The location is great, the village is lovely and the pub seems quite nice (from what I saw, I didn't eat or drink in it). A tent pitch without EHU cost me £6 which seems reasonable. The site is quite large, a big field for tents which was fine. Quite busy when I went but it was reasonably quiet and everyone was friendly. The only downsides were the showers and toilets, I couldn't use the shower because it's only available (for £1) between 9.30am and 8pm (I had gone by 8am). Outside of Pub hours there is only one toilet and a sink, both pretty grim, not very clean and no hot water. I think I will return though, could be better. But not too bad!

Just returned from a weekend at the Cotton Arms pub and despite the constant rain it was a really good break. The site is set next to the canal which is very scenic. The new management were very laid back and made us feel more than welcome. Although posts on here say its basic it has everything that you could need. The breakfasts are very reasonable and cost under a tenner for 4 people. For the 12 pound a night charge its half of what a lot of other sites are charging and although there isnt a lot to do its what you make of it. would definatly go again and will be returning soon (with my fishing rod) Try to find an alternative route rather than through Audlem as its quite tight.

Had an enjoyable weekend here with friends 3 vans in total kids went off and played to there hearts content. (You would have to keep an eye on the younger ones as its by the canal although fenced off with gates.) The owners were very friendly and very hard working and made you feel very welcome. Site fees were £12 per night inc electric. Food in the pub was very nice and priced well(cheap)
The Only thing that lets the site down is the toilet just one and quite run down but this didn't bother us as we used the caravan facilities and the pub in the day time.
The clock chime was quite nice as it chimed and it felt part of the surroundings reminding you were in a tranquil part of the Cheshire countryside. Enjoyed watching the narrow boats go bye and the electric road bridge just a few hundred yards away by the other pub which also served fantastic food although a little pricey there was also a mill shop which sold souvenirs essentials crisps sweets bread groceries etc as well as the mill there was a village shop that sold just about anything u needed just a short walk down the road. All in all had a great weekend and will return in the future.

Visited this site on the New Year UKCS meet. The site and pub now have a new owners and this was there first meet since taking over.
The location of the site in the heart of Cheshire and on the side of the Shropshire Union canal is one of the reasons we keep returning to this site. Add to that the pub food is as good if not better than previously and cheaper. A nice pub located just in front of the site, with a log fire, very nice in winter. Very friendly and hard working owners made the stay even better than anticipated.
Toilet and shower are still basic but improvements are planned along with an exstension to the site which is currently underway. In short top location, reasonable rates and a friendly owner, would recommend a visit.

Just arrived home from the Cotton Arms camp site, we found the site rather noisy but it was bank holiday. Arrived late Fri evening to a frienly welcome. The field was well kept. Grass short.
The facilities on the site were 1 very dirty tiolet, though during pub hours you could use the pub tiolets. There was 1 shower which cost £1 per person. The site is situated right on the canal bank, perfect surroundings, but not for us.

The food at the Cotton Arms is very good and cooked to a high standard. The actual site is quite nice but does need some work to be carried out. Vans are placed very close with just enough parking room for the car. The "one toilet" on site is totally inadequate and is in dire need of modifivation. The shower is a total rip off at a £1 and agiain the modernisation needs to be finished with plasterboard ceiling and exposed electric cables. Fortunately we had good weather and were only there for the weekend.

April 2004 We visited this site during the April Bank Holiday camping in a tent.
Good Points: Rural setting next to canal, very picturesque. Play area ok for children. Pub grub good. Local Shop near to campsite sells everything you need including gas. Locals very friendly.
Bad Points: Unhappy to find that the shower block due for completion in 2003 was not built. There was only one outside toilet with sink which only had cold water, however, pub toilets could be used during pub opening times. No facilities for washing pots. Field for tents was large but unmowed and as it was a wet weekend, you could not go from one side of the field to the other without getting very wet feet! Church very close to campsite which chimed every quarter hr, even during the night.
Other Points: Only gas barbeques are permitted. Site mainly geared up for caravans/motor homes.

July 2003 We chose this campsite for a weekend with friends because of its location;a campsite belonging to a pub, next to the Llangollen canal in Wrenbury. The field itself was prtty good; even and not churned up. BUT: 1. The shower block promised on-line for 2003 is but a twinkle in the landlord's eye; he assured me that he knows where he is going to build them ,but not when (he has had chef problems in the pub, apparently...) 2. The children's play area is pretty broken-down 3. The pub itself wasn't particularly friendly; the food was pricey and cold (granted we ordered just before 9pm, but I don't expect to pay £20 for 2 adult meals and 1 child meal, only to find it's inedible). Needless to say, we won't be returning! However, I would recommend the area, as it's beautiful...we were just unlucky with the site.
