We used this site as a stop over on our way home from North Wales. At first we were not sure about this site. We went in to the pub to book in. This was very informal, pitch on the left hand side and pay when you come back this evening.
The site is 100yds up a track past the bowling club. Quite a few caravans looked as if they had been there a long time and a bit of TLC would have helped.
We found a pitch backing on to the canal, mostly grass.
The facilities are in the pub yard, my wife checked them out and said they were ok but not brilliant. Sadly you had to walk past the overflowing bins for the pub.
We ate in the pub as planned. Our meals were very nice, be warned the portions are huge. Later in the evening the pub filled up and the meals were taking a long time to serve and they were running out of choices.
The walk back to the van in heavy rain along an unlit track was a bit of chore.
Yes we would go back but only as a stop over not a long stay site.

We booked here after reading the good views. Good points 2 good pubs which do food in the village and the ale in both are good, dogs allowed in as well. The Cotton Arms was good as described.
However we booked a hard standing, they are grown over and more grass, there was a poor water supply and it took a long time to fill up, luckily our tanks were half full, so in the end we ended up going to the tap by the pub for water.
Toilets and showers clean but felt charging a bit excessive also the pitch price was £18 a night which was a lot for what you got, no dedicated grey water drainage, had to go down the elson. There was a rally in the field, they were quiet and other long term caravans there.
What spoilt it was the Saturday night about 20 campervans turned up and they were doubling up on 3 spaces and in between, parked within 3 foot which in not good with fire and safety plus they had an open fire, did not seem to care about anyone but themselves.
So disappointed they were allowed on the site in this way. Wrenbury is a nice village on the canal and walks etc.

Great site and location. Plenty of room on the field for camper van and awning in the pitch joe gave us. Atmosphere on site great.
No noise after 2300 which is camp rules. Showers great value was told you get about 8 mins but was more like 10-12mins, good power and hot. All facilities very clean.
Cotton arm pub good prices for beer and food. Would give 10/10 for value and portion size. All in all a great site. Will be visiting again

Return visit to the cotton arms for us went for 3 nights 10/7/15 & ended up stopping for 10 as the weather was kind to us. The large rally field is level & well drained, water pressure on the field is very low but found the alternative tap behind pub by the showers so all was well.
Had some meals in the pub & they were very good (the sunday lunch especially so but book it up as the naturally get very busy)
The staff in the pub are fantastic & very hard working.
Nice children's play area in the beer garden.
Very dog friendly & nice walks in the area.
I shall be back for a surprise visit on 31 july for a few nights to celebrate our anniversary (shhh don't tell the OH)

Stayed here for 2 nights, the campsite was very busy with both tents and campervan/caravans.
The field was well drained and pretty much level.
The toilets and showers were in old converted outbuildings and although they were basic they were clean.
The attached pub was superb, offering a selection of 5 real ales and a great simple traditional menu at reasonable prices, I recommend you book a table as it gets very busy.
The village has 2 pubs and 1 small shop, with plenty of nice walks nearby as the site backs on the the canal.
Playground area in the pub garden.
In short a great family friendly site that we will be returning to.

Emailed here for a last minute get away, very quick reply and very helpful.
Joe was very welcoming on arrival. Choice of spots available.
There are some seasonal vans, touring area and a rally field.
All were very nice and considerate ie quiet.
Two water spots, one low pressure in the middle of site (joe did inform) and one near the pub at full mains pressure.
Elsan near the pub (kept very clean)
Grey disposal I'm unsure about, we emptied this in the elsan but there was a large grid in the site road that indicated waste water (great idea for motor homes). The reason for a level of confusion, we were informed by a fellow camper that the grid isnt for grey????
We asked for a table for food when we arrived. We were a lot late after setting up. Still the table was retained. The food was very good and was reduced in price as we were staying there.
We were invited to join the quiz night and play your cards right.
On the saturday they had a bonfire and fireworks night for charity.
It was well run and they made all very welcome.
A side note regarding the staff. They must of been hard to find as they were out of this world.
Beer was good.
No rush to get rid of us on the sunday.
Didnt use showers as we had on board.
Toilets were basic.
Only probs electric kept going off (4 times in two nights). This I know was affecting myself and others. It did come back on after approx 20mins each time. Hopefully a temp problem.
It was 18GBP per night with EHU (hard standing) all of good size for van, awning and car. I thought a tad high as I have stayed a fully serviced sites for a lot less in areas as nice. I'm obviously wrong as loads were there :)
But the golden question, would I stay again. Of coarse, but, we only live 1 hour away and at 18 per night we changed our minds regrading having this as our regular site and will be a treat and it would be a great treat.
The pub was dog and child friendly
Had a childs play area
There was a shop a couple of minutes down the road.
Well done to the owners
Cant wait to get another trip to go again, prob with family.

So glad we found this site, friendly owners, great food and great location (right next to the canal. Great for walking the dogs) what was even better was the pub itself is completely dog friendly, so we were able to enjoy a meal 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed. Will definitely be going back, small shop for papers etc just up the road.
We didn't use showers etc as we had our own in the van so can't really comment on them, but well worth a visit.

Both my partner and I meant to do this earlier but due to work have only just got to it. We visited this site in Sept 14 after a really bad drive up the motorway from Cornwall and found it on the web last minute.
We hadn't booked and just turned up in a VW T5 with a dog and despite the owner having 2 caravan club events and was full he went over and above to help us stay on site. It is a beautiful site although a basic site we loved the heated shower cubicles which looked like they had been out stores, the showers was amazingly hot and lasted quite some time and was all that was needed for us.
The site is along a canal with amazing canal boats tying up and finally the fish, chips mushy peas and home made onion rings we had in the pub was amazing and despite other reviews we had read didn't take long to arrive.
We had a fantastic meal and real ale and went back to our T5 with caravans having amazing fairy lights outside, campers having quiet nights with bbqs glowing and with full bellys we were very very happy. We are going back this year and would recommend this site to anyone who doesn't like the larger commercial campsites like Butlins etc.
The owner of this place really did his best to make us welcome, helped us with anything we needed, the waiting staff in the pub was amazingly friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and our large dog was very welcome on the site.
We hope this place never changes and we will always re-visit at every opportunity while it remains like this despite us living in Scotland.

We have been to the Cotton Arms this weekend for our 3rd visit in the last 3 months and will be returning again before the end of September.
Such a relaxed atmosphere and a totally chill out place, the facilities are basic but entirely adequate and clean and very reasonably priced.
The staff in the pub are very welcoming and Friday nights quiz is good entertainment.
