Yes I agree the owners were lovely and the couple who look after the site couldn't do enough for you but oh the toilet block - there was only one shower in both ladies and mens (ladies had cracked tiles) and my hubby said he had difficulty turning round in his!
A beautiful spot and the campsite was full so if the owners are reading this please please spend some of the income and refurbish your toilet block.
Someone also mentioned plenty of room between units - not in our case I'm afraid but then it was the busiest time of the year. Won't return.

We're literally just in the door from a weekend at this site. I can only really repeat what others have said.
We had a waterfront pitch overlooking the moray firth with the snow capped Cairngorms in the background.
The road through the site did make me a little apprehensive at first as we had a very outgoing and non street wise 11 & 2 year old with us. However we came through the weekend without any problems.
The toilet blocks are outdated and could do with a refurb. Only one shower in the gents ( presume the same in the ladies ). I'm 6ft 2 and had a couple of probs in the shower. Firstly in the very small changing area my head was touching the ceiling. Secondly I couldn't get a constant temp from the shower.
Overall a very nice site if you just want to relax or if you don't mind driving to attractions. The owners are lovely people.

We have stayed at this site for at least 10 years and have always been made welcome and found the site clean and tidy. The washing/shower block is always spotless and the site is always free from litter and noise. It is a wonderful place to stay when you are on the Black Isle and a great place to see the dolphins which we have watched from the caravan as they go back and forth.
Everything you need can be found in Fortrose and the local eateries are great. There is a wild life park not too far from the site which is worth a visit and a museum in Rosemarkie which we found very interesting. The beach by the site is quite rocky but nice for watching the birds and there are sea otters which come onto the site. All told its a great place to stay while you explore the area.

Decided to stay on this website as we had seen the reviews and also wanted to see the dolphins at Chanonry point. The owners of the campsite couldn't help us enough, we could park whereever we wanted, and we parked close to reception as we wanted to be out of the way. Tv reception was good, we were a bit concerned about the road in the middle but it was fairly quiet so no concerns. Toilet block was clean but could probably do with being updated. A key was needed to gain access which wasn't a problem. There were laundry facilities but didn't use them, dishwashing facilities were inside which was good and there was even a microwave which was a nice touch.
There was a lovely couple who work at the site and they couldn't have been more friendly. The site wasn't too far from the village which has got basic amenities and were made to feel welcome in the local pub! We went to see the dolphins at Chanonry point on two occasions and weren't disappointed. Would definitely visit again of we were in that part of Scotland again

We stayed here for one night en route to the the west coast and our main reason for picking this site was to see the dolphins that visit Chanonry Point.
We weren't disappointed even though we had limited time and the dolphins turned up on cue just before high tide.
Chanonry Point is quite busy because of the dolphins and there are not really enough car parking spaces so the fact that we could wander down to the point from the campsite in about 20 mins was a real bonus. The kids loved seeing the wild dolphins and it made the diversion well worthwhile.
The site is situated on a long thin strip of land right on the edge of a shingle foreshore and the views down the Moray Firth towards Inverness are lovely. The site is divided in two down it's length by a minor road that leads down to chanonry point.
Some previous reviewers have expressed concerns over this but our experience of this road was that being a dead end it was not at all busy during the day and virtually unused at night. The owners were friendly and helpful.
The toilet block is situated about two thirds down the site and a key is provided (£5 deposit refundable on leaving) so that only site occupants can gain access. The facilities were kept very clean and tidy. There is no separate charge for the showers.
With the limited duration of our stay we didn't have much of a chance to explore the local area but there looks to be plenty of interesting places in the area. Inverness is a large place with all the associated facilities including a big Tesco with reasonably priced fuel for those wanting to fill up before heading further north. More locally, we had a nice chippy tea from the chip shop in Avoch (about 3 miles back down the road towards Inverness).
All in all a well run site in a great location with a unique uk wildlife experience on its doorstep. Would definitely pay a return visit.

Excellent. Four nights pitched right on the waterfront. Very friendly owners that could not be more helpful.
Not a lot of things laid on for kids, but our son and two daughters spent hours playing on the beach (stony rather than sandy) and playing with the other kids on the site.
Had a bit of difficulty pitching tent due to stony ground but managed to do so. Toilet were spotless.
Toilet blocks at both ends of park, but we only used the bottom set.
Village of Fortrose was small but adequate. Couple of pubs, well stocked co-op, excellent chip shop and the most divine bakers that I have ever visited, to name a few.
A 15 minute walk along the coast takes you to Chananry Point, where, every morning and most nights we saw the resident colony of dolphins and the odd seal.
Thoroughly recommend site for base on the Black Isle and relaxing stay with family

We had not booked but found this site through the UK Campsite website while travelling. We almost made the mistake (as others have mentioned) of pulling onto the first site you come to, but luckily realised our mistake and carried on further down the road where we found it and the first thing we noticed was how well looked after the reception area was. There was a wonderful floral display of well tended flower beds which straight away gave us peace of mind that the site owners were very proud and that the site would be very well looked after. And it was! The owners were a lovely friendly couple who were very helpful in telling us where and when to see the Dolphins, and directions to the village and the local supermarket (which was only about a 10 minute walk away) The walk to Chanonry Point to see the Dolphins was a pleasant stroll alongside the golfcourse and sea, where we saw plenty of Dolphins and Seals despite the rain! The pitches were very spacious and were right in front of the sea. The toilet/shower blocks were very clean and the showers spacious with plenty of hot water. The lady owner was seen constantly making sure they were kept clean throughout the day and I have to say that she worked very hard, but always had time to talk to us. The only downside to this site (which is only a problem if you have children) is that a public road runs through the middle of the site but was not a very busy road and seemed like local traffic only. Otherwise it was a lovely clean peaceful site, very well kept and with lovely views of the sea and a good local area for walking/cycling etc. We would definitely like to go back one day, hopefully a bit earlier in the year when it isnt raining.

Nice quiet site despite the public road though the middle.
We pitched about 3 meters from the beach (no sand) which the kids enjoyed, just as well as there is no park for them. We spent several nights by our campfire on the beach!
The toilet block is cleaned regularly but seemed very dated and could probably do with replacing, the mens especially was a bit wiffy.
No shop on site but Fortrose village is a 10 minute walk and has a good selection of shops.
The location is ideal for dolphin watching, we did see some from the tent but through binoculars.

We visited in early July 2010 for two nights and had a great time. Lots of nice flat grass for tents. £15 a night. A long site but with a toilet block at either end. Wasn't too busy (due to World Cup?) so no queues in toilets or showers. Very friendly owners. Windy but that meant no midges. Lovely views down the Moray Firth towards Inverness. 1 mile walk to Chanonry Point where we saw dolphins 5 times out of 6 (owner can advise on best times). Nice fish and chips in Fortrose.
Great place.

For a basic site this is an excellent site.
The views are amazing. The fact Chanory point is only a 15min walk away. We saw dolphins in really close and got some good video footage.
The toilet block was well maintianed(very important to me as I have had a tummy bug while camping before and clean toilets very important at this time). There is only one shower but that only a problem if you shower at usual times(leisure centre in town offers shower facilities to campers. 30 mph road through campsite out to point may be a concern to those with children.
Would go back again in an instant.
If it is windy though beware as felt like tent was going to get blown inside out as wind was coming off water straight across campsite.
