Just got home from a lovely stay at Pexton Moor.
The location is great for Dalby Forest, the entrance is just outside the site with a short walk down a hill to the visitors centre. We took two bikes and this meant we didn't pay the £7 entrance fee to Dalby Forest.
The site is flat with spacious pitches with beautiful views across the Yorkshire countryside. The facilities were good, hot showers, hot dishwater and very clean.
We will definitely be returning soon.

Just returned from a super stay at Pexton Moor Farm
The facilities were spotless with endless supplies of hot water.
It is in a great location with Dalby Forest on your door step and rolling fields and countryside at the other side
We were given a great Yorkshire warm welcome from Wendy and her hubby who never seemed to stop working around the campsite.
With beautiful villages, seaside towns and babbling brooks all around the area, the setting was simply idyllic!
We'll definitely stay again and will recommend this site to our friends.

When we arrived at the campsite we were greeted by Wendy and the formal details were done (paying cash). Wendy then took us to our pitch and showed us where the wash facilities and toilets were. The campsite itself was clean and we were very impressed at how flat it was. After putting up our tent we went to check out the dish washing facility and I have to say it was clean but only one (yes I repeat only one) sink for a full campsite to do their washing up was a total let down.
Then onto the toilets which were clean, but again only one large shower cubicle, two toilets and a disabled shower/toilet cubicle. The handbasins were tiny and there was no room to put down your toiletries (one lady had them on top of the bin lid).
We used the shower the next morning at about 10am and was gobsmacked and annoyed as there was no hot water apparently it had run off. Consequently no hot water to do washing up. We felt that the facilities have let a beautiful site down.

Just had a lovely relaxing weekend on this site. As always we received a warm and friendly greeting on arrival. As regulars to this site Wendy puts us on our usual spot, so no need to be shown where!
The toilet block was very clean and tidy, as usual, with plenty of hot water for showers and also for washing up.
There isn't a playground on this site, but seeing as our children are now teenagers this is ok. No ball games are allowed on the site, but this is a bonus as our dogs would be dying to join in and probably burst the balls!
The site is ideal for visiting the local area, we've been visiting this area for about 14 years and still find places we haven't seen.
As the site is on the doorstep of Dalby forest, it is ideal for bikers and walkers. You can walk into the forest, but the trek back up the hill is a bit tough!
We will definitely be returning and have already booked several more visits.

We visited this lovely site in May for four nights. Access to the site is via a B road but is in good condition and of reasonable width. The site is on the left at the top of the road. You turn into the farm yard (reception is on the left).
Once booked in Wendy shows you to your pitch (the owners are campers themselves and passionate about our hobby). The pitches seem to be very flat, we had one close to the immensities block with EHU. A point here, you will need some rock pegs there seemed to be shale or hardcore just under the surface on the pitch we used. The view is lovely and one we enjoyed whilst draining a couple of glasses.
The amenities block was cleaned regularly and spotlessly clean even after the worst young children (not under supervision) could inflict. The gents block contained two showers (one disabled) and three toilet cubicles (again one in the disabled unit). However I only had to queue once. One downside was that on finally getting a shower it was only just aired, similarly was the case for washing up, I don't know if this is normal or just a one off.
Whilst we were there the site was about half full with another field used by a rally (not sure if they used the same amenities though).
Plenty to do and look at close to the site, the entrance to Dalby Forest is just next door (we didn't sample this as it seemed a bit expensive for us two but maybe not if there are more of you). Pickering is just a couple of miles away (we love the steam trains), Whitby, York, Scarborough, Bridlington and the North Yorkshire moors are all within easy reach.
Would we go back? Yes we shall, and hopefully quite soon.

Wendy the lady owner greeted us on arrival & was very welcoming, she pointed out all the main facilities & then left us to pitch up. We had pitch 4 which I wouldn't recommend due to the fact it was right in front of the washing up & toilet buildings. We felt we had little privacy & were on the edge of a 'hot spot' for the toilets! We would request pitch 5 or 6 were we to visit again.
The facilities were spotless but we found hot water to be an issue. There was no hot water to wash our pots & I had to have a cold shower!
We went on a bank hol weekend & there were 10 other tents plus about 6 caravans so the site was no where near full. The site is small & I feel 30 pitches is too many as it would feel very much like everyone was top of each other.
We would go back but not on a bank hol & we would request a different pitch. A mid week visit would prob suit us better. It was good value at £15 a night for two adults with hook up but I feel the hot water situation does need sorting!
One other thing to point out is that there are lots of 'no noise' signs after 11pm. This was not supported by the owners on our visit when a big group of bikers came back around midnight & were making an awful lot of noise which woke both of us up.

Just got back from a couple of days camping at Pexton moor and had an enjoyable time exploring Dalby Forest. When we arrived at the camp site we got shown to our pitch by the friendly lady owner. We had asked for electric hook-up but our pitch didn't have it, but the owner run us a cable round so we could plug in.
After we pitched I realised the regulator for our new camping stove was duff (no thread on the connector!) so one of the staff tried to dig me one out from his many spares unfortunately they didn't have one, but he did point me in the right direction to find a local supplier
The Facilities are basic but where kept clean all the time we where there and there was always plently of hot water for washing/washing up.
Site was a mix of couples, families and a couple of groups, the place would be an excellent site for mountain bikers and walkers, but maybe not so much for families as they do not allow ball games and there is no play area.
Overall I had an enjoyable time at Pexton Moor

We have just returned from our first visit to Pexton Moor Farm where we spent 5 nights. This is certainly a site we will visit again, it is well maintained and managed by Wendy, the owner, and is wonderfully located.
With regards to the site, the pitches are generous and flat and the toilet and shower facilities were more than adequate.
Although, as others have mentioned there is only one 'pot wash' sink, the occasional delay allowed more time to enjoy the views.
There are many families with young children on this site and the appearance of a rowdy/uncouth group was swiftly dealt with.
The majority of those on site had Mountain Bikes and for them Dalby Forest was literally on their doorstep.
For us the location was ideal for us to enjoy days out in Whitby & Scarborough as well as the Moors.

Wonderfully warm and friendly owners made us feel right at home. Dalby forest is right on your doorstep. Facilities are good and clean and the campsite is nice and flat with good drainage, unlike others that we have stayed on.
The price was very good too and we stayed a few extra nights, Wendy managed to squeeze us in. Thanks for a lovely time. Kids had a great time and the site was so quiet that we even got a long lie in the morning. Devine!
Will definitely visit again as the site is within easy reach of many lovely places; Thornton Le Dale, Whitby, Malton etc. Very handy for great bike rides in Dalby forest too and free entry if you take the bikes down that hill.

Just arrived back from a weekend at Pexton Moor. The site itself is immediately outside of the Thornton Le Dale entrance to Dalby Forrest and the view over the vale of Pickering is beautiful. The site is nice and flat and we had no problem with hard ground. The tent pitches are large and there is plenty of room for larger tents and a vehicle. You are not too close to your neighbours either! All units are close to the bathroom facilities which are kept spotlessly clean. There were 2 showers in the ladies with 2 separate toilets. We didn't have to queue but maybe a problem if site is full. Washing up facilities were adequate and the site itself was tidy and obviously is being improved all the time. The owners were very friendly and helpful and rates were very reasonable. We will definitely be visiting again, our whole party of 9 have had a fantastic weekend and loved Pexton Moor Farm! Even the numerous thunderstorms haven't put us off!
