Due to commitments we thought we couldn't go away camping in our summer hols, how wrong were we!
Only 10 miles from home we were here and had a great time, in fact we sat there on our first night and realised we could be anywhere!
As has been said before the facilities are basic but very clean, with free hot showers and we had a sea view, we even saw the dolphins swimming passed whilst having our morning cuppa!
There is no 'play area' for kids and the beach is pebbled but a short walk takes you to a sandy beach. Fortrose has a great shop and chippy. There is a pub and a couple of restaurants (never tried but heard to be good).
Can't praise the couple who run this site enough, nothing was too much trouble, whilst we were there one couple had tent had problems (i don't know what) but they sorted out a wee caravan for them.
We can't wait until next spring!

Had a fantastic and peaceful 10 days here. Owners were friendly and laid back, other campers were also friendly and considerate. It was quiet from about 10pm. The site has a beautiful location right at the sea front, which is a bit more sheltered than you might imagine given that the coast turns in like a sea loch. Having said that, the day we arrived the wind was from the south and we only managed to pitch our tent with some help from our neighbours! Our pitch was a good size, didn't feel at all squashed in.
As other reveiwers have said, the site is a little basic, but the showers are free and hot, the toilet block is kept clean, and the washing up and laundry facilities are good. Granted there was only one shower but this didn't seem to be a problem for the size of site, neither of us ever had to queue. Our dog really enjoyed walks from the campsite along the stony beach.
The nearest shop is the co-op in Fortrose, two minutes away by car, good chippy in Fortrose too. Tesco in Dingwall is about 15 miles away.
We saw dolphins every day, at Chanonry Point 15 minutes walk away, 2 minutes drive through the golf course, but also from the campsite. It does get pretty busy at the Point at dolphin o'clock (1hour+ after low tide), so look out for late evening or early morning opportunities when it's quieter.
We'll be back!

We stayed at Fortrose for a few days in September. We had visited the highlands the previous year and completely failed to spot a single dolphin. This time we saw them; sometimes twice a day from nearby Chanonry Point. This is a pleasant walk by a golf course or an easy drive / cycle ride of less than a mile on a quiet road. This site is a good centre for touring the Black Isle; which is neither Black nor an island. The attractive small town of Cromarty is worth a visit and is reputed to be a good wildlife spotting centre.
The site is basic but has adequate toilet facilities, electric hookups, with pitches close to the sea, friendly owners, all necessary shops, pubs, restaurants and bank within a few minutes walk, easy access for a caravan and beautiful views.
What's to complain about? - very little indeed; perhaps soap and a hand dryer in the toilets would be nice but we'll certainly be back.

Site is in great location, right by sea. Beautiful uninterrupted views over water. We saw lots of Dolphins and Seals from the caravan. Also Dolphins every evening at close range out by the Lighthouse which is a mile walk away. Be careful if you are walking to the Lighthouse during the day at you literally are VERY close to the golfers. Some of whom were not great shots! Site in my opinion is basic and dated for the price per night, the showers etc were clean enough but very old. The couple running the site were friendly enough, but the site just lacked something. Dont thing I would return.

Go off season (after Scottish schools back). Beautiful views across the Moray Firth. As others note, basic but all the essentials are there, clean and included in the price. 1 mile gentle walk to the lighthouse to watch the dolphins (which were great), village shops local and Tesco at Dingwall only 20 min drive through fantastic scenery.

We stayed at this site for 5 nights hoping to see the dolphins, they certainly didn't let us down. We didn't see them close up from the site but after a short easy walk between the golf course and the beach (shingle) you arrive at chanonry point where we saw the most fantastic display of dolphins playing around. As for the site, well, not brilliant but good enough for us to go back again, and we're fussy. One word of warning. If you have teenagers, they will get bored and spoil your time, our 15 year old daughter did!

If you like camping next to the sea shore this is the site for you. Arranged to spend a night here to see the Dolphins (which we missed). I am told the best time to see the Dolphins is 1 hour before high tide. Friendly couple running the site.
The campsite is dated and basic but cheap. Toilet facilities were clean. There were two toilet blocks containing one small shower each - glad we went in the quiet season. Hot water always available. Dish washing area clean. Although we never used them there seems to be an abundance of electrical hook up points. There were no children play facilities on the site Nearest shop is in the village which is about 0.5 mile walk where you will find several shops, e.g. the co-op, chippy and pub.

Clean, Basic inexpensive site, lovely hot showers and toilet blocks were kept immaculate the same as the dishwash area an laundry. Very nice couple looked after this site and nothing was too much trouble. Most Pitches overlooked the beach with great views... a dolphins, seals and birdwatchers delight,....site is within walking distance of local village for some great pubs and shops!
