This site was excellent. Firstly showers are lovely and clean. The site is ideally placed for Boroughbridge and Knaresborough. Park in Mother shiptons cave attraction, it is free parking there and facilities are great, or it is only £1 for the day in the town.
Anyway back to the site. No large groups. Kids played lovely on the climbing frame and were allowed to kick a ball around without hassle. Tranquil and relaxing. Genuine people. Can't wait to return. Gutted we had to leave at 12 noon as there was no availability to stay longer.
5 star? You betcha

Great little site and don't be put off by the fact that the Power points are "up in the air" Just don't go in the monsoon season ! The water does rise in the river in heavy rain but does not threaten the site although in extra heavy rain we did notice the ducks enjoying some of the larger than usual puddles that start appearing as water obviously seeps upwards through the grass but in all the visits there (and we attract rain) there have never been problems. They are not unknown as the photos in the office will show, hence the Flood Banking... but not in the summer. This is one of my favourite sites and my "overnight stops " tend to last a week or even longer.

First time we have ventured over the "other side" whilst caravanning and what a site it was. Absolutely superb. The site is immaculate throughout. The toilet blocks must be the best there is for miles around. Just one moan however, (male thing?), if you have used the toilet and the hand wash cubicles are being used, then where do you wash your hands? Maybe another sink unit to be installed outside the cubicles? Overall, however, this did not upset our long weekend in Yorkshire.
The area around the site is fantastic if you want to explore on foot or bike. The town of Boroughbridge has everything you need whilst away. May I also recommend the local Spar shop on the high street, it sells the best sandwiches in the country (Ashberry Sandwiches), I recommend the smoked ham & double gloucester by the way. Fishing on the river certainly amused my young son for a while.
Site wardens could not have been more helpful, especially when my battery died on me, they certainly helped me out. Definately one site to return to, again and again. Roll on my next weekend off. Neil @ Blackpool.

A lovely well kept site, the toilets and showers are the cleanest we have seen. Not much to do in the immediate vicinity, but a short drive and you can visit Knaresborough and row on the lake or visit the castle etc. Morrisons is close by. Fish and chip van visits and they sell lovely chips and fish mmmmm!
The play ground keeps the little ones amused, as does watching the river at the end of the site, you can sit on the bank and watch the sun go down. A quiet relaxing site.

Immaculate site in a pretty location. The facilities were of a very high standard and even though the site was full they were kept spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly and helpful and the local newsagent comes round in the morning to sell newspapers and milk!

This was our first trip to a camping and caravan club site and we found this an excellent first choice. The site was small and friendly, the toilet and showers where cleanest we have ever stopped at. We choose to stay on a super pitch which was one of the widest pitches we have ever had on a super pitch. We stayed with two young children and our only BUT was, but by no means a critisism was that our children made friends with other children from the main field away from the super pitch area, so when we return again, which we will be doing I would advise any one with small children to go on the main field. 20 minutes from Fountains Abbey a NT attraction - wonderful and 30 minutes from York. Local pub 15 mintes walk food quite expensive, beer great, no real area for small children - nice village though! All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

A lovely peaceful site. Pitches are mailnly level. The showers/toilets and facilities were immaculate. The river Ure runs along the bottom of the site. The only downside for us was there were no walks in the immediate vicinity, you have to go in your car somewhere. Having said that, Knaresborough is very near and is gorgeous, you can take a out a row boat, of have a coffee in a riverside cafe.
The fish and chip van visits the site on Saturday and the food is of a very high standard. The wardens are very friendly and the shop sells basics like milk, chocolate and ice cream. If you like to chill out and sit outside your tent this is the place.

July 2003 May 2004 Having had 6 visits to this site in the last 12 months I found the review published to be a little down beat, in fact very down beat. This is a fantastic campsite run by cheerful happy folk who do all they can to make your stay memorable, the facilities are excellent, the 'hill' mentioned is the flood defences, hardly an issue. The river is great for canoeing and full of intresting wild life. Do'nt miss this site it's got to be one of the best.

The first site was just an overnight stop and is only a quick impression of the site. This site is nicely situated for the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. It is situated about 11 miles north of Harrogate (Flower Shows in Spring and Autumn and Arts Events) and about 20 miles from York (Museums etc.). The site is ideally situated for walkers (there were quite a few people in walking boots) and fishing (the River Ure flows at the back of the site).
The site amenities are up to the usual C&CC high standard for toilets, showers etc. There are also some all-weather all service pitches (TV, elec. hook-up, mains water and grey water disposal) as the site is open all year. The site is subject to occasional flooding so if the weather is bad then it is advisable to contact the warden for advice before going.Boroughbridge is about a mile away with shopping facilities. The nearest pub is in Roecliffe about 12 minutes walk away. The only disadvantage is that the direct route from most of the pitches to the toilets involves going up and down 20 steps in each direction.
There is a route around this and this involves negotiating a small hill (not the best scenario for disabled campers). Although it has only 80 pitches the warden uses a moped to get around. His assistant has to use the ubiquitous push bike. First impressions of the site are favourable and we will be making a return visit in the future.
