We have just spent 4 nights at this campsite and it was really pleasant. We phoned Monday morning for a pitch that night and were told to 'come along'. Our pitch was lovely, really spacious, with a sea-view and not over-looked by other campers, though a little too close to the toilet block. At night, the site quietened down very quickly, silent by 10:30 which was perfect as we have small children. The wind at night was howling though, coming in from the sea. The play area was huge with plenty of equipment. The shop was basic but fine. All in all, a nice, attractive and friendly site.

This was the 1st site that we ever camped on having just bought a Khyam Nebraska Deluxe in April. Frankly we could not have made a better choice. We were shown to a pitch in the lower meadow [141 I think] which had fantastic views across the village & down to the sea, wonderful! The pitches are slightly on the small side for our whopping Nebraska, so we did feel slightly on top of our neighbours and will as a result be investing in an extra windbreak or two. The toilets were very clean & warm and went a long way to dismissing any fears that we had about camping in the UK. We're planning another quick weekender soon before heading off to France in August. We will certainly consider returning to this site & the lovely surrounding area. Just one word of caution, there are no local/late night petrol stations as we found out to our cost!

Fantastic site close to Sidmouth which is a very pretty seaside town. The site is spacious with loads of free space in the centers of each field (2) to play games. The hygiene facilities are excellent and heated. We stayed at Easter and the owners laid on a treasure hunt which the children loved. You can walk to Sidmouth via the cast which is lovely. Also nearby is the Donkey Sanctuary (free), Beer mines, Branscombe village and Lyme Regis. Been there twice and would definitely go again.

This is the second time we have camped at his site and if you are looking for peace tranquility and wonderful scenery this is the site for you. Rowdiness is not tolerated , a refreshing change from some other camp sites . The walk to the beach is approx 30mins but who's counting your on holiday . On the way to the beach you pass a church a real hidden jem and they do afternoon tea and homemade cakes all very English and for a couple of pound a real bargain. There is so much to do all around this area the staff are always willing to advise you. What more can I say we have already booked for July 2007

We stayed for 3 nights over the May bank holiday with another family and the site was quite full. A lot of reviews mention the shower block, it was not very big but it was adequate and clean. The pitches were of a good size and most had wooden tables provided, water and electricity was between the pitches. The site is situated on top of a hill which was very windy when we visited - good for flying kites. We enjoyed our stay with loads of space for the kids to run about and play. The walk to the beach is quite a trek but good fun we didn't fancy the walk back up the hill so we carried along the beach to Sidmouth and got a lift back to the camp site. Recommended.

We have enjoyed a lovely weekend at this site, which we found very peaceful even though it was quite full. We were on the main field on entering the site. Everyone was very friendly and one of the site managers helped my husband push the caravan on to the hard standing pitch which certainly saved an argument with me having to guide him back! The dog field was lovely, the only small criticism would be that the gate going back on to the camping field had a huge gap underneath which our dog ran under and almost straight into someone's tent -perhaps some chicken wire needed here! I do agree with other comments regarding the showers being cramped - this is the case compared to some sites we have stayed on, although they are very clean and wouldn't stop us from revisiting. It was a little bit of a rush to be off by 10am, an extra hour would have made all the difference. We did think about staying until the afternoon and could have done this for an extra £5. Lots of lovely walks nearby the site, including woodland, coast and of course the donkey sanctuary - all perfect for dogs.

What a lovely site, clean facilities, lovely views, picnic table for each plot, lots of hook up points, quiet bliss. The signposts to the beach from the campsite don't indicate that it is a long way through cow filled fields and then a steep slope down to the beach. The only downside to our very short stay was that as we had not realised that we had to be gone by 10:30am they asked us to leave! we had taken a walk to the beach which turned out to be a lot longer than we thought. There were lots of pitches available and there was really no need for us to go so early. We packed up quickly and were off by 12:30, then we went for a shower! we've never encountered this before and found it a bit strange. Would definitely recommend it but make sure you're gone by 10:30!

Excellent site, very clean and tidy, disagree with comments above about rules. Very friendly reception etc. Good sized pitches and very child friendly. Would recommend, do agree that loo block was a bit of a walk, but even over the busy August bank holiday weekend did not have to wait for a shower! Give it a go great site!

We have just returned from this site following a week's camping. Unfortunately our experience was not a particularly pleasant one. In the first instance our pitch was on quite a considerable slope. We spent a lot of time rolling into one another in bed at night (luckily we're a close family!) and items that were put on a table, slipped off! Secondly we found the shower blocks to be in need of complete renovation.Better facilities are desperately needed to justify the prices charged at this site. The cubicles were small (far too small to get dressed in) and often the facilities were dirty. On the plus side, the washing up facilities were good. The views from our tent out to sea were lovely and the children's play area was great. Sadly these weren't enough for us to consider returning to this site.

Absolutely love this site, by far my favourite area of Devon, very nice pitches not too close together and excellent facilities for the pooches! Toilets and showers were spotlessly clean all day including when I went at 4am and provided soap washing up area also kept spotless. Good camp shop and very friendly staff. Will definitely be visiting again! You can also take your dog on the beach at Sidmouth Jacobs Ladder beach and to the left at Beer beach all year round which is worth noting. I also recommend eating fish and chips on Beer beach in the evening my idea of heaven!
