We stayed here for the weekend for my partners birthday and had a nice time. When me arrived the staff in the pub were very helpful and shown us where everything was and took us to our pitch (as it was really dark he was very helpful).
The site is lovely, tidy and quiet with the canal at the side separated by bushes. Toilet block and showers where clean the only thing was the toilet cubicles where very small.
We didn't take the kids but there is a play area and field for them.
Dogs are welcome in the pub which is nice to see.
We had meals at the pub by a log fire ( that won me over) food was gorgeous. The meal deal on Saturday was great then we treated ourselves to dessert WELL what could I say if we'd had room we'd of had seconds.
We will be going back again next year.

Needing a handy place at which to gather all our family (there were 20 of us in total!). We searched the UKCampsite.co.uk webpages and came across the Cotton Arms campsite. What a find. Perfect for our needs! Delightful welcome and easy going attitude to collecting payment (NO pressure! 'Settle yourselves in and we'll talk later') Allowances were made for us wanting to camp alongside each other. The facilities were just fine. Simple, accessible, clean and cheap. Loved the church bells. Though we never actually quite made it to the church so we'll have to visit the Cotton Arms again one day. The location is great. We took a fabulous walk along the canal bank with all the family. We had a terrific time. Years since we've all been together. So thanks so much to Joe Kelly. We hope to come again (if you'll have us all!)

We visited for a family camping weekend with myself and 3 children with one house tent, was slightly surprised and pleased to only be charged £10 per night for the tent which I thought was exceptional value.
The site itself was busy, with a number of tourers and other tents on the site but there were decent facilities, a few toilets and showers in an out house and then obviously the use of the pub when it was open.
Had a meal in there and the portions that came out where really big, don't think any of the kids managed to finish theirs.
They also had a folk band playing and a few people joining in with the songs, created a really nice and friendly atmosphere.
Staff were helpful and friendly and the kids really enjoyed themselves.
Am sure I will be visiting again in the future.

Hi all, my wife, son and I stayed Thursday and Friday until Saturday and would have loved to have stayed longer.
Owners and staff very welcoming and the site itself was great and fantastic value for money. We stayed on 1st and 2nd August and were initially a little undecided due to the weather, but it was great. Our jake loved having a little freedom in the site that was safe. We were also able to have a couple of pints of lovely Aspall and somersby cider whilst watching Jake on the climbing frame with other kinds.
We had something to eat and found the food to be of great quality but missed out on Saturdays bargain 2 course offer. This offer is also on Wednesdays so will plan a little better next time.
As this was our first time here, we will take tips from other campers, such an electric ice box, rapid air pump and a decent camping barbecue and fire pit. We met a great bunch of girls on Thursday who were a good laugh and keen footballers.
Is a fab spot, right next to the canal ad we chatted to a few people on their travels.
We hope to be back very soon and want to thank the site, staff and Cottom arms.
Abio, Elanie and Jake

The site is in a lovely location, with the South Cheshire Way and National Cycle Route 45 close by. It's bordered by the Llangollen canal at the rear (the site has it's own access) and a quiet road at the front, and the site is flat.
There's an upmarket Robinson's foody pub - the Dusty Miller - opposite, and the Cotton Arms itself is a nice friendly pub serving good food and drinks including four real ales and local cider. Breakfasts are available from 9 am either eating in or takeaway sandwiches. The pub also has a play area for the kids and outdoor seating.
The big problems with the site are the inadequate facilities. There's only two ladies, one unisex shower/toilet and one gents toilet (no urinals) available overnight, together with two other showers. When the site is full (as it was on my visit) there are queues to use the toilets and showers. There are no washbasins, just hand-washing basins in the toilets, and the only mirror (for shaving) is in the pub's gents toilet - far from ideal. There's only one washing-up sink, which is in the open air.
I was in a mixed group of men/women, singles/couples and all ages, and we all agreed that the facilities let this otherwise good site down badly.
Overall, I would go back, but not in high season when there are just too many people for the meagre facilities.

Arrived Tuesday after the bank holiday, camp was quiet and tranquil. Lovely area, little village, short walk to shop, pub on the site and another facing. A few meters away from Llangollen canel, lovely walk an done a spot of fishing. Staff really helpful, food was fantastic a lot better than expected! Would definitely recommend for a short break, wouldn't stay for more than 2 nights as there is limited things to do, great for a relaxing get away. Dog friendly, even allowed dogs in the pub which was a first! Small games room with darts, snooker table and a few board games. Special offer on food of a Wednesday and Saturday and a quiz of a Friday.

Visited the cotton arms with the south lancs center of the caravan club for our Easter rally. The camping/rally field was level with easy access. The 3 showers were clean and token operated with adjustable heat, you also have use of the pub toilets during opening hours. The food in the pub was reasonably priced and of very good quality. The local shop a short walk away was well stocked with everything you could want, they even sell gas. There is a bowling green and children's play frame in the pub garden, and the llangolen canal passes along the side of the site.

We have just come back from a 4 night stay here in a tent. There was my husband and I with our 2 children. It is a lovely site right next to the canal. The pub is great, has evening entertainment at weekends - we saw one guy with his guitar who was very good, the kids enjoyed singing along, the next night we saw a fantastic band who let our kids join in and play the instruments with them, absolutely brilliant, they got a good cheer when they finished!
Like other reviews have said the pub is maybe a bit rough round the edges but I think it adds to the atmosphere/character of the place - it's a proper local pub too where they know people by their first name.
There were quite a lot of tents turn up over the weekend when we were there but we didn't have any problem queueing for the shower, although there were only 3 so I can see why some people do. Maybe we were lucky with the timing.
The showers are coin operated where you need to get a token from the bar (so if you plan on an early morning shower get one the night before). As others have said the box to put the token in is on the outside to which the showers start straight away, but wrap a towel round yourself or do as I did and wear a strappy summer dress with nothing else so you can quickly strip it off when you get back in. I actually went in the bigger disabled shower as I had my daughter with me and if you put the shower into 'off' position the shower doesn't start until you switch it on although not sure if it eats into your 8 minutes of time! As with the timing, I found this to be more than sufficient to do my daughters and my hair, I was actually waiting for it to finish. But, my husband then took our son into the same shower and said his didn't last long so not sure what happened there.
The only criticism I would have with the campsite, which is beyond their control, is the church bells! If you're not used to church bells then it could be a problem through the night. The bells ring right through the night (quite loud if the wind direction is your way) every 15 minutes, then dong every hour. The first night we didn't get much sleep so we went and bought some earplugs and they worked a treat! So overall, a lovely campsite, but take some earplugs if church bells will cause a problem.

A really great little site and very good value for money at only £10 a night (2 adults, 2 kids, a dog in a little pop-up tent). We only stayed 1 night and it's pretty basic, ie a field next to the pub, but location is lovely right alongside the canal. Turn left along canal to bridge, chandlery shop and icecream/souvenir shop, turn right along canal and pass through the church yard to the village shop for newspapers, basic provisions etc.
Site and pub are 'laid back' and very, very dog friendly. Dogs allowed in pub even amongst diners! Good traditional pub grub, not overpriced, don't go expecting any gastropub cuisine or anything though. It is a traditional, old fashioned pub, a little rough round the edges, but perfect in our eyes. They seem to do 'entertainment' occasionally too. We had live music (guitar/singer) the night we stayed which was actually very pleasant whilst having a beer or three. If you prefer a bit more upmarket, there is a gastropub/bar/restaurant right across the road, called the Dusty Miller I think.
There is a pavilion and a bowling green at the pub, too, plus a wooden 'fort' style climbing frame/kids play area with a hen or two roaming around. Although the site is on the main road through Wrenbury, it is more like a quiet, country lane.
Kids are very safe, can't access road directly from site or beer garden of pub, which is a plus. Could make a little more of hte kids play area though.
Seemed to be a mixture of touring caravans and tents, some caravans are long term pitches. No electric hookup, and very basic toilet and shower facilities. Basically have been crammed into what would have been original outhouses of the pub by the looks of them. However, don't let this put you off.
We would definitely go back again, maybe for 2 nights next time. Don't think I'd use the site for anything more than a 3 night break max, though, as queueing for one of only 3 unisex showers (on a 50+ pitch site?) or for the single washing up sink would become a bit much for me, I think.

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Cotton Arms and there isnt much if anything to complain about.
At £10 a night per tent no matter how many people and if you have a dog, a gazebo, a porch, or 2 cars is great value.
Based on the Llangollen canal we took many a work along the canal which was lovely and you can walk that way to and from the shop.
We were a party of 5 tents 15 people ranging from 4 yrs to 65yrs. The kids enjoyed the open area, even though a little busy on the saturday there was still enough room to play ball games. (there was a rally of motorhomes that had booked in last minute)
The staff in the pub are very helpful particularly a young lad called William, nothing is too much trouble for you and his parents own the post office/mini shop down the road.
During out of pub hours there is only 2 toilet for the woman and 1 toilet for the men, (would recommend putting a mirror in the outside toilets) when the open there are further toilets inside.
There is a small climbing framed area in the beer garden for the children but must be supervised.
The pavilion is open for people to use and a bbq can be put on if requested. Great if there is a large party.
There is a bowling green that a few of the party took advantage including the 12, 13 and 16 yr olds.
The food in the pub is lovely home made meals and very reasonably priced they also do breakfast which is plentiful.
We didn't use the showers and there was a sign saying a token from the bar is needed, may be worth while someone going with you for them to put the token in when you are ready inside.
We will definitely be going back.
It suited our whole party down to the ground.
Lovely location.
