June 04 On a hill so need to pick tent pitch carefully.
Can just turn up which is good.
Very good toilets and showers etc. Shop on site, entertainment on site and is very good.
Food available - ggreat breakfast but expensive at £5.99 for a large fry up!
Would visit again. Paul

August 2003 Just returned from this very well run site that offers some of the best views we have ever had on any site. On a clear day the seascape and landscape is awesome, so pitch your tent facing the sea or you miss it. Avoid pitching down the bottom field near the nearly new and excellent shower block as the path to the clubhouse is there and gets noisy at kicking out time. There is a swimming pool ( outdoor) that the kids loved even though it was a bit murky for me to venture in. The nightly entertainment was basic but catered well for the youngsters , not my cup of tea but I cannot speak for everyone. The only downside for me was it was the peak week and there was an element whose rowdiness and attitude to others spoiled things for others but the standard of camper was generally high and its a shame a few can ruin things for others. Overall it is a great site in a superb location and I will try it outside peak season when I expect it to be quieter. The coastal walks were incredible with views that made you gasp. Often leading to deserted beaches , if you don't mind a climb down and up again of course. Go for it..there are much worse sites than this about plus you have as much room as you need ( 13 acre site) and the charges are very reasonable.

August 2003 This was the first time I have been camping and did not know what to expect. What a lovely surprise....friendly and helpful staff, a lovely, if hilly, site.We were allowed to pitch where we wanted, at very reasonable prices. The shower block was clean with masses of hot water, the only down side was the long wait for the 4 showers, and for the 4 washing-up sinks ( the ones at the rear of the block only had cold water). Also, there are no hairdryers, so take your own. The facilities were good with a lovely pool and club house/ childrens games room. The down side to the pool was that too few rules meant that babies were taken in minus swim nappies...YEUK, luckily we did not see any 'unidentified substances' in the water but more by luck I think. The pub at the end of the road was a real disappointment, I heartily recommend giving it a miss!! All in all it was a great holiday, and I hope that the next campsite I visit is as enjoyable.

July 2003 Well, this was our first camping holiday, and we chose a lovely site. We have two kids (aged 9 & 7), so we needed somewhere with a few facilities to keep them occupied. OK, let me describe the site: you turn off the main road leading to Weymouth - there's another site on the corner, which looks a lot more basic - don't get them confused! About a half a mile up the narrow lane is Osmington Mills. You enter at the top of the site, and the view is superb - a long, rolling field leading downhill towards the sea, with some beautiful Dorset countryside around and about.
The best thing about this site is that it's SO laid back. You drive in, choose your site, get your tent up, make a cuppa, sit down, chill out. Still nobody bothers you - you don't actually have to pay until 10am the next morning. And even then, they don't seem to mind if you haven't paid. A guy comes around to collect any unpaid fees sometime mid-morning. Charges were £16 per tent, some nominal amount for pup tents, and (I think) gazebos were free. They didn't seem to mind how much space you took up, so we spread ourselves out as much as possible! The field is surrounded by tall hedges, and also broken up by the same at regular intervals. There are numerous water points, with adequate rubbish bins provided, and two shower / toilet blocks, each with plenty of stainless steel washing up facilities. The older block is at the top, and although it could do with a bit of renovation, was very clean and not smelly. Showers were hot and free. The shop is next to it, where you pay, and sold all the usual stuff. Down the bottom of the field is the newer block, but we never went there.
Near the top, through a gap in the hedge, is a small but effective play park, consisting of a very good roundabout, six swings and the Rolls Royce of all climbing frames! It got busy only on the odd occasion - the kids loved it.
Down the bottom of the field a short walk takes you to the bigger shop, which sold everything you wanted (and more). Right next to this was the bar / food building and the outdoor swimming pools. We went on the first day (in the rain!) and it was deserted. Very nice and warm, and clean - although perhaps could do with a bit of modernisation. The next day, when the sun was out, the pools were - unsurprisingly - teeming with life!
If you continue walking down, you eventually reach the sea. It's a stoney / rockpool type of beach, with lovely clifftop walks available if you like that sort of thing. There's a pub down near the beach too, which looked very nice. There was also one in the village on the main road, which had extensive playpark facilities, but always looked busy. Ten minutes' drive away is Weymouth, your typical seaside town with a Victorian feel about it. The first mile or so of beach is stoney, but if you keep going, it's got a lovely large sandy bit about half a mile long. Plenty of shops too.
Even at the height of the season, the campsite was not busy, and we thoroughly recommend it.

19th to 22th July 2003 Being new to camping and having visited a few local sites that charge for extra kids/adults, visitors, hot showers, and if you step out of your car/tent or pitch space senario, Osmington Mills has been a welcome relief! Very friendly and understanding and very much a family campsite.
Osmington Mills has been a wonderful experience for us. Beautiful countryside, large expansive grounds for pitching and you can pitch where you like! We are a family with 2 small children and the pool and Ranchhouse included in the pitch price kept our two kids amused all day. Ringstead Bay is 20 mins walk along the coast, loads to visit via Weymouth or Poole by car.
We will be back there soon!

3/4th july 03 Have just returned from a tour of the west country and decided to stop off halfway back to London and chose Weymouth. Found this site by accident just outside and were really pleased. Lovely setting. A mix of some static lodges and caravans in beautiful setting. Separate and absolutely huge fields for tents etc. We had a camper van and although site had no hook up and we were slightly sloping it was so nice we stayed an extra night as well. Nicely set out site with hedges to make separate sections, sea, hills or cows grazing for views. All facilities were clean with powerful, hot showers. the location was extremely beautiful. Short 5 mins walk to lovely thatched pub (good food and very popular) near very tiny boulder and rock beach and coast and country walks. Shop, bar and restaurant etc with outdoor swimming pool and children pool in lovely garden. Bus to Lulworth and Durdle Door from site. Riding also at stables at top of hill. Please note though we went in term time I am sure this site would be very busy at peak times. Helpful staff and will definitely return. Not expensive and all facilities were included.
