Welcomed by friendly warden and shown to pitch with improvised electric hook up over the stream. Exceptional toilet, shower block, spotlessly clean. Excellent washing up facilities although sometimes a little busy. Fish and chip van visited on a Saturday evening which was lovely! Wifi available at cost. Excellent site shop. Riverside location. Within easy reach of Morrisons large supermarket. Excellent for cycling (situated on cycling route. Playground available for children. Overall brilliant site and would definitely use again, make sure when booking that you stipulate electric hook up as on CCC Site this was not shown, when we arrived we were given a non hook up pitch as we had not asked for it on booking, but we thought we had, hence the improvised hook up over the stream.

Our third visit to the site very well placed for a stop off too or from Scotland and to visit North Yorkshire. Friendlily helpful staff. Bus stop at site entrance to town centre and regular service to many Yorkshire towns.
Good toilet block and laundry never had to queue for shower and the site was full. Riverside pitches and seemed to be a lot of fishing going on. Fish-and chip van called twice a week and reception sold anything you may have forgotten and you could order papers.
About a fifteen minutes walk to pub/restaurant in near by Roecliffe cannot remember name good food, there are plenty of places to eat and drink in Borough Bridge a good twenty minutes to half an hour walk passed the 'Arrows'.
Close by Morrison supermarket about ten minutes by car (they do a good breakfast). We will definitely be back the road noise mentioned did not bother us we sleep like logs.

We visited the site for the Bank Holiday Weekend. We hope the following will help you decide if it is for you.
Some positive points:
The site is very accessible due to the proximity of the A1
The wardens were very friendly and the toilet block is spotlessly clean.
The site is very well maintained and it is a credit to the wardens
The dog walk is a bit of a trek but was worth the walk
Boroughbridge and Ripon are on your doorstop and are both worth a visit Ripon Cathedral is stunning.
Foundations Abbey is close by too and despite Henrys best efforts, there is still plenty left to see!
Some negatives:
The traffic noise is constant not intrusive, but a constant rumble
Due to flooding risk, the hard standings are concrete, so awnings etc have to go on the grass which results in the kids and dog paddling in when it rains!
The site access road is in a big circle and the traffic past the pitch really started getting on our nerves and a pelican crossing would have been useful! Try and get a pitch off the road if you can

The usual high standard from the C&CC. Excellent reception on arrival, helpful wardens, neat and tidy and good facilities.
As mentioned in other reviews, there are 3 camping areas. The one furthest from the A1 appeared to be used by groups and families. The other two had a mixture of caravans and tents. We were in the field closest to the A1 which we thought might be noisy from the continual passing of traffic. Funnily enough because the traffic noise is continuous it becomes a background issue and you soon forget it (similar to camping by a stream or river) and it did not interfere with sleeping.
Despite looking relatively full, the facilities coped well with the numbers and there was no queuing for showers or toilets.
The town is only a 10 minute walk where there are plenty of pubs and a large Morrisons supermarket. 10 minutes in the opposite direction is a foodie pub in Roecliffe. A bit pricy but the food was excellent. It would be wise to book as it's clearly popular with locals.
We used the site as a base for walking dividing our time between the Dales to the west and the North York Moors to the east.
We will certainly return.

We were in a bit of a situation - no where to camp after driving 4 hours - rang Boroughbridge, they had 1 pitch left which was fantastic seeing as it was bank holiday weekend and every other site was fully booked.
Lovely clean site, friendly wardens, clean toilets & showers, lovely heated washing up area.
There was a small children's play area which was great for my 5 year old daughter. She spent most of her time there.
Very well looked after site and the people that run it could not do enough for us. Fab site and will definitely use again if in the area.
There is a morrisons not far from the site. (couple mins drive)

The site is in 3 sections the furthest from the A1 being the camping field.
I suggest asking if you can reserve the central section as nearest to the facility blocks and less noisy,
Suggest if in a tent you take a portable loo as the section closest to the A1 is a bit of a walk (especially if you need a loo late at night).
Got good wi-fi reception so okay with a computer, TV best to take a portable satellite systems, wardens friendly as usual, block spotless, kids enjoyed the play area.
Football and games okay in the tent field.
Great chip shop in boroughbridge, Morrisons is the local supermarket.

A warm welcome certainly makes a difference on a cold grey wet Friday, and really sets you up for your stay and that is what we received here. The wardens were exemplary; from walking in to reception we were greeted with a smile and given full details on the site, it's facilities and local area. We had booked the site after reading the reviews on the CCC website and we were not disappointed.
This was our first outing in our new caravan and we were a little nervous of pitching up, however after being shown to our large hardstanding pitch the warden assisted my husband professionally, patiently and calmly, coaching him until we were level, probably saving us 30 mins and an argument in the process. So this would be a great site for any first timers.
Although the site is quiet, it is suitable for young families (the river is fenced off)and there is a small play area for children ( 2 swings and a slide), and there was plenty of room to have a run around, it was great we didn't use the car once instead opting to have a pleasant 15 min walk into Boroughbridge heading left out of the site where you pass the 3 devils arrows and you can also visit the many tiny shops and pubs in the town, the Black bull gave a lovely warm welcome, a little more up market and a 15 min walk to the right of the site is the Crown Hotel (gastro pub) in Roecliffe, however be warned, walking gear is not really appreciated in the crown, it does serve lovely (albeit pricey) food, advance booking essential.
The facilities are immaculate, and warm, although my only criticism ( and I am being picky) is that there were only 2 loos and no general sink to wash your hands afterwards, instead there was 2 washing booths, so if they were in use you would have to wait, this no way impacted on my stay. There is a family washing room, to use this facility speak with reception and they will provide a key. I can not wait to return to this site, Thank you for a wonderful weekend

First visit to the Boroughbridge site for a long weekend with friends. A great, well landscaped site, one of the nicest I have been to in ten years caravanning. The wardens are great, really friendly, courteous and helpful. We were given a flat and level concrete hardstanding, and guided onto the pitch in the dark by the warden, a nice touch. The site has a spotless shower block, complete with all usual facilities such as laundry room and dishwashing area, all inside and warm. There is an extensive dog walk, including a large completely fenced in field where the dogs can run around off the lead. Very good. We saw the playground whilst walking round, looked very good. Boroughbridge is very close, and is a great place. Parking on the central car park is free and unlimited. Some nice small shops, tea rooms, butchers and a handy bike shop. We had a meal at the crown hotel, which was fantastic quality and value. All in the party had a great time, and we will be making a return visit to see more of the local area.

As already stated, very friendly wardens, spotless toilets, generally pleasant. When we were there, the shop sold one or two essentials such as milk, which was useful. Initially aware of noise from motorway, but adjusted to it!
Boroughbridge is lovely, historic town with all essentials including local bakers (good pies!), butchers and even a small bike shop, which does repairs! The Black Bull sold good beer at good prices and made us very welcome.
Some local riverside/village walks- leaflets available at campsite for 20p. (Also had good range of attraction leaflets etc). Pleasant countryside- plenty of villages to explore by bike- hardly any traffic on country lanes and not many hills!
All in all, enjoyed stay. Will return. Worth noting - campsite open all year.
