My family and I found this to be a very warm and friendly site.
It provides clean toilets, showers and washing-up facilities. All part of the reasonable charge.
They are also encouraging all guests to recycle by providing all relevant waste bins.
I will be telling people about this site as it is perfect for campers of all ages(our age range was from 2 to 64)
The site is ideally placed for anyone who likes walking or cycling as it is next to Dalby Forest, which is a superb protected natural forest with many interesting walks.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay and we will definitely return to this site. Although the site was not full whilst we were there, there was plenty of space on the main field between pitches and the charge of £12 per night for a family of 4 with a motorhome needing electric hook up was very reasonable. Despite the heavy rainfall this month, the ground was not overly soggy and the owners did their best to keep the ground from being churned up by asking campers to park their cars in the adjacent yard overnight. Although there were no facilities for locking bikes away, the owners did allow us to lock our bikes in their shed overnight. The welcome from the owners was warm and hospitable and they were eager to please. The toilet blocks were cleaned regularly throughout the day, and soap and paper handtowels were provided. It would however have been beneficial to have some urinals in the gents loos. The location of the site cannot be beaten for anyone wanting Dalby Forest on their doorstep. A useful tip is that the £7 daily charge for going into the Forest can be exchanged at the Forest's Visitors Centre for a weekly pass which costs just £10. This isn't advertised as you come into the Forest so it is worth knowing. This site is in an extremely peaceful location with beautiful views of the countryside. There was no disturbance from other campers whilst we were there and everyone seemed very considerate. As well as a couple of local pubs in Thornton-le-dale, there are also some nice pubs and restaurants in Pickering which is only a four mile drive away. Well worth a return visit.

We stayed on this campsite August Bank holiday and had a really good time. We were allocated a pitch on the overflow field and were very relieved as the main site (with short grass) was very muddy but you do have to walk through this to get to the shower block (really pleased I took my wellies). It had rained for nearly two weeks prior to our visit so what can you expect? The long grass on the overflow field was really not a problem! The overflow field and the main field were not overcrowded and there was plenty of space between tents and we were told by the owner that the site was fully booked. The only tents that were close together were groups of people who had pitched their tents conveniently together. The toilet block was cleaned frequently and toilet paper was replenished (just in time on some occasions!)The most I ever saw queuing for the showers was 1 person, however the men were queuing out of the door to use the loo on one morning! My only complaint would be there was no soap provided. It's only a short walk from the overflow tent field to the toilet block (definitely not 5 mins) It was so short a distance I was confident letting my 7 year old go to the loo on his own during the day. There was another overflow field for the caravans and this did look quite a walk but not such a great hardship if you are in a caravan with toilet and shower facilities! The site is located in a perfect spot for cyclists with Dalby Forest right on your doorstep and only a short drive to Thornton le Dale (lovely village with great chippy, tea rooms and a chocolate factory !) and Pickering (a lovely place to visit, again with lots of tea rooms and nice shops. Yes I do like a good tea room!) We also visited Castle Howard and loved it, it has a fantastic new adventure playground that would make any adult wish they were kids again! We will definitely visit this campsite again and at only £8 per night (for 2) plus £1 a night per extra person it was a bargain and really can't complain.

Just returned from this site and can't rate it enough. Great location for Dalby Forest (Take your wellies and paddle in the beck!) and the market town of Pickering.
The friendly owners couldn't have done more to help us feel welcome. Despite v. Wet weather and large amounts of mud the toilet facilities were kept clean, the other campers were friendly but not intrusive (a nice mix of old and young) and we had everything we needed for a great time!
Would recommend a stay.

Stayed at this site for three nights (Thur-Sun) during a very wet spell in August. Luckily we were allocated a pitch in the main field, rather than the overflow field which is quite a walk away. The wet weather meant that the field was sodden and completely churned up where people had driven on it, wellies were definitely needed.
The site is in a brilliant location right on the edge of the Dalby forest so you can walk out of your tent and be on one of the walking trails within 2 minutes. There are some lovely views from the site too. It is nice and quiet at night as the Dalby Forest road shuts at 8pm so no traffic noise. Thornton-le-Dale is only a 2 minute drive away where The Buck Hotel does some lovely, good value food. There is also a nice chippy, a cracking ice cream shop, and a duck pond. Pickering is only 5 mins away where you can catch the steam railway to Whitby (hopping on and off the train as you like) for £20 - a lovely day out.
The facilities at the farm are quite limited (2 loos, 2 showers for ladies and gents) and there is no soap provided for handwashing, but the block is kept very clean. Our main issue with the site was that it was very cramped; pitches were so tight together that there had to be some creativity with the placing of tent guy ropes, and children kept running around and tripping over the ropes as there was not enough space for them to play safely. The topsoil is very shallow and we bent several tent pegs on the stony ground below. Also, on two of our three nights there, campers turned up after 11pm and proceeded to pitch very noisily which was annoying considering there were signs requesting silence after this time and that most sites ask people to have arrived by 9pm so as not to disturb anyone sleeping.
All things being said we did have a lovely time and it was a bargain at just £8 per night for 2 people.

Stayed in the overflow field which was 5 min walk from the toilet block. The field had a bit of a slope and the grass was too long. Only one tap at the top of the field. The toilet block was new but not very well thought out. The floor was always wet, not enough places to put or hang things, no power points, and no soap for handwashing. The water was nice & hot, but it soon ran out & the site was not full, no light in the washing up area. As a family site this is not the best, but if you just want a place to stay a couple of nights whilst out walking or riding it's OK. The owners are very nice & mean well, but we got the feeling they don't yet fully understand the needs of most campers. A secure area to lock bikes up would be a good idea. However the site is in a good position for biking in the forest, as you can bike in from the site so avoiding the £7 toll for the car.

Visited this lovely site last weekend and went to the traction rally. This site is in a beautiful location on the edge of the forest which was great as we have two dogs it is also near the coast Whitby and Scarborough The only problem with the site was not enough facilities ie toilets, showers for the number of tents on the site but other than that it was perfect.

This is a really lovely site. We normally use Caravan Club Sites, but found this and thought we would give it a go. The owners are so friendly and approachable, offering those little extra touches, an information board, magazines and displaying the latest weather forecasts. The location is superb right on the edge of the forest, we spent many hours with our children biking and walking, and spending time next to the beck, which runs all the way through the forest.
There is a charge of £7 to take your car through the forest but we thought it was worth it and spent the day in there, stopping at various places. Whitby and Scarborough are only 20-25 minutes in the car. Pickering and Thornton le dale 5-10 mins away with excellent butchers, bakery, and chippy. Eden Camp Musuem only 15 minutes away. Toilets/Showers were always clean and we never had to queue. Views and location are wonderful and we will certainly be going back!

We visited here as a large family group 27 people and 9 tents the owners were very welcoming and made sure all of our family had pitches together. The pitches are large enough for any size tent as well as gazebo and wind breakers with room to spare. There is only 2 showers and 2 toilets in both male and female blocks but no matter what time we used these none of us had to queue. The camp site is right next to the entrance to the forest. The cost at £8 per night for a tent with 2 people and a £1 extra for each person sharing was very reasonable. Excellent site for dog walking. Only 10mins car ride to nearest shops. Will definitely use this site again.

A good campsite situated at the entrance to Dalby where there's a lot going on.
The toilet and shower facilities are very good and the site is reasonably priced.
When we stayed the site was quite wet and therefore the pitches were sodden. Would recommend.
