Pros : 1) Lovely green site which was very easy on the eye. 2) "Top" toilet block was very clean, no problems with hot water - I didn't actually use the "bottom" block but my wife said this was a bit dirty in comparison. 3) Plenty for the kids to do , table tennis , pool table , play area and free crazy golf 4) Nice swimming pool area with 3 pools 5) Reasonable evening entertainment for kids - magician , discos etc. 6) Owners are pleasant and willing to assist. Cons : 1) We had quite a bit of rain in our first week but not what i'd call torrential amounts ie. Frequent light showers. Obviously the site owners can't be blamed for this. However, there isn't enough tarmac on the site and as a consequence access ways via car were churned up considerably creating what can only be described as massive mud baths. The site was in a terrible state and when we left after 4 days of good weather it had only just cleared. 2) Drainage is seemingly a problem - several pitches were completely flooded and some on the lower slopes had been taped off when we left because they were still very muddied. 3) St Austell town - not much to see , one vist was enough for us. 4) Beach - advertised as a 5 min walk , i'd say closer to 15 with 82 steps down to the beach when you get there. The beach is sandy but is ruined by the development which has apparently been going on for 4 or so years now and doesn't look like being completed in the forseeable future. It's basically a beach with no facilities next to a building site and we didn't use it once during our 2 week stay. 5) Pool area - no lifeguard . Entry is restricted to small children by a metal gate with 2 catches so that kids can't open the top one. This should have some sort of automatic closer fitted to prevent inquisitive youngsters getting in on their own - on a couple of occassions I noticed kids leaving the gate open and this was a big worry for me as a father of small children. 6) Shop staff - i'm amazed that such friendly owners can employ such miserable staff. I don't remember either of them smiling once during the 2 weeks and even my 5 yr old son said to me " Dad, that woman in that shop is really grumpy "

A fantastic site. Our first visit and we loved it. The friendliest staff we have ever come across as we arrived. Shown to our well marked, spacious pitch, which was level. The kids immediately went to explore the play park as we pitched. Pools fantastic, shop ok, table tennis, table football, tv room, laundry, crazy golf, play park, all well maintained and any problems were dealt with promptly. Access to beach was a short walk. We stayed on site for 3 days before having to get in the car the kids being well entertained by everything available. Made for a very relaxing holiday for a change. Showers and toilets were great, but I did have to queue some mornings and evenings as the site was at full capacity at all times. Very child friendly site and would recommend this site to anyone.

Another wet week for us in 2007 but a warm welcome here, lots of help and a really big pitch. In wet weather it resembles Glastonbury but we were lucky to be near the tarmac so not too much squelching about in mud to get anywhere. Very nice loos etc, the occassional bit of evening entetainment which occupied the kids although the cafe food wasnt great IMO. Lots to do locally, we went Go Karting, Bens Playworld and a few days out Mevagissy, Padstow etc.
The pool was nice as were the play areas.
On the downside they really do need to sort out the mud on wet days by laying more tarmac also many pitches have quite a slope so bear this in mind when booking.
The local beach is still under construction but was an easy walk. There are some lovely quiet coves nearby if you dont mind a bit of seaweed. I would go back but not until theyve done something about the beach.

Stayed here for 10 days, first long holiday in our conway camper. Fantastic site with large landscaped pitches. New swimming pool is great and the childrens entertanment was really good. The small shop on site stock most things, the toilet blocks are clean along with the rest of the site would recommend it to anyone, we had a fantastic relaxing holiday .

Best site we have been to, it was small enough to feel safe allowing the kids to ride around on bikes, but large enough to have a good shop and facilities. We particuly liked there being no bar, although we were there on the only good week of weather so far this year. The bay itself is nothing special, however its only a few minutes walk across the golf course. A really good base for visiting all of Cornwall, we would definitely return.

This is a really nice site, even with constant rain we all still enjoyed it there. The toilets and showers were lovely, modern and clean and the play areas were very nice. We had the swimming pools to ourselves since it was raining and the kids loved that. They could improve on the cafe/takeaway bit as that wasn't very nice but that would be the only complaint. Would recommend the site and will go back there soon.

Very nice site indeed. Staff extremely friendly and very helpful. Toilet and shower blocks were immaculate and the pitches themselves were huge. We had plenty of space for a 4-berth tourer, awning, car, table and chairs, dog and some outdoor games - and still enough room to wander about! Small pool complex was lovely and a real suntrap to sit out in. Bearing in mind that we were there during probably one of the worst summers in years, that's saying something! Little shop was well stocked and didn't charge extortionate prices like some places we've been to - yes it was a little bit more expensive than, say, Asda but not by an awful lot. Sold lovely morning rolls too! Only thing I would complain about was that the restaurant/takeaway seemed to be a bit erratic with its opening hours and even the owners didn't seem to know exactly when it would be open - the chap running it seemed to please himself! If you have a dog, there are 2 huge dog-walking areas, one of which seems extremely secure and even managed to contain our insane escape artist dog! Would definitely recommend this site.

This is a great site with lots of facilities all maintained to a high standard. The pitches are spacious and our fully serviced pitch was enormous. The newly extended pool area is lovely with 3 pools (one paddling) and sun loungers around it. There is a covered area with pool table, noughts and crosses, table football etc, this area also houses the take-away which has quite an extensive menu. The small shop is well stocked with fresh bread, daily papers and essentials. There is a laundary room and a TV room which could be handy on a wet night for those in tents. There is crazy golf which never closes you just pick up your clubs and balls and play free of charge any time. There is also a good play area. Loos and showers were very clean, with plenty of free showers and hot water. You can walk to the beach, however the whole area on and around the beach is subject to extensive development which is not very attractive at the moment. You can also walk to a pub with a large outdoor play area (10-15 mins walk) that does food, nothing spectacular but fine. Bens Playworld is nearby which is a massive indoor play area, awful for adults but our children loved it and it is a good rainy day option. This really is a nice site we were sorry we had arranged to move to a different site for our second week, we could have happily spent 2 weeks at Carlyon Bay. Highly recommend this site.

Friendly welcome. Lovely level pitch. Lovely play areas for children. Swimming pools were a bonus, there were 3! 1 big one 1 kidney shaped one and 1 paddling pool. The shower blocks were spotless, Nice hot water with good power from the shower. The toilets were also very clean, cleaned regularly with a good supply of toilet roll! I never had to queue for the toilets/showers - plenty on this site. The small shop was very well stocked, lovely fresh bread everyday and the nicest croissants I've ever tasted! It had such a great variety of products at reasonable prices. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. This is the best site I have ever stayed at and I look forward to my next visit there, I totally recommend this site.

This is a great site! We've just returned after a week there and I can't speak highly enough of it. In spite of the very indifferent weather the pitches and the park were in excellent condition, the toilet and shower blocks were beautifully tiled and spotless and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We were greeted warmly on arrival, and shown personally to our pitch (which was huge!) anytime I went to reception with an enquiry like asking about a good local place to eat or bus routes and times I came away with exactly the help I needed. We did manage a swim or two in the new pool in spite of the weather and it's wonderful. This park has everything for a family that wants excellent facilities in a beautiful setting, without a clubhouse or bar on site (quiet nights, bliss!) but with everything within easy reach. This park was such a refreshing change from other camping parks we've been to - We will definitely go back.
