Had great time with 2 adults 3 children.
Walked to Dalby forest visitor centre great exercise for all.
Drove through forest road to Dawsons dip or what ever it was called. Kids had great time on bikes.
The site was great, clean, very friendly, we had a warm welcome and all the help required even when we tripped the power at 8am Sunday morning.'Sorry'
Have already booked to return with kids.

Stayed here over the August Bank Holiday weekend, £8 per night in the overflow field. This rough, sloping field is probably a sheep grazing field, as there were lots of sheep droppings! Thank goodness for our footprint! The 20 unit figure appears to correspond to the main camping area, where hook ups are available. However, one caravanner did tell me that he needed his extension to make the hook up reach his pitch. The shower and toilet block is excellent, but ladies were queueing up in the morning. Hand wash and toilet roll was supplied. Less grand are two original toilets still in use behind the farmhouse if you preferred. The next field, which also belonged to Pexton Moor Farm was fully occupied with an estimated 80+ touring caravans. The site had a range of campers: families, groups of young men and couples, and all were very peaceful. Sited on an overflow field meant we didn't have to rush to depart, which made packing up stress-free. Would definitely visit again, the facilities are very clean and the surrounding area is lovely, a few miles from Pickering and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which runs all the way to Whitby.

We've just returned from spending August Bank Holiday on this site. The shower and toilet block were spotless. We did'nt find any problems with the fact that there is only two WC's and two showers per [M&F] block, despite the fact that the site was full due to it being Bank Hol weekend. The grass is well cut and there seemed to be a small childrens play area in one of the outbuildings [ we did'nt take too much notice though,as we have no children of our own] The site is handy for Thornton - Le - Dale [1.5 miles] and Pickering [3 miles]. The road from Thornton Dale past the site also offers a route into Whitby [19 miles] missing out the bottleneck of Pickering. The Forest Drive, situated right next to the entrance looked attractive, although at £7 per car, personally I would say its a tad expensive just to "drive through a forest",so we did'nt bother. Our dog enjoyed the walks in the forest. We spent a day travelling from Pickering to Whitby on the North Yorks Moors Railway, and also visiting the lovely villages of Thornton-Le-Dale,Hutton-Le-Hole and Goathland [aka, Aidensfield of TV "Heartbeat" fame]. Flamingoland and Scarborough are also within easy reach. The view from the site is lovely, although I suspect it could be a bit "open" if the wind is in the wrong direction,we had a couple of stunning sunsets while we were there. We even found the site owner most helpful when our car refused to start after arriving, although after a tow-start all was fine again [and I still have'nt found what the problem was] We will definitely be going back to this site.

Ideal little site for walking in Dalby Forest. We were testing out a new tent so only stayed for 2 nights, but would return for a longer break with no hesitation. The toilet/shower block although small was always clean and there is a chemical toilet disposal area. The site owners were friendly. Electric hookups were available for both caravans and tents. The site is close to Thornton Dale and Pickering so is in an excellent position for touring the area. It is a very popular site so you need to book ahead.

This is a lovely little site and we had a lovely time staying here. The owners are very friendly and helpful, especially when the showers were only producing cold water they tried to fix the problem as fast as they could- though they did blow a fuse again, but these things happen. I did find a problem with the toilet block towards the end of my stay (not because of the cold showers!) just the number of people on the site and the number of toilets and showers. There are only 2 toilets and 2 showers (one of which is a toilet and shower combined!) and this did lead to some waiting around, especially in the morning. That said I would definitely go back, but hopefully when it is not quite so busy.

Just stayed here in our camper van "little mo" and thought it was BRILLIANT!, We stayed because of going to see James Morrison & Travis but will definitely go back with our two children. It is situated right next to the toll booth to Dalby Forest and has gorgeous view`s, it is very quiet and the brand new toilet facilities are second to none! The owner`s are the best we have encountered and seem to need very little sleep as they are there to welcome you and to see you off!The hook-up`s are in a field next to the farm house, toilet block etc and the tent`s are in one of the other adjoining field`s, while we were there the tent field enjoyed a little sing song which we found enjoyable rather than anything and if your after a nice quiet, small, really Friendly place then this is it.Really can`t recommend this enough and at £5 a head per night for tent`s and £9.50 a night for hook-up`s it`s very reasonable!
