Stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend. Basic site with few facilities, but enjoyable none the less. Not too noisy although there was some noise after midnight at the other end of the long field. Campfires are allowed as long as they are not placed directly on the grass. The campsite provides braziers for this. Excellent spot with a short walk into Sowerby Bridge or Ripponden along a disused railway line. Would go back.

An absolutely cracking little site. Nice and sheltered with trees on both sides meaning you're nice and comfortable when you wake up in the morning in your tent rather than sweltering hot with the sun beating down on you (it was really warm when we were there as well). The entire surrounding area is very picturesque and there are nice walks to be had as you (literally) step out of the site. One of the best things about our stay was the owners of the site who were absolutely great - extremely friendly and helpful, they gave the impression that nothing they could do to make our stay a happy one would be too much trouble for them. They even sorted us out with some pizza's delivered direct to the site! The pizza's were spot on too! The only (very, very) minor gripe was that there were six of us camping there and the 2 ladies amongst us felt that a couple more toilets wouldn't have gone amiss (and possibly another shower). But other than that - absolutely first class and we will definitely be back there soon.

Just got back from a night on this site - would definitely recommend - very chilled out and relaxed - a great forest next to it for collecting fire wood and a nice walk down bridle path to local town (a few pubs!) owners very nice and helpful. Take your own toilet role!

Decided to stay here from recommendations from the newspaper (Daily Mail) and the numerous reviews here and we were not disappointed. Drove up from the midlands on a busy Friday without booking and found a great pitch straight away although it was a choice of shade morning or afternoon and then stayed for 3 nights. Site was fairly busy and everyone was enjoying their camp fires with all the kids playing together, real camping. The nearby woods are idyllic, complete with river and streams great for walks and kids adventures. Went to Holmfirth on Saturday where they film Last of the summer wine which was pleasant. On the Sunday evening the site cleared from nearly full to about 3 pitches so this is really a weekend site. Reason being that the facilities are rather inadequate, when we were there there was one toilet per sex and seeing that the showers and wash basins are in the same cubicles queues grow at key times although the disabled toilet was free most of the time there is no lock! Not a lot of evidence of cleaning going on until the Sunday morning! Having said that for £7.50 what more could you ask for? The owners came round and are really nice people and help with fires and even clean up dogs **** after careless owners. We did have some trouble with uncontrolled noisy dogs at 04:00 in the morning which wasn't funny. Highly recommended site for a real weekends camping and will definatly be going back.

Woodland on either side of this flat stretch of land provide morning or evening shade. Facilities are quite adequate and the owners are very helpful. Being able to have open fires is a bonus. From Triangle follow the signs to Grassy Bottom, turn right at the cricket club before the road goes uphill.

We went to this site because it is not too far from home, and we had a new tent to try out, and because the previous reviews sounded like it was going to be a good visit.
I would agree that it is a beautiful site, there were plenty of children who all played together, but there was no kind of curfew - one group stayed up chatting until 2am - and their dog was up several times in the night, resulting in shouts and swearing from other campers at 4.30am, but they only stayed one night and their behaviour was not typical of the other residents.
I would recommend this site for short visits, the facilities are very basic - nothing at all came out of the hot taps !, but if you appreciate a flat site in a woodland setting you will love it.
Oh and the listing here suggests that it has 105 pitches - no way, unless everyone was in a two-man micro-tent and left their cars on the car park. There were probably 25 tents there this weekend and it was just about right, not overly filled. We will definitely return here, the kids LOVED it.

A real find this site! Given it was the hottest weekend of the year so far, everywhere was booked bar here. When you arrive (the lane to this site is extremely narrow with a bridge), you can set up and they collect the money after. The facilities are very basic, with a toilet each for individual sexes and a shower each, but the shower was free. The owners come around about 6pm each evening, but at only £7.50 for the night it's worth it. Nearest pub is at the top of the lane on the main A58, but the cricket club(bottom of the hill) was also open for non members. Nearest shop was about 3 miles away. No entertainment, but if you're looking for quiet and a nice spot with loads of woodland walks and a dog friendly site- this is the one for you. A hidden gem for a quiet weekend- just don't expect the earth!

Great little site this, only been once but will definitely return the owners were spot on, they brought us some paving slabs to have a camp fire on! Clean and tidy toilet and shower shed, perfectly flat pitches, surrounded by trees. You can also walk into the woods to collect your fire wood. Oh and its a CL.
