We used to visit this site a long long time ago, back then it was very basic.
We arrived on Friday 26th August with some friends and we thought the site was superb. Yes the pub was very busy and my friend had to wait quite a while to be seen so she could book in. They were very helpful indeed and the pitches were great.
The kids had ample space to play, the surrounding areas were fantastic for walking etc. We ate in the pub on Saturday night and the meal was fantastic and very reasonably priced, you do need to book.
The Toilets and Showers were very clean and there was plenty of Hot Water. The kids played Bowls and also there was a games room in which they played darts and pool.
We had a great weekend and can't wait to go back again. The staff in the pub were very pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
We are planning our next visit and cannot wait to go back.
Thank you for a great weekend.

This is a great little site in a beautiful setting with lots to do around and about.
We had visited the site before and enjoyed it. We decided to return, despite some of the recent reviews, but there was no need to worry. The owners (Joe and Julie) and their staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.
The pub itself has been much improved since our first visit and the toilet and washing facilities for the campsite have recently undergone a major refurbishment, providing more facilities and to a very good standard. There are now 2 outside ladies' and 1 gents' toilet.
There are 2 showers plus a family shower room, which is quite spacious and I think that also had a ladies' toilet in it. The showers are token operated (£1 from the pub) and I found that it gave you plenty of time - no need to worry about not being able to rinse off properly.
The food was excellent, very reasonably priced and very generous portions. In addition to an evening meal, we also took advantage of the Saturday lunchtime menu, which was a starter and main course for just £5. Again, excellent value for money and the opportunity to try something a little bit different.
If you're visiting during the week I understand they also do this offer on Wednesdays. We did book a table as we could see the place was busy (I can't understand previous reviewers making an issue of this, you would expect to book a table most places that you go to).
We had our 13 year old nephew with us and he was never lost for something to do. There's plenty of space for kids outside along with a large climbing frame and a few other toys. There are plenty of games, toys and books inside the pub as well. There's also a well-kept bowling green
The village is a pleasant 5 minute walk, either along the road or the canalside, and has a well stocked village shop. You can also get into Nantwich or Whitchurch by bus or train. The bus stops outside the pub, the train station is about 20 minutes walk. There are also many walks that you can do around the area.
We will definitely be going back again.

Just returned from a 4 day break visiting relatives in the area and decided to camp this time.
The Cotton Arms is a perfect site for those who like to camp as it should be, no noisy club house, no fast food shop, no over inflated prices to cover the costs of unwanted extras - just a simple basic camp site.
The site is well maintained, clean, tidy and very friendly - run by a fantastic couple who were always willing to help and despite it being very busy during our stay couldn't have been any more helpful.
Yes the showers and toilets are a short walk away from the camping area and compared to some campsites not as luxurious but its camping not a b&b or hotel. The toilet and shower block was always spotless what ever time of day you used them.
The pub is a typical old english pub, serving great food and fantastic beer and very child friendly.
We would recommend this site to anyone and we will definitely be going back again.

Visited The cotton arms for a weekends camping nice location within lovely Cheshire countryside. The pub had a good selection of beers including 3 real ales, we ate in pub Saturday night the meals were very good and decent value considering the quality.
After reading some reviews about the facilities -or lack of them! I would like to inform fellow members this now seems to have been addressed.
Independent of the pub the are now 2 ladies and 1 gents toilets and now 2 showers (payable £1)
And a family bathroom containing toilet shower and washbasin, which when added to the pub toilets which are open all day seems ample for a site this size
There is a decent size beer garden with a children's play area, seemed quite popular with the kids
The village of Wrenbury is very nice, only 5 mins walk away with a nice church and well stocked village store
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return

My son and I camped here for 1 night over the bank holiday as we were kayaking up and down the canal.
The site is a good base for the area and has lot's of positive features.
The new toilets and showers are good, with hot water and enough room to get changed. The pitches are as you want them. I. E pitch where you like!
On the downside, the noise rule is completely ignored and not managed. There were people singing and shouting until early hours of the morning and not everyone cleared up after their dog!
The pub itself is good with nice food (if not a little pricey) but make sure you book as it gets very busy.
We'll be back with the caravan and some friends soon as there's nothing that would put me off returning.

Have visited The Cotton Arms a couple of times and all in all this is a great little site, however it is somewhat let down by the lack of facilities.
Positives:- Scenic, quiet site (except church bell which does occasionally ring at random hours ie. 4 am!) Lovely area for walking, canal runs along side, short walk into Wrenbury Village and well stocked village post office. Pub food is excellent quality, portions are large and food is reasonably priced.
Staff are kept busy and are on the whole really friendly and helpful but due to the popularity of the pub it tends to get really busy and they can get a little stressed (see below!). Pub has small climbing frame/park which children can use and outdoor eating area.
Negatives:- Poor facilities. I know they are just in process of updating these, but as I understand it they had finished the gents toilet - just one solitary gents toilet! Didn't have any hotwater at washing up basins and Sat morn didn't appear to have any hot water in the pub toilets to have a quick face wash. So if you are staying in a tent you are going to struggle a little to wash yourself or your dishes.
If you would like to eat in the pub you should pre-book every meal or be prepared to be moaned at! Due to its popularity it is extremely busy and staff do tend to complain if you turn up to eat without pre-booking, but then they will endeavour to fit you in as soon as they can.
As we visited with vouchers we didn't pay full fee, but I can understand if you were to pay full fee (which I believe to be around £14 a night) then you could be a little disappointed, but if you are happy to 'rough it' and enjoy beautiful surroundings and excellent food then would recommend that you give it a try.

Just returned from our 2nd visit to the Cotton Arms.
The 'site' is very basic.
Apart from the chiming church clock, the site is very quiet.
Showers were closed due to refurbishment. Ladies outside toilet also closed - but you can use the Ladies room inside of the pub.
The site is clean and well kept, the owners are very friendly and are always ready to help.
The pub serves breakfast, lunch and evening meals! What more can you ask for.
Although the site is very basic we will most likely return to it again.

Just back from another trip at this camp site. This is a great family campsite run by lovely people. Yes the showers need updating but this is currently being done. This site provides everything that you need and is dog friendly which is great for our boxer. This is a little gem of a site and we go every year. Ignore these people who say its not great, there must be something wrong with them!

I am used to hardship in a tent and have bought an oldish caravan, my youngest (4 years old) wanted to try camping with Dad, so we headed out to The Cotton Arms.
It is a fabulous site set in the wonderful surroundings of South Cheshire, there is plenty to see and do in the locality, Nantwich, a busy market town, Chester about 20 miles drive with its historic walls, Romans shopping and Zoo. Beeston Castle sits on a rocky outcrop commanding views over the Cheshire plain, Ellesmere port and on into Wales. Jodrell Bank is also worth a visit and don,t forget for the train buffs amongst us Crewe the home of the railways.
The canal runs next to the site ideal for walks.
Dad and son had a great time with little one fascinated by the swing bridge close by that lifts to allow boats to pass underneath.
The village shop is a short walk away and stocks a wide range of things, especially those 'things' you always forget to pack.
The site is well groomed with well cut grass, well drained,(it did rain quite a bit) good access and upon arrival a very friendly welcome.
Food and drink in the pub are reasonably priced, with a good range of meals available, the portions can only be described as generous, and the staff were very helpful with meals for little one.
Plenty of variation in the range of drinks on offer with a couple of real ales on, including Bombadier a particular favourite of mine.
Overall cracking site, ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle of life and relaxing in the country.
One criticism though, the loo and shower were a little walk away, but were clean and serviceable.
We will be going again, and this time the whole family, so at least dad can have a couple more Bombadiers!

Not Impressed. On arrival the pub was so busy I caught the attention of a woman she advised this was not the best time to arrive look how busy they were. She moaned for 5 mins then told me off for letting my husband wait at the gate with the van, then said you can pitch on the grass here where the boys are playing football or there on the hardstanding. Both were as cramped as each other, your packed in like Sardines IMO - No view of the canal. Toilet was appalling and didn't bother paying £1 to see the shower that's in an outbuilding at the back of the pub smoking area, elsan point worse on we seen.
The site was recc by two people to us but I think it must have changed.
