Good site and great location right on the beach. However there was no reduction to the normal tent cost, to pitch a pup tent next to the motor home (£15) but having said that the cost for the motor home was only £18 which was very reasonable.
We saw a mother and baby dolphin within an hour of arriving at the site. We parked up and walked to the end of the peninsular (about one mile) where the dolphins were within five metres of the beach.
The road through the campsite, which is a public road, was very quiet and did not bother us at all.
The dish washing room had good facilities as well as a microwave oven which was a nice touch.
Toilets, although very clean, were a bit tired and only had one shower. And no electric point for hair drier.
Finally, friendly staff and it looks like they are making some improvements to the site.

We came to this site to watch the dolphins and were thrilled to get a good view of them at Chanonry Point, a short bike ride / walk away. Best time is about 2 hours after low tide until nearly high tide. The dolphins turned up almost to the minute, and were within a few yards of the shore.
The campsite is along the shore of the Moray Firth and is very scenic. There is a road running through the middle of the site from the town to a car park at the far end.
The owners are helpful and friendly. The loo block was clean and well maintained but only had one shower in the ladies which resulted in a queue even though the site was not busy.
We had fish and chips from the shop in Fortrose and can recommend it highly - the fish was sweet and moist with perfect batter, but the chips were a bit anaemic! The shop was staffed with very young lads and lassies who were working hard and efficiently - very impressive team.
As well as Inverness Airport making a lot of jet noise, there was quite a lot of machine gun fire from the direction of Fort George which took away from the peace a bit.
The town of Fortrose has a small Co-op with the necessities, and an interesting ruined cathedral. The next town is Avoch with an attractive harbour.

A lovely informal site, no real setting out just pitch where you fancy, either side of the road. The road was not a problem at all.
Reception was in a chalet at the beginning of the site, very helpful and friendly. When you book in you get a key for the very basic toilet block, which was clean. The shower was not up to much.
Pitched right next to the pebble beach. Dolphin watching at the point a short walk away, and they really come close to the shore!
Local shops well stocked and a short walk away.
Definitely site with a personality of its own, worth a visit, we will return.
A final point, they apparently don't suffer too much of the midge.

This campsite is superb. Situated on the moray firth, with fort george opposite. We stayed here not being aware that we could see dolphins here. If you walk along or drive to the Cromarty light house which is about a mile along the beach. This is such a lovely place, we didn't see the dolphins on this occasion some people say its because of some sort of sonar being used nearby which may have scared them off. We spoke to a few people who come here regular and they say they see them very often. We did see lots of various see birds and seals. We were just unlucky this time not to see the dolphins. The site is lovely and very clean. The owners are very friendly also. We paid £17.00 for the night for two adults and electric hookup which I think was well worth it.

We stayed here for two nights on our first tour of Scotland, hoping to see dolphins and seals. We did see dolphins in the water at Chanonry Point although they were a long way off and didn't stay around for long.
The site is basic and stretched out along the beach with a (not busy) road splitting it in half. We could choose our spot and took one right on the water's edge which was magical. Our second morning, with a mist on the very still Moray Firth was very special. The toilet/shower block was basic but clean and functional, everything worked well.
It was about a 15 minute walk to Chanonry Point although I would recommend the road/path as the beach has big stones which were difficult and slow to walk on. We continued along the sandy beach to Rosemarkie - lots of colourful stranded jellyfish for the children to take photos of! Rosemarkie is pretty but quiet, we had a meal in The Plough, a very tiny pub - good pub grub. We walked back to Fortrose along the road. Fortrose has an excellent Coop which has long opening hours and a couple of pubs and restaurants which looked good.
We drove to Cromarty hoping to take a boat out to go dolphin spotting but we should have booked in advance. Great little restaurant/bistro down near the harbour. On the way back we stopped (on the left) at a (well-signposed) off-road cycling centre in a pine forest. Not manned and no charges - just a map and information on the different grades of courses. We did the blue (second easiest) which was a real slog uphill and then a very challenging (for me) downhill. There were a couple of extreme courses for enthusiasts and a dirt track. It was a great way to spend a fun and cheap (ie free) afternoon. Recommended.
We felt this was a lovely place, picturesque in a very different way to the Highlands, where we'd been the week before but also felt that 2-3 days were plenty in this area.

WHat a wonderful site - fantastic location on the shore of the moray firth, and friendly owners who also lent us their phone when we locked the dog and keys in the van (thankfully the RAC weren't too long in rescuing her). The showers and toilets are nice and clean, as is the laundry and washing up room. Only £17 per night for the van, the large awning, and that's with two adults, two teenagers and a dog.
Fortrose itself is a lovely little town, with a very good local pub (the Union) and a very posh pub (the Anderson), the local butcher also has very fine burgers, though you cook these yourself (on a fire on the beach under a full moon maybe!)! The shops are good and the folks there are friendly.
An easy mile walk to Channory point lighthouse where there is a little pebble beach, and the best dolphin watching place in the world (I think). And we saw dolphins everyday, just after low tide is the best time in summer as they follow the salmon up stream. Just mere feet away from the shore they leap out of the water tossing salmon with their noses as they hunt and feed, fantastic! Take your chairs and stove to the beach, and enjoy a hearty breakfast whilst waiting for the dolphins to appear, we did and it was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had!
We will be going back there!

The site is small and basic, but excellent value.
Free clean showers( only 1 in each unit but we did not have any problems with delays) and toilets. Dishwashing area spotless.
Couldn't fault the location, 10 minute walk to Channonry Point for the dolphins and a 5 minute walk into the village( couple of pubs, restaurant,CO-OP store, post office, butcher, choclatier, and excellent fish & chip shop. We extended our stay for an extra 3 nights so the site can't be that bad.
We will visit again the next time we are in that area.

Stayed here for two nights with our two boys (3 and 6), who loved it, despite no specific child play facilities on site. Agree with other reviews - very friendly owners; good location; close to Fortrose, which has a well-stocked Co-op.
The site facilities are adequate - two shower/toilet blocks, with one shower each in the gents' and ladies' sides (but even though the site was full, we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for the shower, which was always hot - didn't see any evidence for the third block mentioned in another review); toilet blocks were cleaned at least twice daily; plenty of hot water for washing up in the washing-up area (which also had a washing machine and tumble-drier, although we never used them).
We saw dolphins both nights and our boys loved throwing stones into the sea from the rocky beach near the lighthouse. The Black Isle Wildlife park was also a big hit with them.
Only negative point (and it's not really anything to do with the campsite) was the road through the site - sometimes cars drove down there at speeds which made me nervous, especially considering there were children around on the site.
Would definitely go back again.

Great site: very friendly and informal. Lots of pitches directly overlooking shore. Saw dolphins at end of Chanrony Point on every visit. There are actually two toilet / shower blocks: one by reception and one farther along on opposite side of road. And they are about to put in new block, which will treble number of showers.
Recommended.

Site is spread across the front and you have to cross the road to get to the toilets - this is fine because it's really quiet but you do tend to forget that it is a road! Had a great time here - we stayed three nights, saw loads of dolphins. We came here to see the dolphins so we couldn't complain and I wouldn't complain about the setting of the site either - we had great views and good weather but when it was windy the Moray Firth really was making a racket - it was like that when we arrived the next day it was all quiet and when we woke up I wondered where the water had gone only to realise it was calm! £17 a night over the Easter weekend with elec and two kids - bargain. Went to the coop in Fortrose several times as I kept forgetting stuff! Also went to the Black Isle wildlife park which we enjoyed - it was about twenty quid to get in which I thought was dear to begin with but in the end we were there for about four hours, fed everything we could - emus, llama, alpaca etc, went round twice, went in the cafe and had a lovely day. Drove to Cromarty and back via Udale Bay - there's a bird hide there. Didn't go the black isle brewery but that seems to be the other main tourist attraction here.
