Just returned from a ten night stay here, this is our 3rd stay at this site and all I can say is. Faultless. This year my brother and his wife accompanied us with their own van, it is their 1st time at this site and they really enjoyed it too. The site has expanded since our last visit and I was worried that the friendly atmosphere may have disappeared but I was wrong. The staff are still lovely, the site is immaculate and the atmosphere is still as tranquil. The site is great for all ages with a lovely play area for kids, very generous pitches and a bar for us over 18s. Thanks to all the staff and see you next year.

First visit to this campsite and we stayed from Thursday to Tuesday. On arrival we were given directions to our pitch, adjacent to others in our party staying in their caravan. The pitches are large, level and immaculately kept. We were in the last but two row at the end of the site and the rest of the row was fairly empty. This did however change at the weekend when the site became very busy with many large groups of people. Most units seem to have 2 vehicles, mainly vans or 4x4's. It did mean that the row we were in resembled a bit of a car park. Come Monday though it went back to normal.
A lot of effort seemed to go into keeping the washrooms clean but they could do with an additional one at the end we were staying, not only because of the distance from the pitches (even more of a walk to the second one when closed for cleaning with a 'desparate' 4 year old) but also to cope with the weekend influx when the blocks became much busier and not as pristine.
We sampled some of the local ciders at the welcoming cafe and enjoyed a breakfast there on the last day. The shop was good for its size.
The family enjoyed the woodland walk into the village but alas no rewarding drink at the end (pub only opens lunch and dinner time).
In summary, nice site at the upper end of nightly charges which would benefit with additional washroom capacity for busy times. The choicest pitches are those along the river bank who get the benefit of the best views and setting sun.

The is the first review I have written about a site on a forum. Hopefully it will help other users to choose their holiday.
This was our fifth year of staying on this site and we have previously stayed in spring and summer seasons. When we book the site we have always been able to choose the pitch we would like from the vast choice of locations available.
The site is a big site with each pitch clearly marked out and big enough for any outfit, car and awning and more.
On arrival you are met by some of the many staff that work within the site and once you have booked in they will either confirm you know where you are going or accompany you down to your pitch so you know where you are staying.
Every year we have been to the site we have always seen a number of changes and alterations to improve the site which have included new flower borders, drainage, tree pruning and pathways. The grounds that this site sit in are really well stocked with established plants and trees and the every morning the staff are out to ensure that any litter is picked up, stones are brushed back on to paths etc. The grass should be described as lawns because they are cut twice a week and look immaculate.
There are three toilet blocks on site and each shows the improvements made over the years with each one being bigger and better equipped than the previous one. They are spread out within the site and the biggest block is in the middle of the site and is used by the majority of campers with vans and tents. This block has a good number of showers/washrooms and also has facilities for disabled users and a family room for younger guests.
The blocks are cleaned daily and the usual equipment is left in the block for each user to ensure that it is left as clean as they found it for the next user. We have stayed in all weathers and haven't had to wait long for showers / toilets etc and on the odd occasions you find a dirty floor in the shower it's down to us campers and not the staff who take pride in their cleaning.
The middle wash rooms have a laundry room and have all the regular makes of machines so that you should be able to wash and dry your clothes in something you are familiar with. There is also a freezer to keep you freezer blocks frozen for trips out.
The on site shop is small but has everything you need if you run out or need to carry out a small repair to something. They will order newspapers and the local butcher stocks up the fridge and freezer for those summer bbq's.
The riverside cafe has also developed of the past few years and now has indoor and outdoor seating and caters for all ages with breakfast, lunch and dinner available from those who like an early start til last orders for food which is normally about 9pm. The food and portions are excellent and the bar has a really good choice of ales and cider.
This is a family run site and the owners and their children are always around working on the site with the staff.
We have three children aged from 4 to 11 years and they always love coming here, the play area is a reasonable size and has an adjacent area for ball games where all the family can join in. The children always make a number of friends and the list of emails, xbox user tags etc are growing with every visit !
The site has signs around to remind people about noise after 10pm and the children's park closes at 9pm with the site manager walking around to remind children about ensuring they respect other campers and keep quiet.
As we have children we always like to be near the park area and I would suggest if you don't or are put off by watching children playing nicely you ask for a quieter pitch as they are plenty on this site. I have also seen the staff accommodate people moving between pitches during their stay.
This is a great site to relax and really unwind as you sit in the sun by the river, we will be returning here again next year

A return visit for us. And there will be many return visits I think as site is immaculate, clean and spacious. Pitches are well set out and we were next to the river. Staff helpful and very friendly. Cafe was added bonus and we again had cooked breakfast on our last morning which was delicious. Son bought a day pass to fish which he thoroughly enjoyed and as was next to tent we could keep an eye on him. Didn't feel cramped in and we were with 3 other families who all had a fab time. Lovely quiet location. Excellent like last year.

This was our first visit to this site and we will definitely be returning.
The site is immaculate, well kept & flat. All members of staff that we came in contact with were most helpful and polite. The shop on site is small but very well stocked and the adjacent café is an added bonus, providing breakfast and meals throughout the day if needed. It's licensed with a good variety of drinks both soft & alcoholic and is very reasonably priced - chicken curry & chips £5. 95 (excellent sized portion). They also offer a take-away service. At busy times expect to wait as everything is prepared to order.
There is a small play area on site for children and a larger space for ball games etc within the tent field for no EHU - although this may be dependent on how busy the site is.
We also booked a canoe 'adventure' along the River Wye with Hereford Canoe Hire (based on site) and with ages ranging from 6yrs - 48yrs I can honestly say it was loved by all and highly recommended. I would suggest taking plenty of water along with you for the journey (especially in the heat we've experienced recently) & snacks - although you may risk losing them if the canoe capsizes!
Short drive into Hereford where there is plenty of shopping and there are several pubs locally (although we didn't go we did pass them) Take Care walking to these as country lanes and very limited footpaths.
The toilet/shower blocks are well maintained although they can get very crowded at busy periods. There are 3 blocks on site but I do believe they would benefit from a 4th block at the furthest end of the site.
Also, whilst the site is dog friendly (the cafe even put bowls of water outside) and it's immaculately kept we did feel that it may benefit from extra Dog Bins as there are very few and quite a distance between them.
Overall an excellent, well run, friendly site that we will definitely be returning to

Just returned from a fabulous long weekend here as a group of four families in tents. Upon our arrival we were given our pitches and sent on our way to set up by very friendly helpful staff, 'pay later when you're passing by' they said - how refreshing. The site is immaculate, the best mowed grass we've ever stayed on! The campsite is a mix of some statics, caravans, motor-homes, tents and a handful of camping pods. We stayed in the field named 'Buzzard', we had electric hook-up and as the site filled up on the Friday, I think another shower/toilet block would be beneficial towards the far end of the 'Hare' field as we found block no. 3 a little congested at peak times. There is a playground there for younger children and room in the larger non-electric camping field for a traditional game of football with the kids if required. The site benefits from a licensed cafe and a shop, both run by really helpful friendly staff, the wait for food may be slow at peak times in the cafe as everything is made to order. We also hired canoes from 'Hereford Canoes' located in the bottom corner of the site and went for a four hour trip down stream on the adjacent River Wye. You are collected at the finish by them which was great. Overall a lovely site and very disappointed to leave, looking forward to returning.

Immaculate landscaping and plentiful helpful staff. Beautiful positioning by the Wye and Mordiford woods. Can recommend the Hereford canoe hire available from the site- we (2 adults and 2 kids under 11) did the 2hr paddle about. We pitched in Long Meadow which was roomy with great space for the kids to play football/cricket etc. I didn't fancy the other pitch areas which seemed too regimented and close together. The kids loved this site. Lots of paths to bike around and other kids to play with. The facilities were modern, but we had to queue for shower and the loo. They could have been cleaned more regularly too. It's a large site, so by default noisy, I. E. Kids still up and running around shouting after 10:30pm and before 7am. They don't allow gazebos, but don't enforce a 'quiet' rule? Cafe great addition and shop we'll equipped

Well what a fine site, expensive but somehow worth it.
We arrived and didn't even leave the cab, a most helpful chap took our name shot off and came back to say where we were pitched along with a neat colour map. I said about paying and he replied oh next time your passing, how good was that.
Large pitches, all very clean it was just the job and we had a great time.
16 minutes lethal walk to the local pub as no pavements but then found a great woodland walk there which only takes 25 mins where we and the Dogs had a great time so note this as then it's child friendly, not buggy friendly though.
Great site already planning a return trip.

This is the first time I have written a review, we have stayed at lots of campsites and enjoyed the cleanliness and facilities, even when others have written bad reviews we have said well we thought it was great, I now know we should have written good reviews for them because as they always say people are always quick to write a bad review but slow to write a good one, well this is true as I am about to prove as I am on pitch while writing!
We have toured up from Devon to Cheddar then Cheltenham and were having a great time until we reached this site which has totally ruined our holiday. I know people have written great reviews but all I can do is be honest. We are a couple on our own and are pitched opposite a large green area which is constantly noisy from kids playing loud ball games and kicking the balls near the caravans, when we told reception they said children are not supposed to play on this large green area next to the playground and they sent someone to tell the kids to leave, 30 mins later they were back. I am not anti children having 4 of my own and If I had them with me I would also be telling them to go and play on this green as there are no signs to tell them not to, it's not rocket science put some signs out so they know where they can and can't play!
We arrived on Monday, our nearest toilet/shower block is a shot walk and caters for all the tent pitches as well as at least 40 caravan pitches, I tried to go to the toilet in the evening and had to go back 3 times because the queue was so long, when I went to have a shower in the morning I had to queue and so now I make a point of being back on site by 3pm as that seems to be the only time they are free to have a shower. You might think I am exaggerating but this block which caters for about 100 men has two urinal bowls, 3 toilets and 3 showers, work it out for yourself. When you do get in they are filthy because of the rush, the floors are always soaking, there are no shelves in the shower cubicles to put anything. My wife walks twice the distance to go to an empty block which she says is very clean, now maybe the other reviews on here are written by women!
All in all the only thing I would give this site 5 stars for is it's size it's very big. So if you enjoy constant noise, filthy showers/toilets which are never available your welcome to it but we will never be back again and would have left early except being the busiest week of the year it's not possible to get into another site.

WOW! What a beautiful site. Lucksall was recommended by a camping neighbour last year and as such was put on the list of places to visit in 2014. We were able to specify the area of the site where we would prefer our pitch to be located and we were fortunate enough to be placed on a very large grass pitch that looked out across the river Wye. We were amazed just how close we were able to park and as such had the pleasure of seeing the ducks and passing canoeists on a daily basis. It was idyllic to say the least. The on site facilities were also of an equally high standard as the well maintained and manicured pitches. The washroom blocks of which there were three were beautifully clean, modern and fresh. I honestly could not find fault with any of them. The dog walk was more than adequate but the walks to the neighbouring villages were perfect for the slightly more ambitious walkers. The maps available for a small charge from reception were not overly helpful but we got there and back without too many problems. The on site cafe was a lovely bonus and the full english breakfast that we tried on the morning of departure was delicious. They were also more than happy to put two extra sausages in a bag for us to take back for our dog. The staff were lovely, polite and very friendly and the grounds staff worked tirelessly in the very hot weather. That said the grass mowing was never intrusive and was kept to a minimum whilst maintaing a lovely high standard. I can honestly say that I have recommended this site to so many people and we will definitely be returning in 2015.
