Went camping here in the last weekend of may for the friday and sat night. Great location for dalby forest, visitor centre is walkable although the hill back up is a killer after riding the bike trails. Also a short drive from the coast, thornton-le-dale and pickering.
The site had plenty of space, toilets and showers were always clean but as previously mentioned a lack of hot water made for very quick showers. A power point for hairdriers upset the females in our group and the sheep were quite loud in the early morning. The price of £10 per night for a tent with 2 adults and a car was very good.
It is a great site if you want to go to bed early and get up very early for showers and noise reasons. Not ideal for a group who want to have a beer and sit talking quietly on an evening.

Spent the bank holiday weekend at Pexton Moor.
Overall a nice site. Quiet and rural. Showers and toilets very clean, however if you go for a shower after 8am the showers were cold. Nowhere to plug in hairdryer either - luckily weather was gorgeous so wasn't the end of the world!
The site is very open, and on a windy day a few tents were taking a bit of a battering.
Not sure that I would go back again. The location was good - right on the door step of Dalby Forest, and plenty of attractions very close by - North York Moors Railway a must! The showers were a big let down to what could have been an excellent site.

Site came recommended to us by a friend. Situated at the gate to Dalby Forest it is a great little site.
Just spent weekend 15/16 May at this site, which is a medium sized field with a good toilet / shower block which is very clean and tidy. Washing up facilities outside with drinking water etc.
There was a good mix of tourers and tents, people very friendly. During the day everyone seemed to go off and do the many things available around the site. We paid our £7 and drove into the forest. This was well worth it. There is a great visitors centre, bike hire, cafe and restaurant, a couple of fab children's play areas. My lad who's 10 would have stayed in the play area all day! Great cycle trails and a good bike park, which look awesome for all abilities. Only down side we thought was that from the entrance it was 3.5 miles to the visitors centre where most things started from. Too far for little ones to cycle or walk to and then do the trails etc and then have to come back that distance too, so you have to take your bikes and your car into the Forest. Probably made this way to gain the entrance money just thought I would mention this in case someone thinks that its not a great distance, it is, the grown men and very fit mountain bikers who were on our site struggled to get back out and had to get their van to come in and pick them up as we passed them walking very slowly back down the road to the exit.
Lovely lake to walk around and lots of areas where the stream which runs through the park is accessible, shallow and kids and pets can muck about in it. Dogs are welcome and ours was off the lead most of the time and safe. Spent all day in their and could have stayed longer.
From the site we were able to walk in and on both evenings we set off about 9.30 for a walk in the woods. Good for confidence building in your kids! as it soon got dark and scary.
Thornton le Dale is a few minutes drive away and has most of the shops you would need, costcutters, lots of bakers, fish and chips, sweets, papers, booze, nice antique shops and generally a nice little village.
Down side was the second night the sheep / lambs came into the field right behind us and baa'd all night sometimes right up to our tent. Aah the countryside, ok if you're a deep sleeper, unfortunately me and my spaniel were not. But this is the beautiful countryside and it was outstanding and in the light of day the lambs were very sweet. The lady who runs the site let me and my little lad feed two orphan lambs with bottles, made the day end on a nice note. Thank you.
Would definitely go back.

Just back from this lovely site. Great views. Local pubs etc all good value for money. Very handy for travelling around sightseeing. Right on the edge of the forest, great if you love walking. Site very clean and tidy, showers hot and free. We will be back.

A warm welcome on our late arrival. The facilities were well maintained and the showers were hot! Lovely. A perfect position for the forest, not far from our beloved town of Whitby. Let down only by the non availability of average priced local eateries. Will be recommending to friends and definitely returning.

Spent long weekend here. Had no problems at all. Very pleasant friendly site. Wendy (owner) kept the site immaculate at all times. Toilets and showers are kept clean and are warm. Lovely views. Managed to blow electrics on a number of occasions owners more than willing to get us back up and running straight away day and night. No play area for kids, but they spent hours running up and down. Dalby forest entrance is a 2 minute walk away so plenty to do in there. Will be going back again had a great time.

What a brilliant, clean peaceful and friendly site.
First time we had been here, there were 9 of us 4 adults and 5 kids. We had a brilliant time.
Wendy was always working her socks off.
The toilets were very spotlessly clean as Wendy cleaned them 4 or 5 times a day even after 10pm.
We had a few walks into the forest late at night which was good.
There were quite a few children on site but don't be put off by this because they are all well behaved.
We are thinking of going back during 6 weeks hols.
I would like to say that there is only one thing missing from this site that is a play area for the kids. I am sure it would be fine just in the sheep field.
Other than that no bad comments from us we all loved it.

We stayed at this campsite for a long weekend. The owners were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The toilet and shower block was very clean, there were 3 toilets and 2 showers in the ladies and I think the same in mens. Maybe would benefit from another toilet and shower in each block, but didn't witness any queues and the water was nice and hot. There is also a sink for washing up.
The views from this site are absolutely panoramic. The entrance is within sight of the paybooth of Dalby Forest. Because of its location, it is so peaceful and relaxing. A small but lovely place to spend a holiday, and one we would certainly use again.
There is so much to see and do in the area. Firstly Dalby forest is a must and though it costs £7 for a car, it is so huge you would miss so much by not having some transport. There is a bmx track which looks very impressive and if you want to monkey around 'go ape' a wonderful activity in the trees. Places for picnics, barbecues, walks, bike hire and acres of scenery.
Thornton le dale is so pretty and have a great meal in the New Inn. Not far from Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay. The North Yorkshire Moors railway, Pickering, Goathland (Heartbeat) etc. I could go on and on about everything to see and do but there's too much to list. Everything for young and old alike and this site is central to explore north Yorkshire

A friendly welcome and the owners were very accommodating as we were a party of 12 split between 2 tents and a caravan. The owners ensured we were pitched together with hook-ups.
The site had been churned up at the entrance (hardly surprising given the relentless rain) and the weather was atrocious but that didn't stop us from having a good holiday!
The location is superb and Dalby forest is well worth the £7 entry fee. Great days out to be had in Pickering, Whitby etc. All within easy driving distance.
The site facilities were good but a little more could be made of the space in the toilet blocks, it was busy at times and another toilet and shower would not go amiss. The washing facilities are good albeit there was only one sink.
The children were allowed to play in the adjoining field and the forest was right outside the gate. There are plenty of good walks for dogs (and kids!) and an excellent vet in Pickering should you need one in an emergency (like we did!). We were all glad we endured the weather and stayed.
We would return again.

Our first visit to this lovely site, 2 adults and dog. The area has seen lots of rain recently and the site wasn't at it's best, but you can hardly blame the owners for the weather. It was raining quite heavily when we arrived and we struggled to site the caravan so the owner (Wendy?) assisted with the 4x4. We joked about booking for 3 nights but only staying for one and were told that wouldn't be a problem and we were allowed to pay for a night single night, just to see how things went. It didn't stop raining all day but the next morning it was a completely different story. The sky was blue, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and we couldn't believe the difference. We hung up our raincoats, put on our shorts and t.Shirts and set off for a few hours rambling through the Forest.
We didn't have any problem with the facilities at Pexton Moor Farm - one of our priorities is clean toilets and the toilets at passed with flying colours. We thought the price was very fair and it was nice to visit a site who didn't charge additional fees for dogs, awnings, annexes, pup tents, extra cars etc.
The owners are very friendly. They are in the process of developing the site and were keen to ask our opinions about what we expect and how we thought things could be improved. We really felt that our views and opinions mattered.
We liked this site. It's in a lovely position, run by helpful and accommodating owners and we wish them well with their re-development. If we were in the area again we would definitely return to this site.
