The site is generally flat, where the pitches have been used over time the actual footprint area of the tent is very uneven and could do with some maintenance. Even though we paid for a jumbo pitch with EHU our set up was on the limit of the pitch on three sides - so no option to reposition the tent.
As others have mentioned the toilet block is showing its age and to finish drying post a shower - best done outside of the cubicle as the floor gets flooded on all.
Hot water is hot - OK for adults - but warning when showering small children. Despite the criticism the wash block is kept clean.
No playground, but the beach is adjacent to the site and kids had many happy hours rock pooling. If you want a play area the local park in Beadnell bay suffices.
We had a wet and cold week - but the local area more than made up for it - especially if like me you love Castles and Beaches.
If you love smoked fish then the smokery in Seahouses comes highly recommended.
A great touring location.

This was our first visit to this site but certainly won't be our last. The stewards were very welcoming and the site was clean and tidy. It was a short walk to the pub which served very good food. We walked into Seahouses along the beach and caught a boat to the Farne Islands and saw puffins, guillemots and seals.

We booked a 6 night stay at Beadnell bay during the May half term. The site was quite easy to get to - a few bendy roads but not a problem if you take it steady. We arrived and received a friendly greeting before being shown to a couple of large hard standing pitches and being able to select which one we wanted. The entrance has a barrier with access code. The toilet block is large and clean also with an access code. The toilets and shower block could do with some minor updating but apparently it is going to be getting a large refurbishment soon. There is a path directly into seahouses and Beadnell and takes about a 40 minute walk to get into seahouses. The beach is directly opposite and easily accessed from the site. A minor criticism is there is no child's play area, quite surprising considering the size of the site but there's miles of beach to entertain them with rock pooling! A few reviews mention road noise. We were at the front of the site and didn't notice much noise at all. Previously pitches were adjacent to the road side but the national trust has stopped them doing this and now all pitches are further in, behind the wall - so presume this is why we found it nice and peaceful. The chemical toilet disposal is slightly cramped as it is cupboard sized, although after the first time I managed to empty and rinse it quite easily! This is a lovely site, with great walking/cycling route into Seahouses and great access to the beach. If you're staying here try Élan pizzeria - pizzas are amazing, fish and chips from one of the many restaurants in seahouses and have a drink in the Bamburgh Castle Inn - lovely views and real ales! Will definitely return!

Facilities are not good enough. Some say they have been updated. Well, they should complain to whoever updated them. My main complaint is the showers, they are too narrow for a start, the waste water runs the wrong way, under the shower curtain to the area where you need to dry yourself. Try putting clothes on without getting them wet! Impossible. I stored mine in a loo, and sneaked across with my towel shielding me to dry and change in somewhere dryer. The toilet cubicles too are too narrow for a large but not overweight person. A good redesign needed.
We booked a hard standing and had to put awning on it as well as campervan, but the gravel was not compressed enough so no grip for the tent pegs, even though we have Rock Pegs knocked in by mallet, with the consequence that any strong wind pulls them out. The site is very open and windy, but this is due to the opening of the new field away from the road. A very good hedge has been planted and will give good protection when it grows. The facilities are far too far away from this new area.
The location is good with a beach that runs between Seahouses and Beadnell just over the road.
A good bus service will take you to many places along the coast such as Craster 12 miles away by road but luckily only 7 miles along the coast if you walk back, plan your lunch at the SHIP INN and Brewery at Low Newton which is also on the coast a couple of miles from Beadnell.
The Craster Arms in Beadnell offers good food, Real Ale and is dog friendly and you get 20% off your food bill on production of your camping and caravan club card.

The Good Points
Pleasant lady on reception. We were shown to our pitch by the assistant warden who helped us to push our camper into position and gave us some tips on the area.
The beach was just across the road for a pleasant walk. The local shop just another few minutes walk away.
Very good bus service hailed from just outside the site.
Took a boat trip to the Farne islands which was wonderful and exceeded our expectations
The Bad Points
There is only 1 facilities block for 150 pitches with male and female using the same entrance which always seemed to 'smell'. As it is by reception it is a long way to walk when you have been pitched next to the road.
Water and everything just seemed to be a long way from our pitch which is unusual for a C&CC site
The Wifi signal was non existent on our pitch. As I use internet banking I had no option but to park close to reception and try and get a slightly better signal.
There seemed to be more dogs on site than humans but maybe we were just unlucky as we also had neighbours for 3 nights who talked very loudly until midnight.
We left the site a day early and definitely would not return again.

Location
Situated on the main road between Beadnell and Seahouses, and just metres from the dunes and excellent sandy beaches. Two good pubs in Beadnell - 5-10 minutes walk. Convenience store and chippy just over the road. Excellent base for exploring Northumberland's coast.
Facilities
Large flat site which has been updated in recent years with EHU and hard standing pitches. Showers etc. Of usual CCC high standards. Great team of friendly staff.
An excellent site!

When we arrived, we had booked in advance asking for electric, but after the warden had taken us to our pitch, no electric hook up. We were told there was none available, but if one came up they would tell us. Within 30 minutes the warden came back to tell us there was one now available. Which was great. We were very impressed, Loved the site we had no problem with noise from road, really didn't notice it. The down side was the showers although kept lovely and clean, the water is far to hot which you can't regulate and they were far to small. A child in the next shower cubicle to mine was crying as the water was so hot. My husband was not impressed when the water didn't seem to go down the waste channel but came back over his shoes. Does the waste channel need unblocking? The surrounding area is lovely Bamburgh castle is well worth a visit also Seahouses where we had the best fish and chips. I would love to stay there again.

Been to this site a few times and always enjoy it. There seems to of been a few changes this year. Firstly, they have a second back field which definitely makes it better as you are away from the road noise so not as many camping on the front field now. On this occasion we had a bit of an issue with how we were pitched. Got the tent up then we were asked to turn in round as we hadn't pitched the right way round. Turned it round, started to peg it out again and the staff asked us to move it across to line up exactly with the pitch boundary, which was about 5 inches across. I thought this was a bit anal, especially given that no one came and pitched next to us whilst we were there. There also seems to be a lot of signs around telling people to 'do this', 'don't do this', 'park here', 'don't park here' etc etc. Overall we had a good time but hope it doesn't start to be run too strictly as that will spoil it.

This campsite has got a great many things right and just one or two things which need attention. The staff are great - friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. The pitches are level and appear to drain well, and the grass was in good condition even on a very busy weekend in the middle of summer. The location is excellent, with a sandy beach a few minutes' walk away, and the village of Beadnell with two pubs, a fish-and-chip shop and a convenience shop is nearby. Small things, like the availability of a specific 'barbecue bin' and an outside shower to rinse off wetsuits make the site seem very friendly and well-organised. There didn't appear to be any specific facilities for children, but there are large open areas even when the site is fully booked. However, there is only one bin area, which does not have any recycling facilities and was frequently overflowing by the ends of busy days. This is located at the only facilities block, which is a very significant walk from the other end of the site and wasn't quite adequate in busy conditions - this site could definitely do with an additional (smaller?) block. The main thing which proved uncomfortable, however, was the unadjustable temperature of the showers. They were incredibly, painfully hot even for an adult, and on several occasions, children could be heard screaming and crying in pain. This is truly unacceptable on what is an extremely expensive site. This said, the showers, loos and basins were kept clean, even though they felt like a sauna. Other users have commented on the traffic noise - it could certainly be heard, but we didn't find it intrusive. Overall, a good site but with some serious flaws. If they're given attention, I'd highly recommend it for its location and staff.

Have stayed here many times over the past 20 years camping caravan and now motorhome. The site seems to continue to evolve and expand. In a really good location although close to the road this has never been an issue with us. If the road noise could be an issue book somewhere else.
Due to this being the height of the season and booking at reasonably short notice there were no electric hook up pitches available but this wasn't an issue. (No generators permitted)
Toilet shower block kept really clean and is a credit to the wardens as is the the whole site.
The mens showers are a bit of a problem in that they are small and water does not drain away and leaves the floor awash with water which is a problem when towelling off and getting clothes on again, no adjustment of temperature control is possible and although plenty of hot water they are almost at the point of scalding. The next time a refurb is carried out this problem would be resolved by installation of shower trays and temperature adjustable shower taps.
I know the wardens have a difficult job but a bit of customer relations wouldn't come amiss. The site seems to run with more of an emphasis on DO NOTS ! Witnessed several times people who were resident on the site being confronted with 'have you got a booking we are full !' or arriving slightly before the midday arrival time and being told 'your too early 'and on enquiring if an electric hook up pitch cancellation came available could we be notified the response was 'you and 200 others' a simple 'no that won't be possible' or a 'yes we will see what we can do' might have been more appropriate.
According to one of the wardens 60 Plus new electric hook ups are to be installed for next year. Further improvements could be made by way of a Motorhome waste water drive over point and rubbish recycling as at the moment all rubbish appears to go into the same dumpy bins.
Beadnell village has two good pubs. Recommend the Beadnell Towers Hotel for a meal, book up in advance at busy holiday times, the village shop near bye stocks all essentials and a walk up the coast to Seahouses and Bamburgh or down to Newton by the Sea are highly recommended if walking is part of your itinerary.
Overall a really good site and with a few more tweaks 'excellent' is on the horizon.
