To correct an earlier review, this is the campsite next to the road north of Beadnell (check map if unsure). It doesn't accept caravans - just motorhomes and tents. There is also a Beadnell Bay Caravan site at the south end of the village. This is a Camping & Caravan Club site, and as such meets their standards. Toilets are clean, free showers, washing up spot etc. Etc. .and more unusually a wetsuite wash area. Distance between pitches is guaranteed and the wardens should prevent any rowdiness (although we've never experienced any). NB - There aren't any children's play facilities here. We visited a few times in 2006 and will be going back in 2007 - mostly because it is a reasonable walk to the nicer Beadnell Bay beach at the other end of the village. The campsite is split into 3 adjoining fields, and they try to keep families with children in the one at the rear, away from the road. It is the also the most sheltered of the 3 fields . You are right on the North East coast after all!

Nice site - excellent location with a beach right across the road and views of the Cheviots to the other side. Basic facilities: no electric hook-up or playground or much space for the kids to play (space was a bit tight as they were almost full). The time to go now is in the next year or so, because apparently they are not going to invest any more in this site as the lease for the land will be up in a few years. If you're booking, try to ask for a pitch in the lower field as that is a tiny bit more sheltered and further from the road. However, if it has been wet weather for a while this may become water logged. Most of the pitches are fairly level but a few looked a bit on the sloping side to me, and I would not have liked to be right next to the toilet block/reception/entrance. The wardens were very friendly and helpful and the toilets were kept quite clean. Site has a very good position just outside the village which has a couple of good pubs - try the Craster Arms which has a good menu. There is a shop stocking a good range of things, and a chippy which also does pizzas, right next to the site. A couple of minutes up the road is Seahouses where there is a range of fish and chip shops. Any number of places to visit in the area. We would go back.

Great site right next to the beach can get very breezy at times. Toilet block spotless. Staff helpful.Didnt experience any noise from road. Well situated for all local attractions. No bad points we did get the sea mist for three days but easy to go inland. Would go back

This site is superbly located for walkable local facilities and is handy for the Farne Islands and Seahouses. The toilet and shower facilities were a little tired - not what you expect at this price. We made the mistake of pitching by the roadside. There is some really heavy traffic, even during the night. However, a sunrise over the sea and some Seahouses kippers for breakfast compensated for this.

This was our first camping trip for a long long time and the first for my 7 year old daughter!
Booking was not easy as the phone was not answered when we called but eventually we got through.
On arrival the site personnel were very welcoming and helpful. Gale force winds were forecast which were advertised on the notice board outside! Luckily we avoided them but it was a windy night!
Overall we were impressed with the site and the rules especially no noise after 11pm which was observed by fellow campers (except for the snorer - you know who you are!).
Facilities were fine - a little old but very clean.
Chippy close by - very nice.
Good shop and excellent pub (The Crastner Arms) nearby too. The pub was fine with kids too.
Beach at Bamburgh was great.
Would visit here again now we have the camping bug!

June 2005 This is a Caravan and Camping Club site for tents, trailer tents and motorhomes - no caravans allowed!
If you aren't members you can still visit but it costs £5 extra per unit per night.
Although situated next to the fairly busy coast road this is a nice site as its directly opposite (across the road) a wide expanse of beach.
Good facilities with very hot free showers. Reception/ shop sells a few camping supplies such as gas and tent pegs.
A very organised site (if you like that kind of thing) - we were shown to a pitch, told where to park, and the vehicle access gate is locked each night at 11pm! However its a friendly site with good level pitches.
Lovely area - 5 minutes from the site is 'On the Beach' a chip shop and pizza takeaway, which also has a restaurant with fantastic sea veiws, seving traditional meals and pizzas. Also a post office/ stores only open in the day and not Sat pm or Sunday. In Beadnell village there is a fantastic pub called the Crastnell Arms, great beer, nice looking food and a great beer garden only a 10 minute walk from the site. Beadnell harbour also makes a nice walk, there are old lime kilns to take a look at.

April 2005 We were pitched in the field nearest the road, as the other field was waterlogged. The traffic noise seemed really bad at first as the road is very close and quite busy, but after a while we seemed to get used to the (fairly) constant traffic.
The site itself was well managed and the toilet block clean with free showers which were always hot. The site wardens were friendly and helpful.
Being a Camping and Caravanning Club site there are lots of rules to obey. Someone in a tent pitched near us got very annoyed when we broke the 'no noise after 11 pm' rule by chatting outside at 11.15 pm.
The beach opposite the campsite was OK, but we have been to much better ones in Northumberland (e.g. Bamburgh). After talking to others about this after the trip, I think we may have missed a better beach at the other end of Beadnell village.
The weather was very wet so we spent an afternoon getting everyone warm and dry at an indoor play area in Amble that we found using Yellow Pages.
We wouldn't visit this site again due to the closeness of the road.

May 2005 I tried to book 3 nights stay, but unable to book via internet, also tried to telephone, but no-one available to take booking, (as informed by Manager !!!!) and to call again in couple of days, decided to book elsewhere in area, if you do intend on staying there, just turn up and hope for best, seems a shame as other reviews are very good, would have loved to try it, as very local and sounds ideal for regular weekend visits

August 2003 Really liked this site a lot. It is expensive being a non-member BUT, the location is totally ideal for the beach, and therefore well worth every penny. Facilities I found basic, but all that you needed. Slight gripe was we were by the road, and it seemed to be used as a boy racer alley at night when we were there. But to fulfill my desire of watching the sunrise over the horizon it was perfect. Literally just walk over the road and there is the beach. Co-op in Seashouses, just down the road. The only thing we went for is the beach, and there it is, what more could you ask for?!
