Having spent 5 days at this site I have only good things to say we managed to get a good place to but up the tent with a good sea view with plenty of spaces between the other tents which surprised us at it was very busy. Toilets kept clean and lovely hot showers. Another great idea was the daily van coming around with milk ,bacon ,bread and juice what a great way to begin your day sitting with your bacon sarnie looking out to sea. The kids enjoyed the coast walks and fishing in the harbour. The only word of warning I have is pitch your tent very well because on our last night we struggled to keep the tent up against the wind which is very strong
A lovely basic site with great views if you are looking for somewhere to stay that gives you views and access to walks and other local attractions then stay here.

Fantastic campsite in an excellent location. The site is right on the coastal path with stunning walks in both directions. The sea views from our pitch were spectacular (you can choose your own pitch from a choice of five fields). We went in the second week of the school holiday and it was't busy at all. St Davids is only about a 20 minute walk away and has small supermarket and an excellent butchers with some lovely BBQ meats.
The toilet blocks are more than big enough, I never had to wait and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a shower on one occasion. The staff are really helpful and I couldn't believe just how often the toilets and showers were cleaned - I saw the cleaning lady in there nearly every time I went! There are a couple of sinks for washing up which are outside but under cover.
They charge your mobile for £1 a time and hire freezer blocks for 20p each refreeze (you can't freeze your own).
The only drawback was the wind that so many others have mentioned. We sacrificed the shelter of the hedge for the sea view so we were blown around rather a lot, a couple of people lost tents so either come with a decent one or get behind those hedges in the more sheltered fields!

A large site with lovely views of the coast and surrounding area. An easy and pleasant 20 minute walk into St Davids. The shops in the high street are quite expensive but there is a good supermarket up past the post office. Nice cathedral and well kept town, but I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Maybe this was because we had just come from camping in Tenby.
Although there is no play area, there is plenty of space for the children to play and they really liked the site(age 8 & 11).
One shower block was single sex communal which my husband thought was OK. . The toilets in the portacabin were clean and the washing up area was sheltered and sufficient. There is no permanent shop on the site, but a mobile shop that visits the site twice a day.
On arrival we couldn't put the tent up because it was so windy, so we moved to what we thought was a more 'sheltered' spot. Not so! After 2 nights of howling wind and rain, with repaired poles, and my husband trying to put the tent back together at 2 am, we had to cut our holiday short and say goodbye to the tent! The poles were eagerly grabbed by another camper who also appeared to have tent trouble.
Typically the weather was lovely as we departed and when the sun is shining this site offers a good location for walking in an absolutely stunning area. The children enjoyed crabbing in the harbour and although windswept even they were impressed with the scenery of the harbour and coastal path.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this campsite and would definitely recommend it.
The location was excellent, close to St David’s and on the coast path above the little Porthclais harbour. The facilities were always kept nice and clean and a mobile shop calls twice a day.
The site was quite free and easy going with plenty of space, level pitches and the atmosphere pleasant and relaxed.
It is worth taking note of other reviewers’ warnings about pegging the tent down firmly as the wind can pick up significantly at times but wouldn’t put us of visiting again.

My wife, Son and myself spent 10 nights at Porthclais last month. I would echo the previous posters comments as very accurate but would point out that the unit that they thought might be the semi-built permanent replacement for the portacabin facilities probably aren't as I overheard one of the owners saying they are getting loads of grief from the local planning department about the proposal to extend the current hard facilities- which is a shame as it would really improve the site.
Wind is the only major issue on the site - our new Vango Carrera coped with two nights of heavy rain and strong (35 mph+) gusts of wind - our new canopy didn't and had to be taken down (luckly no damage). We bailed early when the forecast said 50+mph gusts! Other campers weren't so lucky and we saw at least two tent casualties whilst we were there.
As the characterful owner, Thelma, told us on arrival - 'every day is an adventure with the weather in Wales' and boy is she right with Porthclais!
PS - MJ's dairies are brill - all campsites should have one!

Our short stay at Porthclais Farm Campsite was somewhat ruin by the rain and gale force winds. Somehow our tent survived (a few didn't) and hopefully we'll be able to return when the weather is a bit better.
The facilities were good. Large toilet blocks which were clean. We used the 20p showers in the older block. These were nice and hot, with good pressure, 20p was enough time for me.
The camping fields have a gentle slope and there was plenty of space. There are rules up about how close tents can be pitched, but the group of six tents that came and pitched up next to ours didn't seem to take any notice of this.
The site is next to Porthclais harbour and the coastal path, and it's a short walk to St Davids. It's a short drive to Solva, and longer to Haverfordwest or Fishguard.
There isn't much in the way of rainy weather activities around. We went to Haverfordwest in the hope of something to do, but parking there is near impossible! We were much more successful in Fishguard and watched the ferries coming in from Ireland.

This basic site is a pleasure to stay at despite a very troubled evening with the wind!
The site owners and staff are extremely friendly, the reception provides ice blocks, mobile phone/camera battery charging facility and weather reports and there are a limited amount of leaflets.
There are two toliet blocks (one in a portacabin), both clean and functional. There is a washing up area and a handy wetsuit washing point. These blocks are quite a walk away if you stay in the furthest fields. They look like they are in the process of building a new facilities block. There are no facilities for children specifically but you can pitch where you want and there's loads of space for playing!
Beautiful St. Davids is a 15 minute walk away via either an overgrown footpath or a very quiet road. Less than 5 minutes drive. There is one pub (Farmers Arms) which has a large beer garden, serves food (did not try), and lets dogs in. There are also several hotels with bars which we did not try. We went to a restaurant called Cwtch for a special occasion and although seemingly expensive, it was worth every penny, the food was outstanding. St Davids have a variety of shops, but worth mentioning are the supermarket which is on the main road into St. Davids and Belmont House - an all purpose store which seems to have everything and who's staff are extremely friendly and fixed our tent pole after a windy night, enabling us to stay on holiday. The tourist information will provide you with all the info for the area. There are regular coastal bus services also and the area is good for cycling.
The wind was the only down side, this campsite is right on the coastal path and therefore exposed, go prepared and pitch somewhere as sheltered as possible. The benefits of this site way outweigh the negatives and we were there during a particularly windy period. On the upside you can watch the amazing sunset from your tent and Porthclais Harbour falls just to the right of the campsite and is ideal for fishing and kayaking.
There are too many attractions to mention, but here goes, St. Davids and Solva were beautiful, the coastal walking all around St. Davids Penninsula was fantastic, Whitesands (doesn't allow dogs in peak times) and Newgale beaches are brilliant for bodyboarding/surfing/kiting/beaching etc! The Sheepdog Demonstrations were fab. Other activites available were boat trips around Ramsey Island, Coasteering and Kayaking.
We would definitely go back again.

I have to give this campsite a 9 out of 10 but it comes with a warning (see end of review).
This campsite is on the coast just outside of St David's and has lovely views. The pitch was flat and it was open pitching. When we went, it was quite empty and we camped in the open field with no one immediately around us. Had a beautiful view of the water.
The facilities are still in the porto cabins (one for men and one for women). As I recall there were 10 stalls in the mens. In the hard facilities (quite dated) there were two stalls and a few urinals. As far as the showers, these too are in portocabins (3 men's showers) but no sink/basin for shaving (you have to go to the other porto cabin - BUT THEY ARE FREE and the water was a great temp. The shower in the older facilities cost 20p - only used as wanted to shave after shower. With this said, the portocabins were clean and adequate. Do note, it looked like they were halfway through building a brand new toilet/shower block.
There are 3 washing up sinks for dishes and they have both hot and cold water (they even have one dish drainer for communal use).
This site is off the coastal path and what wonderful views and walks! The cliffs are breathtaking.
It's also only about a 20 minute easy walk into St. David's. Had food at The Grove and some brews at Farmers Arms (friendly staff at both). There were also a few other eateries that we thought of checking out (including Morgans as they were a restaurant only using local ingredients but didn't make it, see below). There are also a few green grocers in St Davids AND a supermarket (CKs).
The office itself is open at random hours but you are allowed to fill out a form (left outside) with one nights pay and car registration details (then slip the payment and details through their letterbox) and they will come around later to get more details.
When we went there were only 2 fields open but believe they have 4 total. Even with only the 2 fields open there was PLENTY of room, MOST campers would good and left lots of room (at least 30 metres between pitches!). We were lucky and had no one near us.
MJ Dairies comes around every morning around 8.30am with fresh milk, eggs, pastries, juice and other incidentals at reasonable prices.
NOW THE WARNING. This is on the Welsh coast in Pembrokeshire so if it's windy and rainy, expect VERY WINDY conditions. We lost our tent BUT I believe this was due to the tent design and type of tent it was (we had a Coleman Waterfall 5 but have now invested in a Vango Orchy). Again, if you have a strong tent or are going there in nice weather, you couldn't ask for a better campsite!

Had a fabulous week here, despite the wind (to which others have referred). Site was immaculately clean and staff very friendly. Plenty of space and excellent free hot showers, ice packs frozen at 20p each. Easy and scenic walk into St David's along footpath. St David's has an excellent if expensive butchers and a well stocked supermarket so no need to take much food with you, buy there and support the local economy. Lots of walks with scenery a bit reminiscent of South Devon and Cornwall but nowhere near so over developed. Excellent castles and other attractions managed by the National Park, visit Castell Henllys on the Cardigan road to see a reconstructed Iron Age village. Overall a great place to go for a quiet, historical and active holiday and one of the cleanest and most scenic campsites I have stayed on in 40 years camping. No score on child friendliness as we are childfree.

I have been camping for years and this has to be one of the best kept campsites ever. The pitches are very flat and free from stones. Toilet block is very clean, showers are timed but allows plenty of time to do what you need to. You must try the croissant they are just fantastic and baked fresh every morning. There are great walks along the sea coast which is just a 5 minute walk from the site. No bar on site but there are some really nice pubs in St David & there are regular events in the cathedral stunning grounds, such a plays on the lawns and festivals of all kinds. Be prepared to baton down the hatches should it get windy because of being on the peninsular, but when the weather is kind this has to be one of the best places to camp. Great for surfing & fishing all within walking distance & there is a small car park that can get full around lunchtime. Great stretch of flat sands, perfect for little kids & big kids alike. Very well stocked shop, just make sure you take plenty of spending money as you will be spoilt for choice.
