Just returned from this site and it was great. The staff were very helpful, the toilets and showers were immaculate. Playground consists of 2 swings (1 normal and 1 baby) and a V shaped log climbing frame with slide attached. Our children (aged 5) seemed happy with it.
One thing I did notice was that all the guests were so friendly, everybody spoke in passing and made it feel a safe place to stay. Its close to the A1 so no challenging roads to go down with the caravan.
We had a steady walk to Boroughbridge which took 20 mins, there's a few shops, post office, fishing shop, spar, amongst others. There is a morrisons nearby but its a car journey (especially if your buying heavy things).
Turning the other way out of the site was roecliffe, which looked to be a lovely village. We called in at the pub, which seemed busy with locals and the food looked fab, I didn't look at the prices but it had a feel it wouldn't be cheap.
The fish and chip van calls on a thursday and saturday at 4.30pm (he drives round the site tooting his horn to let you know he's arrived)before parking up near reception.
There's fishing on site in the river, you buy permits from reception.
Overall a great site which I would return to at some point in the future.

Lovely site overlooking the river. We requested a non hook up pitch so we were in the far field, massive field and the added bonus was that there were only about five other tents/campers on this field. The staff were helpful and friendly. The site is little more expensive than others we have visited but this is due to it been a Caravan Club site - I believe. The only negative points are the A1 quite nearby, not a massive issue. There is also a dairy across the road which can be quite noisy at points during the early hours. Borough Bridge is walking distance but much of it is on a busy road. The fish and chip van that visits the site is great, very useful and the staff are lovely and very organised with the orders. The only thing I would say if you are not a dog lover probably not the place for you. All dogs are meant to be on a lead at all times and there is a specific dog walking area, but not everyone adheres to the rules.

What a great site, friendly helpful wardens, site kept very well. Short walking distance of the town well worth the walk out has lots of nice shops, pubs and tearooms.
Also added bonus fish and chip van visits Thursday and Saturday great freshly cook fish and chips well worth having. The shop also sells ice creams all in all a great little site. The whole site is kept very clean to a high standard.

This is a really well maintained site with very helpful wardens.
The shop is handy for essentials and has useful local leaflets and a range of books
Toilets we thought were outstanding, really clean and well maintained.
Road noise is distant and once inside your unit is hardly audible.
There is a good walk from the site along the river and canal to Ripon with an hourly bus service back. Ask the wardens, but you only have to walk the road to Roecliffe to start the river walk

What a fantastic little site this is, contrary to previous reviews, if the noise from the A1 is a problem then you must have super acute hearing. If the spacing between pitches is a problem you must be used to a whole field to yourselves.
The Wardens are as friendly and helpful as you could hope for. The site is immaculate as is the toilet block and the location is perfect for exploring the area, Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough are within easy driving distance.
We will definitely be visiting again.
Oh, and the fish & chip van that visits on a Thursday and Saturday evening does cracking F&C.

We have just returned from a 2 night trip to this site. We were disappointed with the site but can see that it is a useful stopover place on the way to other places.
Positives:
* Toilet block is spotlessly clean and warm
* Beside a river so handy if you like to fish
* Easy access to the A1 for stopovers
* Safe place for children to play
* Small site and not too overwhelming
* No late night noise from other campers, just the A1!
Not so good:
* Noise from A1 and road outside the site was not good for us, but it may not be a problem for others.
* Pitches were quite small and close together, we felt quite hemmed in. However, in other areas of the site, where there were hard standing pitches, this didn't look as much of a problem.
* It is a club site and we know 'rules is rules' but staff were quite vociferous in telling people off. We are all for a bit of orderliness to keep everyone happy, but we felt that the way people were spoken to was unnecessary!
* Reception has a shop but it is very poorly stocked selling only ice lollies.
* Play park is small, 2 swings and a slide.
Overall, we were disappointed by this Site and will not be returning as there are plenty other sites in the area which are better by far.

Largely agree with most of what has been said before about this site. Friendly wardens, spotlessly clean toilets and close to a lovely little village - Roecliffe.
Site location itself is fine but contrary to some of the other reports, its not amongst my top ones, although I can't say traffic noise from the main road bothered us.
Boroughbridge is a mile away and handy for shopping, pubs and stores generally. Didn't find a decent coffee shop though!
The highlight for us was Roecliffe village. Picturesque little place and the Crown Inn is a great centre piece. Good food although as said before, more main meals than snacks.

We arrived at Boroughbridge to be greeted by really friendly Wardens.
We were shown to our pitch and the warden even helped us uncouple the caravan.
The site is really peaceful and very picturesque with a river running across the bottom that you can fish on during the fishing season.
There is a pool room just near the entrance where the toilet block and all amenities are. The warden explained that this is because the camping field and hard standing areas are built on a flood plain.
The toilets and washing areas are spotlessly clean and pretty roomy, and the dog walk is a good size too.
The reception is lacking essentials and could do with stocking.
The village of Roecliffe is ten minutes walk one way with a pub and the Roecliffe ramble starting point. In the other direction fifteen minutes walk away is the village of Boroughbridge that has numerous shops and pubs and takeaways.
Boroughbridge is a great place to make a base for exploring local areas like Rippon, York, Knaresborough and Pickering. All in all a really good site with friendly wardens and lots to do nearby.

What a lovely site, quite small but well laid out.
Showers were clean and warm, the play area a bit small but centrally located. The site shop was limited and the games room was well out of the way near the entrance which for us was not that good as our children are young. It would be ok for teenagers.
The nearby town was lovely and had enough shops to keep us well stocked. The biggest bonus was the Bluebell pub which had amazingly cheap food on offer, well worth the 5 minute drive.

We have just returned from a visit to Boroughbridge
An excellent site, fantastic loos and facilities
We were lucky enough to get a pitch on the river bank, views of fishermen, narrow boats, cruisers even rowing boats, very relaxing despite the rain, we never had any problem with noise, pitch sizes were quite generous.
The Crown Inn in Roecliffe is well worth visiting
No pub grub it is really a restaurant turn right out of the site 10 mins vigorous walk there 15 mins back
