Stayed here for a couple of nights, although I'd previously driven past it hundreds of times.
The site is open on 3 sides with a low shrub hedge giving a little protection to the 4th side.
Although the road runs alongside the site, road noise quietens in the early evening and is almost non-existent thereafter until next morning.
Beadnell is a few minutes walk and the beach is quite literally across the road!
All the attractions of the beautiful Northumberland Coast are at your disposal and within easy reach.
The site is level overall although the pitches themselves can be quite rocky. If you're staying in a tent, I suggest a decent mattress or airbed.
The single toilet block is rather basic and functional, and, despite a recent update and makeover, it still requires an update and makeover! But, there's plenty of hot water in both the toilets and the dish washing areas (which is located in the same block).
The wardens are friendly and knowledgeable.
The site lacks a children's play area, but, there's loads of room for ball games and to run around (and of course the beach is so close!)
Currently the site is being extended with some area being levelled and laid to seed.
Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending this site.
Enjoy,
Clark Griswold

We were a bit disappointed with our stay here. The good bits: the campsite is in a good location, right on the coast, separated from the beach by a road. On the first night the warden very helpfully showed us our pitch. The showers and toilet block were clean with fresh flowers.
Less good bits: very expensive, even with the member discount. The showers were lukewarm-cool on all the days we were there. The soap and toilet rolls weren't checked and ran out. When I mentioned they'd run out the person cleaning the toilets was quite rude.
The basin taps are on a bizarre system where once you've pushed them in they run for several minutes with no way of turning them off. The water becomes scalding hot, goes everywhere and seems wasteful.
Apart from the first night the rest of the staff seemed quite grumpy. I really hate complaining about a site and try to see the best in it but I've got to say I wouldn't be in a hurry to return.

Stayed for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend.
Great location right opposite the beach and only 5 minutes walk into the village (2 good pubs).
We had booked a grass pitch which was very flat (always a bonus ), with hook-up. Despite being close to the road it was pretty quiet.
I thought it was quite pricey though at £81 for 2 adults in a small campervan with electric hook-up.
The toilet/shower block was fine except for a problem with the water in the men's. Too much pressure in the sinks, not any water in the showers. There was an issue with getting a plumber due to bank holiday though and the person on reception dealt with the situation very well.
The weather was amazing - sunny and hot when you were out of the wind. I can imagine if the wind is blowing the site will be pretty exposed. They have planted some trees which will provide a bit more shelter when they grow.
We'd definitely stay here again, really stunning coastline with lovely beaches. If you stay eat at the Beadnell Towers Hotel and make sure you also go to Low Newton where the Ship Inn is worth a visit.

Beadnell campsite is located on a beautiful part of the Northumbrian coast with a large sandy beach leading towards Bamburgh less than 100 yds across the main road beside the site.
As others have said it can get windy here like at any coastal site, particularly if there's an Easterly blowing and only a few of the pitches in the bottom field get any shelter from this.
The area itself has lots to offer - good pubs, food, scenic walks etc. (combine all of these with a walk of about 4miles down to Low Newton along the beach to The Ship for some lovely crab sandwiches and beer brewed in their own micro brewery ).
My wife and I have been using this site over the last 6 years or so and, as previously noted the toilet blocks were becoming rather dated but have been updated for the 2011 season along with the lower camping field almost doubling in size.
Unfortunately the new toilet block is far from an improvement. There are increased numbers of showers, however the new layout is such that the water doesn't drain freely at all and as the showers share a wet floor the whole area is permanently flooded. This may not sound like a huge issue until you experience someone in a neighbouring shower relieving their bladder. Really not a highlight of the holiday experience.
Additionally there are no shelves to place anything within each cubicle and only 1 hook to hang your clothes and towel. It was quite challenging trying to get dried and dressed while having to stand in inch deep waste water.

Came for a Visit to Northumbria and caught some lovely weather, this campsite is literally a stones throw from the beautiful beach and craggy rocks that jut out from it.
The shower/toilets aren't the best but it's a good size site, with a good vibe. There's so much to do round here too! We did Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, Seahouses and a boat trip out to the Farne Islands to see puffins. All really nice and easily accessible from this little gem of a campsite.
It can get quite windy here, and the sea is very load at night! but that just makes it more exciting for me :D
There's not a great deal of pubs/restaurants close as is it is quite isolated however.

A small but very welcoming site, very friendly staff!
Facilities are basic but fine, shower/toilet block is dated but the water was always nice & hot.
We stayed for 4 days. We had 3 days of good weather but the last day was horrendous, we had to abandon the tent at 3am as it was damaged due to gale force winds, it took us 3 1/2 hours to dismantle and pack away, then we couldn't leave the site as the gate was locked!
I would strongly advise if you are staying here in a tent that you make sure it is strong enough to withstand gale force winds! Our neighbours 1 man tent blew away a mile down the road!
The owners will be refurbing the site soon I was told, they are moving it further back away from the road and possibly updating the facilities.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay here, I would say the site is more suited to motor-homes than tents (the road noise may bother some people). I would stay here again. Preferably in a motor-home though! Ha ha.

My wife and I visited this site in August 2010, we were not warned about the wind but that was OK as this was the North, we expect anything up there. We pulled into the site with our motorhome and stopped in the parking area, I went into the office and what a warm welcome, very pleasing. We then went onto the lumpy, bumpy field and finally got our unit level. What a stunning view so we took ourselves out for a walk across the main road onto the excellent beach.
On our return I decided to have a shower and nearly slipped in the shower tray as there was no non slip mat. The water was hot, a plus, but out of the eleven wash basins in the gents, four of the hot taps were permanently leaking, this is energy loss which the club members are paying for and could be sorted by plumber within three hours or less. The washing up area was as basic as you can get with only two basins with a push type tap which got too hot to push, because of this it took a long time to fill up the basin.
When we were leaving I then used the waste water drain, which was under the window of the booking-in office, this drain was just an external drain for the sink within the office, very hygienic. I then tackled the elsan hut, you have to duck to empty the elsan and because I have a bad back this caused me discomfort and a 'headache' from the banging of my head on the roof of the elsan hut.
For all this they charge £16 a night and no electrics. The area around this campsite was fabulous with all the old castles, scenery and wildlife, well worth visiting

We have just returned from 4 days of camping at Beadnell bay and we had a great time. We were offered various areas of the camp site and different plots in our chosen field. The site staff gave us info on facilities and were very helpful. When we arrived it was blowing gale and because of its exposed location we struggled with our tent (read very large kite), although the up side of the location is the beach is only yards away and had a nice evening on the beach with a bbq. Beadnell is only a short walk although facilities are limited but seahouses has plenty to do if you are happy to walk a bit further. We went to the ship inn down by the harbour and had a nice meal that was reasonably priced. There are places to visit nearby with holy island, bamburgh and berwick within driving range. The Site facilities were good and clean and showers were always hot and available even when the site was full. Would visit again

This site was perfect for us. Well maintained with helpful attentive staff. As we have only been camping twice so far it was good to be given a specific pitch (although there was plenty of choice). The site was full every night with some campers arriving later on in the afternoon and although the office was only open 9-10 and 4-5 I never saw anyone having to wait to book in.
The site was in easy reach of all the local attractions. Beadnell only a few minutes walk along the road with small shop, pub and chipper. Seahouses was around half an hour walk away which was great when you don't want to be driving all the time. And of course the beach being right across the road was a major bonus.
We were warned both by previous reviews and when we arrived that the shower facilities were dated. They were dated but clean and perfectly functional. Although the water temperature was a bit of a hit or a miss but that is really my only complaint and even that wasn't bothering me too much.
All in all a top site.

Our first camping experience. On arrival we were warmly greeted and offered a choice of pitches. We chose a spot in the back field away from the road and offering some shelter from the small stone wall. The wardens were exceptionally friendly and even offered help with our pitching.
The facilities, although somewhat dated as other reviews mention, are adequate with plenty of very hot water and free showers.
We were forewarned that this was a windy location so took along a good selection of pegs but we found it to be nothing to worry about, just a coastal breeze on this occasion.
Crossing the road outside the campsite gets you straight onto the sand dunes and beach, this area is mostly rock pools but some sandy spots – great for kids to explore.
First night we headed to the nearby fish & chip shop in Beadnell, 2 mins walk from the campsite. Not cheap but tasted lovely. Make sure you do them justice and eat out of the paper! Just watch out for the hungry seagulls.
The beach at Embleton Bay, just 10mins car journey south, is fantastic – lovely clean water and sand. We stopped off in Embleton for a bar meal in the Grey’s Inn (nothing special) but there is a superb village playground which the kids loved.
The only minor grumble for the campsite was the queues for the dish washing areas as there are only two sinks for the whole campsite - a few more sinks would be well received. Other than that, a great introduction to the world under canvas.
