We stopped at this site on our first night of our motorcycle tour down to southern Spain. We were so tired that we would have slept anywhere. This is one of the nicest campsites I have stayed in for many a year. Anybody who offers me a cold beer when we were booking in understands hospitality. Excellent lakeside pitch. Clean fully equipped toilet and shower block. Home made pizza and real coffee from the restaurant. Fully intend to stay again next year and use it as a base to explore the area.

We base our ratings on the caravan club also the camping and caravanning sites in the UK which are at a high standard. This site forest view nearly reaches that standard the site was tidy, quiet, the toilets clean maybe could do with a couple of more toilets and showers especially when the site is full. WI Fi was available near the reception
We had a meal in the bistro/ dining room, reasonable priced 13 euros each + drinks, and enjoyed eating with other campers but felt that maybe we would like to eat on our own if visited more often. A supermarche about 2 miles away.
If you like fishing this site has a nice lake and well stocked so I am told. We took many walks from the site some on back roads which are very quiet and some through the forest. The owners where very friendly and helpful. Will we visit again - probably just a few niggles but really minor, the lights in the toilet block should be on a movement sensor, the lights need cleaning as full of flies inside the building and out, so on this review we would award a 8. 2

Management response: Dear 100175
Firstly, many thanks for your 8 star rating it's always nice to get good reviews. I simply wanted to correct a few errors in your review that others could find misleading.
1. Too few toilets and showers when full.
We have a total of 25 pitches serviced by 6 huge showers and 6 toilets housed in our new facility which has separate ladies and gents sections. Taking this into account it is a better ratio than found on the UK Caravan Club sites you compare us to and even when full we have only received praise for the temperature, pressure and lack of queues commonly found on French sites.
2. Separate dining tables in the restaurant
Glad you enjoyed the 2 course Euro 13 Plat du Jour. Just for clarification no one is bound to socialise with others it'™s just a format that seems to work rather well and introduces campers to each other for a great social experience. A simply request for a separate table would have been easily accommodated if it had been requested.
3. Motion sensor lights in the Shower and toilet facility
Our lighting is light sensitive not motion sensitive and comes on when the ambient light drops below an acceptable level and stays on all night as is a legal requirement. The only time the lights are extinguished is during the day when they are not needed. I have always found motion sensor lights to be far more dangerous as they always seem to extinguish at the most inappropriate moment!

This lovely quiet site is in a rural location at the centre of the Perche Parc Naturel in southern Normandy. Its a straight-forward drive of about 5 hours from Calais.
The nearest town is Remalard (about 2 miles), which has a couple of bakers, butchers, vets pratice, deli and so on, plus an excellent Tourist Information office. There is also an Intermarche supermarket, with fuel, on the outskirts of the town. Not much further away is Bretoncelles, which is smaller, but also has a bakers etc.
At the centre of the site there is a beautiful fishing lake, containing large carp. The well-maintained pitches are a good size (huge by European standards) and its possible to select your pitch when you book online, which is a facility that I like. Most of the pitches have a slight incline, but blocks are available if required.
The toilet facilities are simple but adequate, with plentiful hot water. There are sinks for dish-washing and laundry plus a washing machine (5 euros, I think).
Free wifi is available in the bar area, and we were able to pick up a weak 3g signal on the pitches. The bar is open at specific times during the day and the evening for a quiet drink, and there are English books and games available to borrow. Other facilities include crazy golf, a swing, and a table tennis table. There is also a huge field where you can exercise your dog off the lead.
The site is owned by Peter and Sarah, who will welcome you warmly and provide information and assistance, as required - though are never intrusive. Once or twice a week, Sarah cooks a delicious meal, where site guests eat together around one, or more, big tables. We highly recommend these evenings for good food and convivial company.
We particularly like the location of the site, as there are lots of tracks and footpaths where you can walk your dog - both from the site and within a short drive. The Tourist Information Office has lots of leaflets available for a small fee; they're in French but the maps are easy to follow. Alternatively buy the Blue IGN 1:25000 maps at the supermarket and make your own routes up. Occasionally you'll find a path has been blocked, but we didn't have any major issues. There are lots of lovely villages and hamlets to explore.
This was our third visit to the site. This time we'd booked three nights and stayed for three weeks, so you can tell that we like it.

We stayed for 15 nights on one of the lakeside pitches and can only describe it as idyllic. Peter and Sarah are the perfect hosts and cannot do enough to make your stay as close to perfect as possible. The site has a pleasant ambience and we met some nice people with whom socialising was a pleasure. As for the area, this is rural Normandy and there are plenty of places to visit if you do a bit of research or just ask Peter or Sarah, who will assess your preferences and point you in the right direction. The Markets are real French markets and not Tourist markets. You will go for a menu de jour at a bar/cafe and find yourselves the only Brits there, so prices are consequently reasonable and the food very good. The French people in the area are really pleasant and helpful even though very few of them speak English, so take your phrase book or make an effort with the language. Take your bikes as there are some fantastic cycling opportunities in the area. Angling on the lake is for the specialist carp fisherman and there appears to be some good river fishing in the area. If you want a relaxing holiday without leaving the site, this is the place to do it. If you want to discover the area, driving in the Normandy countryside is a pleasure and there are unspoilt towns, villages and interesting locations to visit without driving too far. This was our ninth holiday in France and I must say it was our best.

We had a great stay at Forest View. Peter and Sarah were very welcoming and helpful. Plot fantastic with great views across the lake, and the forest beyond. Having a get together with the rest of the guests at the bar, was a very good idea, helping the guests to mingle and enjoy each other's stories.
All the facilities were first class, very clean and well kept.
Looking forward to another stay, in the not too distant future!
Thanks Peter and Sarah, for a very enjoyable stay.
Love from Andy and Marilyn

We booked a pitch at short notice as we were heading to Normandy for the World Equestrian Games and our other accommodation was found to be unsuitable.
When we arrived we found the pitch to be extremely spacious (much more so than a lot of the UK campsites) and either side of the pitch had a hedge for additional privacy. There was an extremely warm greeting for us after we had set up and made our way to the bar/restaurant and we also spotted board games and books to entertain people when the weather was not looking too good!
Throughout the week nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Peter or Sarah and they were extremely happy to help in whatever way they could (Peter stopped the rain within 24 hours of us requesting it). There is free wireless internet available in the bar/restaurant area for those that cannot tear themselves away from modern technology.
The shower and toilet block is basic but clean and has all of the essentials that you would need for a comfortable stay, they also have a washing machine available for rent.
One of our party was due to go camping a short time after our return to the UK but was paying the same price for 2 nights that we paid for 6 nights at this campsite, she thought that it was too cheap here and that there must be a 'catch', this definitely wasn't the case.
We have only stayed here once (6 nights in total) but I really could not recommend this campsite enough, if you want to experience a comfortable and relaxing environment at a very reasonable price then look no further.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of a 3 week trip through France to the Pyrenees. It was a slight detour from our chosen route but well worth it. The amenities are good and both fields have their plus sides. The Orchard is very spacious if a little sloping with enormous pitches allowing you to avoid the large apples that fall in Autumn ! The Lakeside pitches are ideal for those who want to do a spot of fishing or just relax in the idyllic scenery. We arrived after a few days of rain but had no problems with our pitch - so I guess it drains quite well. Our hosts were very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately we arrived on one of the nights they offered a meal in the restaurant / bar but these have to be booked in advance so we are unable to comment on the food. The surrounding countryside was rolling hills and had an English feel to it - had we been there longer I guess it would have been good for walking/cycling. Travelling with a dog the field across the road provided ample walking first thing in the morning and a short drive provided us with a longer forest walk in the afternoon. There was an excellent hypermarket just down the road which supplied the cheap petrol for the next stage of our journey. For us the 2 negatives, and they are minor, would be that while we were there the campsite was populated almost entirely by Brits and the weather was obviously as changeable as England - so we needed to move further south for more of a French experience. For us this was though an excellent short stay.

Spent time at this site on the way down south and again on the way home and are so glad we chose to return to see what the new owners have achieved. The owners have done an amazing job in making this site a haven of peace and tranquillity. Now the site has a new shower block, which also includes washing up area - all very clean and tidy. The pitches are large and well mown with beautiful views of the large fishing lake. The owners make every camper feel so special and a couple of times a week the owner offers delicious food, served in their pleasant, relaxed bar/restaurant enabling you to meet and chat with other campers if you wish. We really didn't want to leave this site and cannot wait to return very, very soon.

The site is very well organised with good clean sanitary facilities. There is an area where you can buy drinks on site and a big building with sofas which you can go into and use the wifi. There was no 'plat du jour' on this week as the owners were catering each night for a large group.
It is a very pretty site with beautiful grass and a lake for people to catch fish in. You do feel a bit odd taking up a lakeside pitch if you don't fish though!
The site owners were very helpful and friendly on our arrival and during our stay.
However It just wasn't for us. And to be fair non of our reasons are the site owners fault but to give a balanced review to help others these are our thoughts:
It just seemed remote, If there had been a village within walking distance or at least a couple of kilometres cycle ride which had it's own shop or bar, then that would have made a difference. We drove to the nearest town Remalard which didn't seem to be that interesting, and there is an intermarche not too far away. We didn't stay long enough to see if the area had more to offer but it did appear as if you would have long drives to reach anything.
Everyone stopping seemed to be British - and we prefer a mix of nationalities.
It was peaceful and very green - if you like fishing and are happy to be surrounded by British people during your stay, then this could be site for you.

Travelled here from Norwich with my two mates on motorcycles, booked the site on the fly based on reviews and must say we were very impressed. Welcomed by Peter who generously lent us his barbecue without which we would have starved! (Not really!)
Cannot fault the site at all, very clean and tidy with a lovely atmosphere of calm and superb cooking from the owner. We stayed for nine nights and we wished it could have lasted longer and we certainly would recommend this site to our friends for either a stop-over or for longer. Great value, can't wait to return.
