This is a lovely quiet camp site about one mile from St David's city and right next to the Pembrokeshire Coastal path and Porthclais Harbour.
The pitches are generous and toilet and shower facilities are immaculately clean. Washing up facilities are plentiful.
Nearest pub is the Farmers in St David's.
A lovely campsite but not recommended for people who want fast food, club houses, drunken parties and entertainment laid on. Nice and quiet.

We've just spent a perfect weekend at this campsite. We camped just over the hedge from the coast path. The weather was stunning as were the views. I can't imagine anywhere better in the sunshine. We booked on line and paid a deposit which was all straightforward and had a warm welcome on arrival.
There are a few large fields and most people camped around the edges leaving plenty of space for our kids (and adults) to play various games and make friends. It's a short walk along the path to porthclais harbour which was excellent for crabbing. We also watched a few groups of kayakers go out which looked like great fun. The other way along the coast path is Caerfai Bay which was about a 40 minute walk with children aged 8-11. Stunning views all the way as well as the excitement of watching people coasteering. Caerfai is a gorgeous beach, clear sea, lovely for swimming in, plenty of sand for sandcastles and a few pools for exploring. We then walked back to st David's, stopping for ice cream on the way, and caught the local bus back to the campsite (using the timetable given to us on arrival at reception along with a list of things to do and events in the vicinity). A perfect afternoon.
We were a little concerned that the facilities looked small for the size of the site. But we needen't have worried. Another small block was opened and all the facilities were fine, always clean, plenty of soap at the sinks and paper in the toilets.
All in all the ingredients for a perfect weekend. This is a lovely 'non-commercial' site in an idyllic setting which seems really well run with clean facilities. We'll be back!

Just back from two nights at this campsite- myself, my husband, and kids aged 10, 9 and 6. It really had everything we could want. We were able to pitch just over the hedge from the coastal path. Short walk to Porthclais harbour in one direction and Caerfai Bay in the other. Whitesands, which is a great beach for older kids, close by.
The site itself is a proper big field type site, but with really good facilities. Clean washblocks, hot showers (50p but you get a generous time for that).
It was quiet when we visited (midweek term time) but I think even in high season, with a 20ft between pitches spacing rule it would not feel cramped. As it was, my kids had most of a big field to play in and had a marvellous time.
Looking forward to coming back.
I should say this isn't a bells and whistles site. It doesn't have a playground, on site entertainment (unless you count the sea!), etc.
We don't use EHU but I'm not sure how much of that there was, and I'm not sure if there was anywhere to charge mobiles etc (we just charged anything we needed to in the car).
What it had was friendly, down to earth staff, huge amounts of space for the kids to play freely, and amazing views. Could not have been more perfect for us.

We have just returned from a fabulous short stay at Porthclais. We received a warm welcome from the owner, and there was plenty of space in the field allocated to park our motorhome without being close to other campers (the site was nowhere near full).
The views right across St Bride's Bay from this site are stunning, and it backs directly on to the coast path just above Porthclais harbour. We had lovely weather, I expect it may rather exposed in windy conditions!
The facilities are fairly basic, but the loos, showers and washing up areas were always clean and we had everything we needed. There is also a designated area for washing wetsuits.
Don't come here if you want evening entertainment, playgrounds and swimming pools, but if you want peace and quiet to watch the sun set over the sea this is the ideal spot.
Nearly forgot- our dog was welcome too.

We recommend this site. The owner is very helpful, the facilities clean and big enough ie loos, showers, washing up, very small shop. Site near fabulous coastal walking eg short walk to St Davids.
Great for families. Whitesands beach a short drive away for surf board hire, rock pooling, cafe, beach gear, lifeguard etc. Camp site is next to the small Porth Clais harbour where you can go crabbing from the wooden jetty and coasteering if brave!
Lots of room for flying kites on the campsite - in the wind off the coast.
We didn't have to pay for a whole week up front - just day to day if weather good which helped. Helpful freezer block freezing service.
Met some climbers using site for coastal climbing. Lots of interesting historical sites to visit very close by.
We went on a boat trip around Ramsay island from St Justinians life boat station.
Good value pubs in St Davids and cathedral and ancient Bishops Palace to visit. Arts Festival was great in August - lots happening in the vicinity as well as St Davids.

We have been visiting Porthclais campsite for 20 years but have missed the last 6 years since the property has changed ownership. I kept reading some quite scathing reviews and wondered if it really had changed that much since a family member was there running it? Well I can honestly say it was still a fantastic place to visit and to be remembered by some of the locals.
We visited the small coffee shop on the harbour to find my friend still running it. These moments are priceless.
There have been some improvements with the showers/toilet facilities yet the price of a shower does not reflect the standard of a shower. ( Still nice to get under hot water at 7am ) I remember painting the shower blocks many years ago and was hoping for a slightly more modern look and feel in 2013.
The fees were acceptable and the location of the tent was perfect, 2 minute walk form my favourite fishing spot. I have already had feedback form the friends I brought along and they wish to go back next year for a week instead of just a BH weekend.
Very pleasant owners and nice to see the owner, my daughter used to come on his boat fishing with us.
All in all it was just as I remembered. Totally awesome place to be.

Excellent position with sea views and next to the coast path. Ideal location for our activities. Appreciated the peace and quiet and space.
Good value despite paying for ice pack freezing and showers.
The wash up area, showers and toilets were always clean, and there was always hot water.
I feel the toilet block would benefit from mirrors in front of the wash basins, with some shelves and hooks here as well as this area was always wet.

Perfect views across st. Brides bay, with the sea views as the sun sets, breathtaking. The site is just above Porth Clais and on the cliff path for easy access to walks.
Site is uncrowded and relaxed. Facilities are clean and have recently been enhanced. Office sells useful supplies and always happy to help.
About one mile from the centre of St. Davids you can walk there in 20 minutes.
We have been visiting this site for over 15 years and have never had a bad experience.

We have just returned from spending 3 glorious weeks at this site. Yes, the weather was fantastic but even so the site gave us all that we needed. The views of the sea were wonderful, even sitting down in the field furthest from the cliff we could still see the sea so how come the recent reviewer had poor sea views??
Site facilities were excellent, showers and toilets were always clean and available, even though a School Camp was in the next field for one week. Washing-up basins were plentiful, as was the hot water for same. Refuse bins were in abundance and emptied regularly so no excuse for litter.
The site office was manned from approx 9am till late, providing facilities for freezing your freezer blocks, charging mobile phones, also a very informative brochure covering the Pembrokeshire area. Queries were dealt with promptly and cheerfully, I was able to have a parcel delivered to the office saving me some inconvenience.
A footpath leads to St. Davids, 1. 5mls away, or catch an half hourly bus to many areas.

We had a fantastic weekend here, with a bunch of friends.
The lady at Reception was polite and efficient, and appreciated the fact that we had paid an on-line booking deposit.
There was loads of space, good showers, and convenient for St. David's (shops, pubs) and Whitesands Bay (surf).
We particularly liked the fact that we could access the coastal path from the site, so didn't have to use the car to go walking, climbing and snorkelling.
We will be back
