A fantastic site! Two large slightly sloping fields with sea and coast views. All the facilities you would expect to find, including lots of drinking water taps in the fields. Clean toilet block, standard campsite facilities. Electric showers, 20p payable per use, which gives you plenty of time to shower (although can take a bit of time for the temperature to stabilize. Lovely friendly owners who leave you to get on with it and if you are late to book in they come round the next day to say hello and take payment. Coastal walks are great. I recommend this short walk from campsite: take the path from the bottom field down to the small but functional Porthcalis harbour. Take the path up the other side and follow the rugged coast to a small rocky bay (about 1mile or so). At the bay head inland and follow the footpath signs (watch out for Buzzards here). Nice spot by a pond for lunch among the hundreds of blue dragon flies! The path eventually meets a lane which you then follow back towards the harbour and the campsite. About 2.5 hrs with stops. St Davids is a lovely little town, about 15min walk from the site. Lots of places to eat in the town. Highly recommend the Farmers Arms pub which has a large patio garden out the back. Whitesands Bay up the coast is also great. Spotless and stunning views. Head there later in the afternoon when the tide is out or take the coastal path north and if you have the energy climb the tor for fantastic 360 views. Its a long drive from the midlands but for us the weather made up for it. We had 3 days of wall to wall sunshine which was fabulous. Go here you will love it!

Keep an eye on this site - it is up and coming - it was great, and it will get better - great potential! 15 of us went camping here, 5 tents, cars etc. We were allowed to just set up in the corner of the field and were left alone. The owner took the site over only in January 07, and she does have plans to improve it. This is one of those coastal sites that are just perfect. It is up there with Trevedra Farm (Cornwall) - great for surfers, walkers and people who just want to be left alone on a peaceful site. The owner drives around in her Volvo once in the morning and once in the afternoon to collect money - very reasonable - simply £6 each, no silly additional capitalist charges added after this. OK, the shower / toilet block is basic - but as I said - there is room for improvement and I reckon it will be just fine. St David's City is just a short walk from the campsite along the path or take a left or a right out the site to amble across some fantastic coastal walks.

The views from our pitch couldn't be faulted. A beautiful view of St Bride's Bay and just a short walk to the cliffs and more dramatic scenery. At the very start of the season, only one other set of campers were pitched up apart from ourselves on the entire site. The lady who dealt with us was extremely friendly and helpful. However, I was concerned about the facilities. They were spotless but aged and very basic and I did wonder if they would sufficiently cover two full fields of campers at the height of the season - perhaps they are relying on most people having their own within their campervan. Plus I do object to paying extra for a shower; I would prefer it to be included in the overall rate! To be fair the new owners have just taken it over and may make improvements. If you like a strong hot shower and to be able to blow dry your hair in a heated all mod cons shower block, Porthclais isn't for you BUT if you don't mind basic facilities and are paying on a view and scenery basis you will love it! It is also only about a mile from St Davids City (village) with access to a level if sometimes rather boggy footpath - in damp weather stick to the road it doesn't take much longer.

What can I say ! This site is great, with a short walk from the site down a coastal path (5mins) you are at Porthclais Harbour which is just beautiful, quaint does not describe it. The waters are crystal clear. You can also walk along the lane into St.Davids about a 15 minute walk, which has all the facilities Britains smallest city can offer. There is also a coastal footpath running past the site. The site has fantastic views and we found the owners most helpful. There was a drive over grey water point, and though the facilities basic they were all very clean. If I remember rightly the fee was nominal for the views you get. This is not an all action site, but more a get away from it all place. Brilliant!
