Just returned from Boroughbridge and we were very impressed. Some of the areas looked a bit full - but we went without EHU and were positioned in the field to the left with loads of room each.
The facilities are excellent, very clean, and loads of them - best I have ever experienced. Plus our son seemed to enjoy the playground, where he spent all his time. It also proved a great location for Knaresborough and Harrogate.
Only negatives are the risk of flooding as it is ona flood plain next to the river - and some of the winds that run acros the plain became a bit strong - but both these are minor.
The wardens/staff were very polite and helpful - and overall couldn't ask for anything more.

We had a lovely stay here at Boroughbridge.
It was a lovely flat green site with the bonus of the river right on its doorstep. The facilities were immaculate and warm and during the week the site was quite quiet - although over the week we never had to queue for a shower and often had them to ourselves. At the weekend it was busy but we did not find that the units were squeezed in too much.
The play area was basic but our children were quite happy with it and it was not overly busy as many of the caravan units were just couples not families. Morrisons is only a couple of minutes away which meant that we were not bothered by the lack of a well-stocked shop.
We visited Fountains Abbey, Beningbrough Hall, Brimham Rocks (superb for climbing even with little ones - you could spend a whole day there), Ripon, Mother Shipton's Cave and Knaresborough, Harlow Carr Gardens and Valley Gardens in Harrogate all of which we would recommend.
On the Friday we took our 3 and 6 year olds to Lightwater Valley which they really enjoyed (their first theme park) and it was really quite empty with little queuing. We were a little disappointed with Newby Hall who charge extra for their miniature railway and are quite pricey at thirty pounds for a family garden ticket. Picnics were welcome everywhere.
Overall we would thoroughly recommend this exemplary site with the added benefit of lots to do within easy reach. We were not bothered by very distant road noise or the noisier factories close by.
If you are taking a family you might want to take some of those cheap fishing nets - another family took my girls fishing and they caught a few small fish which they then threw back in.

This was our first visit to a camping and caravan club site, we chose Boroughbridge as we was fairly close by for a run out in our new cararvan. The wardens were friendly, and we had never been directed into a pitch before, it was a nice touch.
The facilities were spotless, and all housed together. A fair sized dog walk, our collie loved it!
However I was disappointed with my C&CC experience, not because of the site itself, but it didn't seem as friendly as CC sites or other private sites we have been on.
I was aware of the road noise through the night, but I wouldn't be put off by this.
We had a trip into Harrogate, and with that a visit to Betty's only for some cakes to take out. It is certainly something everyone should experience at least once! Sadly your pocket and your waistline could not afford you to do it more often than that!
A lovely indian restaurant in Boroughbridge, the food was excellent.
All in all a good little site with excellent facilities.

A lovely site. Immaculate facilities. Well spaced pitches and 6 metre rule was enforced by warden! No shop on site but Morrisons within 10 minutes drive. Only gripe (which has been mentioned previously) was the kids running round the van.
Just watch the entry into the site and when leaving as there is a risk of grounding- take it slow! Loved the site, already booked for New Year!

First of all the not so good bits
Very crowded in places, the windbreak police were very busy rearranging windbreaks !
We were shown to a quiet part of the park away from the play ground and then the site put several families in with tents amongst the caravans
The smell of sewerage by the bridge wasn't good
The 17ft water level is a clue to how much it floods here on the site
On the plus side
Nicely located on near the motorway junction only about 5 mins
Facilities are as always first class
Nice riverside location
Fish and chip van on a thursday and saturday on site
Playroom for the kids, good information centre
Easy access to York, Harrogate and Boroughbridge is quite nice
Overall
Not a bad campsite

On arrival we were dealt with quickly, and given a choice of where to pitch with consideration to our needs. Perfect. The pitches are level, well looked after, drained well and are very spacious, some bigger than others though. The hard standings I noticed, were concrete with grass, very spacious, level, and dotted around the site, not isolated in 1 specific area.
There are 4 areas to pitch, 1/A HUGE meadow with no electric (quite a walk to the facilities), 2/ A mix of hard standing and grass with electric (with the gravel road running around it), 3/ A grassed area with electric and non electric (next to the children's play area), 4/ A mix of hard standing and grass pitches with electric (again a fair way from facilities, and with a gravel road running around it). There is only the 1 block of facilities, and for a site of this size I thought was a bit inadequate.
The River Ure that runs alongside the site has moorings for £4.40 per day and fishing permits per day/week, we took our inflatable with electric motor and had a ball bobbing up and down the river.
The only downsides to this site is the occasional smell & noise, from the dairy farm and industrial estate close by and noise from the A1/M1 (but you stop noticing that after a while). Also, there is only a very basic area for walking dogs and not much else in the surrounding area dog walk wise.
Boroughbridge is a delightful town with a Morrisons and range of pubs and restaurants, The Crown Hotel, Boroughbridge, do an absolutely fantastic 3 course Sunday Lunch for £12.50, the roast beef was outstanding ! We love Yorkshire and there is a wealth of things to do in the area, which is why we will definitely make this site one of our regular haunts. Loved it !

Good clean site, well maintained showers and toilet block at site entrance. No basic provisions for sale in the reception shop which would have been useful. Plenty of local shops in nearby Boroughbridge and a Morrisons supermarket.
The only 2 bad points worth mentioning was the lack of lighting on a night on the approaches to the toilet block and the distance of some units from electric hook up points leaving long lengths of cable trailing across the grass.

First time on this site, very modern and clean toilet and shower block, one of the best if not the best I have seen. Which for me is all you need when stopping over for one night.
Warden's very friendly, showed use to the pitch and made a point of getting the van on level ground.
I would say the site was half full being mid week, very quite and friendly Atmosphere.
Fifteen minute walk in to the town, called at a couple of the pubs and found them to be very friendly.
No problem what so ever with any noise from the A1 traffic, if I have on gripe, the pitch was a fair walk to the toilet block. But hey it was dry and sunny and I need the exercise.
All ready planning the next trip when we will use it as a base when touring around the dales.

The site was lovely and immaculately clean and tidy and our children 3 and 1 years old loved the freedom in the camping field.
We pitched just on the river banks which was beautiful and great excitement came for our children when the boats came by.
The toilet block was fantastic, clean warm and well stocked and the family bathroom we used (£5 deposit charged for this) was great with a large shower and a baby changing unit with bath sunken in which fit both the kids in comfortably.
The only gripe we had was the charge for freezing of ice packs at 50p per pack per time we thought this was a little steep and not proportionate at all and would add to the cost if you had a long stay here.
The staff were helpful and very friendly and worked non stop to keep the site well maintained. The shop was poor selling only soft drinks and ice creams so a few more provisions from there would have been a bonus.
The motorway in the distance can be heard but wasn't a problem the nearby factory created more noise but nothing that would put us off returning to what we found to be a truly lovely site!
Locally we visited Knaresborough and Boroughbridge which were both lovely although a bit soggy in the rain!

We have just spent a week at this site and really enjoyed it.This was our 1st trip in our touring caravan and we are well and truly hooked.
Good points:
*Warm clean toilet&shower facilities
*Massive hard standing pitches
*Great easy location
*Superb grounds
*Child friendly
Bad points:
*needs lighting at bottom of steps(campsite end)
*Warden drives rather fast on lawn mower
*Kids running in between caravans
*Site shop needs to sell milk at least
It is still a great site just little things that could do with tweeking for a 5*campsite.
