Lucksall is a lovely, immaculately maintained site which is close to Hereford city centre (approx 5-miles) and there is a very handy bus service which runs from just outside the site on an hourly basis.
There is the option for canoe hire which we did not partake in so cannot really comment, although the prices did seem quite expensive.
There is a very handy cafe on site too of which the prices seemed very reasonable but again we did not use therefore cannot comment on the quality of the food.
A couple of gripes with the site - we were in a tent and we were put in the 'buzzard' field which was fine but too far from the toilet blocks - I did raise a concern about this when we checked in but was basically told that they were fully booked so tough! I do not mind walking to the facilities but during the night it was a bit much. It seemed wrong that the tourers were all situated near the toilet blocks yet probably all had their own toilets.
Having said this, the toilet, shower blocks and washing up facilities were all spotless and a pleasure to use.
We did not get to the local pubs as the surrounding roads are all unlit with no pavements, very winding with fast vehicles (including the buss=es!) so did not think it safe to do so.
In all a very nice site which we would use again if we were in the area, but would book well in advance and request to be nearer the facilities.

WHAT A SITE.
Our first stay in our new tent, and it couldn't of gone better. Shower and toilet block were always spotless. Grounds were always clean and tidy, great shop, cafe, and surroundings. The river on one side and the woodland on the other was lovely. There was a local pub not far down the road which I would highly recommend. All major shops where in the town, which wasn't that far away. One of the best stays I've had. Will be going back for 2013.

This is our 3rd visit to this site and once again it excelled in customer service, cleanliness and also the overall appearance of the site is impeccable.
We have a large unit therefore the generous size pitches suit our needs, the new toilet and shower block were spotless although a little busy at times!
Park facility suitable for younger children although there is a large field for older children
The on site cafe is relatively new and offers a reasonable range of food which is not expensive.
Lovely walks around the area and some places to visit nearby (Ledbury - very nice)
Not sure about public transport
We will definitely be visiting again

Just returned from four enjoyable days at this site. We feel that Lucksall offers good value for money with many positive aspects.
Welcome was very friendly and pitch was clearly marked and spacious. Toilet blocks were clean although it was quite a trek from Buzzard pitch to the nearest facilities. Elsan point was also a very long walk from our pitch and was quite an expedition - using the car was actually preferable. Overall atmosphere was very friendly, unlike some sites we have visited and the river fishing is definitely a bonus for those interested.
The Moon at Mordiford is very welcoming and offers excellent ale and average food at reasonable prices. The taxi service back was much appreciated!
Crown Inn at Woolhope is more up-market and we enjoyed their Monday night curry and the wonderful desserts afterwards.
Many walks close to site, but wouldn't think area that suitable for cycling as roads quite busy and windy. We will definitely be back.

We couldn't fault the campsite - excellent facilities and very clean and well maintained. Without exception the staff were friendly and helpful.
Visitors should note that the local bus operator doesn't allow dogs to travel (even small well behaved ones) and there was no service on a Sunday when we visited. I may be mistaken but this information is not mentioned on their website and we probably would have chosen another site had we known in advance.
However, the walk to Hereford is pleasant, much of it along the Wye Valley walk, but it's quite a long way so allow a couple of hours!
Despite the limitations of the bus service this is certainly one of the best sites we have visited and I would highly recommend it.

We arrived without having booked and asked for a minimum of 3 nights. 3 pitches were offered and we checked them out. One alongside the river looked a bit rough, so we opted for another. It was totally hard standing and the surface was quite hard for the old dog to walk on. Across the road was a large grass area, but it would have been nice to have a grassy area alongside the pitch. Still, we hadn't booked! The 3rd one offered was similar.
We were close to the 2nd toilet block and they were always clean with hot water and good lighting. We were also handy for the excellent dog walk. The site was very pretty and well maintained with a bus stop at the entrance. NB the buses do not take dogs. There was a good shop and also cafe with plenty of seating in and out. The staff were helpful and friendly. The site was easy to find and in a lovely location.

Easy to find, great location between wooded hills and the River Wye. Very friendly welcoming staff - everyone spoke - no rush to deal with administrative issues - main concern was to guide us to our riverside pitch which was very large.
Grass well kept and whole site filled with brimming tubs of flowers. We arrived on a Friday - all was peaceful and relaxed although the site was full.
Facilities very clean and plenty of showers which were hot. Great walks leading to the Moon Public House - the proprietor runs a minibus service back to the campsite - very welcomed as it was raining and the road badly lit.
Canoeing is based at the site, although it is a separate business very convenient to paddle down stream and get a lift back.

Positive: Beautiful site, grass pitches immaculate, friendly staff, gorgeous flowers everywhere. Toilet blocks amazingly clean. Good reasonably priced cafe on site, shop stocked well for essentials. River access for canoes/kayaks is perfect & great fun. Good dog walking area on site too.
Negative: Caravans are mixed with tents in same field which (noise wise) generally don't gel. If staying in a caravan, I would recommend asking for a pitch at the entrance end where majority of caravans are, as that seemed much more peaceful there.
Minor gripe would be that if you stay in the last 3 fields the toilet blocks are a fair distance. The new toilet block is very busy but if you walk a few yards further to the older middle block that one is usually empty.
Summary: Fabulous site, stunning location, kept immaculate, grass cut obsessively so is virtually manicured. Very friendly & reasonably priced, would definitely stay again (perhaps not on end fields though if in caravan at peak times. )

Arrived on a Sunday and staff were helpful from the start. Our pitch had already been allocated to us so no need to cruise around to find a pitch which we find a bonus.
This is one of the best sites we have been to, the pitches our roomy and the grass is to die for if only I could get mine to their stantard.
The shop is well stocked and the cafe does a mean bacon sandwich + other delights.
We took great delight in feeding the ducks with our stale bread.
All the Shower blocks were immaculate can we please put piped music in all for next season.
We are going to book up for next year.

Just got back from a long weekend and we are completely happy with every aspect of this site and all the staff. The pitches are spacious and the location is stunning.
The washing and shower blocks are immaculate with plenty of free hot water. The camp shop and cafe are reasonably priced with a complementary pot of Tea on arrival gratefully received.
Right next to the River Wye its perfect for fishermen and canoeists alike. This is a site that other site owners should visit.
The Moon Pub just a 10 minute walk away now offers a lift back to the site for a small donation.
