed at this lovely site for 4 nights whilst on our way back to Caen after nearly 4 weeks touring.
Peter and Sarah made us really welcome and treated us like friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the plat du jour evening. The meal was lovely and we spent a great evening talking to our fellow caravanners and campers. The site itself is very peaceful, beautifully well kept and clean. The toilet block was of a high standard and the showers were well above average size. Our pitch was in the quiet area and was huge. We were able to position our van so that we had a good view of the lake.
Peter and Sarah are to be commended on a superb site.

Well don't think I can sum up what an amazing break we have just had! A haven of tranquility, superb site with electrics which match English connections, toilet block of the best quality you will see in England - just music missing! We had a 'quiet camping' site which was lovely - view of the lake but away from the main part with two vocal dog friends. The plat du jour nights were a highlight of our visit - thank you SArah! Both Peter and Sarah are wonderfully welcoming and will try to accommodate your every need. We loved walking our two terriers from the site through the forest, lots of lovely markets nearby and generally a very rural setting. Enjoying practising my rusty French with lots of encouragement from the very friendly locals! We are already planning our return visit - seems most people we spoke to were previous visitors - we can only say we know why!

We stayed here for one night as a stop over on a longer trip. It is a shame we did not stay longer. We have never had such a warm welcome. The pitches were a good size and we were advised how to level our van. It is lovely and peaceful and very, very clean. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it looked good. I would certainly use this site again and would also try to stay longer.

Fantastic site. Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful country side location with picturesque lake. Clean and well kept and maintained. Le Mans about 45 mins away. Food available on site most days. We did not use this facility, but we spoke with other visitors who did and raved about the offer. Fresh bread can be ordered for the morning. We were left alone to enjoy our stay which we like, but if you needed any help or advise it was on hand by very friendly approachable owners. We will be returning for sure. 11/10

Having just had an energetic couple of weeks with my two grandsons visiting the Le Mans Classic motor race and Futuroscope, I was in need of a bit of gentle R & R before returning to the UK.
Having visited Forest View on two previous occasions I knew exactly where to aim, a quick call to the owner confirmed that they had a pitch available.
On arrival, it was immediately obvious that a great deal of hard work has gone into transforming the site into the gem that it is today. The pitches were beautifully kept, the very attractive seating area outside the bar/restaurant now sports a new pergola, with lots of colourful plants.
After living in the van for a couple of weeks, I was really looking forward to a proper shower, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The showers block was spotlessly clean, with massive shower enclosures (with stools - Other sites please note) and lashings of warm water :-)
Three nights a week a Plat de Jour menu is offered, unfortunately, our visit did not fall on one of those days, however, Peter said homemade Pizza's were available. I can honestly say that the Meaty Feast was one of, if not the best, Pizza's I have ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot:-)
I would have loved to have stayed longer but commitments meant we had to return to the UK the next day. Peter asked what time we were leaving and asked if we would like any bread or pastries which they obtain from a local artisan baker. Thankfully we were able to take him up on the offer, and the quality was outstanding.
In conclusion, I defy anyone to find a better run campsite, with friendlier more helpful owners. If you're looking for a stress-free holiday in a beautiful part of France I am confident Forest View will fit the bill.
We look forward to returning in the near future

This is the 2nd time we have been back to Forest View and are pleased to report that it is still one of the best run, best facilitated and most pleasant campsites we have visited. Peter and Sarah are just wonderful people who devote a lot of time and considerable energy to making you feel at home and comfortable. Upgrades we have noticed, new tiling in the already immaculate shower block. Sarah's 2 course evening meals are still brilliant and also a great way to meet others from the site in a convivial atmosphere and they now offer fresh home baked pizzas 'A emporter'.
We had pitch 4 down by the lake and although not a fisherman its great to see the carp being reeled in by the specialists.
Plenty of local amenities and artisan boulangeries in the area. We tend to use Forest View as either our first pitch up if we come in from Calais or as a last pitch up if going back from Le Havre, Caen or Dieppe. We are strongly thinking to come for a longer stay next time and not hike down to the deep south! All in all a fantastic site and well worth taking the time to stay here. Certainly a testament to this is the fact they have so many regulars that just keep coming back - that will include us.

We stopped at this site in April on the way to and from the Loire valley. We decided to do the same on our way to the Lot valley in August, stopping again on the way back in September.
Brilliant site, brilliant owners and a fantastic location. Plenty walking locally in the forest which is full of wild boar. The site is well laid out spacious and peaceful. Facilities are spotless and nothing is too much trouble for Peter and Sarah who make the stay a delight. The evening Plat de Jour with other campers is a lovely experience, and the food is good too!
A supermarket and other facilities are a short drive away including a vet which is ideal if you have dogs and are heading north to the Channel ports.
Already looking to return next year, its a no brainer!

Amazing site. Such a shame to leave! A very warm welcome from the owners, great sized pitch - bring levelling ramps though. Showers and toilets always spotless. Washing up facilities also spotless. Site was very quiet when we were there in September, and not full, which was a bonus! Amazing views all around the site. We took our bikes and explored the region on these, the roads were great, and the local traffic free cycle path was also lovely. Cannot complain about anything. We had the evening meal with other campers and B&B guests on the Saturday night which was something different, and great to get to know other people. We also had the pizza another night which is a welcome break from cooking. We will most definitely be back and would recommend this site to anyone wanting peace and quiet.
