Rosewall is a lovely camp site with plenty of space, neat and tidy fields and clean and well maintained facilities. The site slopes down from the main entrance and some parts are steep, however there are plenty of areas with only a slight slope. Some of the grass is slippery when wet for feet and cars. The shop was open from 8 until 6 and well stocked, including gas.
There are bins and water points regularly spaced around the site and two shower blocks. These are regularly cleaned, although in the rain they do become muddy. Water was hot and never ran out. Each shower block has washing up facilities. The facilities look quite new.
We went mid week. Pitches are not marked out. There are no hookups. We found a pleasant pitch at the top of the site with a great sea view.
The site does not allow large groups, only families and individual tents. Consequently it was quiet by 10 p.M. Very peaceful. Our daughter quickly found friends to play with. There is a small play ground but it is for younger children.
Nearby, there is a family pub (Smugglers Inn) next to the beach (6 minute walk) which was very busy and quite expensive. The beach itself is rocky not sand. There are costal walks to Weymouth (4 miles of up and down path) and Lulworth Cove (6 miles).
We recommend this site and would use it again. We also recommend the Brewers Fayer restaurant attached to Sea Life in Weymouth for a family meal (great offers before 6 p.M) or a visit to the 'Old Harbour' which has lots of restaurants and interesting things to look at - we ate at the 'Rendezvous' which was shabby but good value.

Very good value for money and child friendly due to lovely playground and peacefulness of the site in the day, evenings and nights. Nice to be able to sleep at decent times and enjoy the silence (well almost! I meant no radio/loud music when we were there) -
It was easy to make a booking and we received a confirmation. And booking was found on arrival. So no trouble with paper work and people I dealt with were friendly.
I would agree with what was said in recent reviews including the wasps!
Although I will go there again, did not give 10 as I think shower facilities could perhaps be improved with increasing the length of water flow. Ie. We kept having to push the button to get water running so shower time would take for ever! Also, if a mop was left in the shower people could give a quick wipe to floor for next user.

Just returned from this site. Was a great site, kids loved it.
Had a couple of days of heavy rain, but so much to do in surrounding areas that it didn't really bother us, and some attractions are better when quiet!
Site had a good, well priced shop for a campsite miles from any where. Washing machines are £3 and take 30 mins, cleaned well. Tumble driers are 20p for 5 mins.
Toilet blocks were well stocked and clean, we mainly used the lower block.
Staff very friendly. Fresh croissants and rolls delivered each morning.
Plug sockets in laundry room, people charged mobiles etc.
Went to a lovely pub in Sutton Poyntz, towards Weymouth, had a lovely stream with rocks to paddle in. Also had days out to Sea Life, brilliant, mostly oudoors, wet park, so take Swim Suit.
Went to Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Corfe Castle, Studland Bay. Note, this is no free parking for disabled badge holders.
Cashpoint is towards Weymouth inside a Co-Op shop, it is free to withdraw, only one for miles.
Very hard grounding, recommend a hammer , not a mallet! Have fun! and would definitely recommend
Site shop has card facilities, lots of leaflets. Quite slopey site, be careful in rain as kids skidded and fell of bikes on the road, some cars got a bit stuck too.
Park is small but was VERY well used by kids on the site, has all it needs.

Overall this is a really good site.
Good points:
The facilities are clean and plentiful
The sea views are fantastic
The shop is well stocked
Ice packs are available for hire
Staff are friendly and helpful
The pitches are not marked out allowing you to pitch where ever there is space and as it is a big site there is plenty of space
Not noisy at night
Fantastic views of the night sky
Bad points:
There were quite a few wasps knocking about. But that is obviously not a criticism of the site!
The surrounding area is very nice, one or two handy supermarkets, a pub at the end of the lane and a beach beyond that. I can't comment on the pub or beach further as we ran out of time and didn't visit them.
We would certainly return to this site.

Stayed here the first weekend of the school summer holiday. I thought this was a 1st class campsite which I thoroughly recommend. The field, the toilets and the showers were all excellent and at NO extra cost. Everything was very clean and tidy - all round an excellent campsite in an excellent location. With all the walking in the local vicinity we will definitely return next year. For all you walkers out there I would recommend walking around Portland - fantastic scenery and a great little cafe at the end of the Portland Bill.

Just returned from a most pleasurable stay at Rosewall. Even though the Site was full there was plenty of room to find a pitch, even if slightly on the slant. There are no EHU's on site, which didn't bother us in the slightest - it gave the Site a more 'camp like' feel if you get what I mean. We thought with the Site being full we would have to queue for showers/toilets etc - delightfully this was never the case during our 5 nights stay. Both wash blocks in top & bottom fields were clean and tidy on all occasions.Never had to queue for a washing up sink either. The wash rooms had free power points for hair dryers, shavers etc - many folks charging their phones! No charge for showers too.
Staff very welcoming and friendly as was the farms dog 'Sparky'. Our lads made good use of the peaceful fishing lakes, largest catch being 15.8lb carp, which are just a short stroll out of the camp site. Permits must be purchased before fishing - check web site for prices.
Litter bins, rubbish etc collected every day and the Site was spotless. Most beautiful views all around - a real gem. Apart from the odd baby crying (there was a lot families with very young children) the Site is very quiet and relaxing. There was a small play park for the younger children which always appeared busy.
Easy walk down to the pub and rocky beach - not so easy back up !
For those who like the more quiet beaches and superb views, try a visit to Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove,Kimmeridge Bay or Portland Bill all just a short drive away. Weymouth just 15mins drive offers more shops, golden sandy beach, entertainment, candy floss, donkey rides etc. Also Weymouth offers a selection of large supermarkets, if the shop of Site doesn't have what you're after.
All in all this Site certainly goes in our Top 5 and we've been camping for quiet some years now.
For the boys the added bonus of the fishing was the icing on the cake and they have already asked to return next year.

Fantastic site! Confirmed our stay by paying a small deposit a few months before - all very efficient. Stayed midweek for 4 nights and got a fantastic spot at the top of the site (field nearest entrance)where it was definitely the quietest and not at all cramped. We were also still a short walk to the excellent showers/toilet block that was always relatively clean. There was a power cut during our last night - but the owners informed campers that they had called the electricity company and sure enough there was a much appreciated generator there we could have showers later that morning!:-)))) Wish I'd known there was electricity points in the shower block - wonderful for us campers that still like our home comforts while camping!
The shop/reception was well stocked and friendly staff. Like previous reviewers, we went to the excellent Smugglers Inn in Osmington Mills for food, although beware - we were very disappointed on our last night that they finished accepting orders half an hour before normal (at 8:30'ish instead of 9pm) because their kitchen couldn't cope. They did apologise and say it was very unusual. Enjoyed a Dolminos from Weymouth in the tent instead.
Kids enjoyed the little playground and I would have used the laundrette if it hadn't been for the powercut! May well return to next yr.

Very friendly, great shop, plenty of space, great location with a very nice pub at the bottom of the road,
We stayed from a Friday to Monday and had a great time, be careful were you pitch as it is a little on the slopey side and if I was to be picky the ground was a little hard when the tent pegs went in.
This was our first outing in our new trailer tent so we had to get a relatively even pitch, which we did.
Will be going back next year.

We spent a wonderfully relaxing 4 days at this site. You can pitch where you like. Just one road runs down through the site- very open so kids and drivers can see each other. A lovely little playground. Great to sit outside your tent and keep an eye on the kids making friends and playnig in the large open fields. There are two well maintained/well designed toilet blocks and a good shop. A footpath leads from the bottom of the campsite to the Smuggler's Inn (excellent- but busy!)and rocky beach (not suitable for paddling). Rolling hills all around and the cows who's milk you can purchase in the shop are in the adjacent field. The site is a bit slopey in places but lots of room for everyone.

We had e mailed the site prior to booking, replies were quick, friendly and helpful.
On arrival, booking in was easy, friendly and the shop was well stocked with all essentials, Although the site is on a slope, with good views of the sea, it was not a problem to find a decent pitch and still had enough room for our two daughters and partners who arrived a day later to camp alongside us.
Toilets and showers were cleaned regularly and never a queue. Access to the coastal footpath is at the bottom of the site, a five minute stroll to the smugglers pub and Weymouth no more than 15 minute car ride away, Lulworth and Durdle Door to the east,
Summary, as with any campsite, toilet and shower facilities can get messy at busy times and pitches are not always dead level, but if you see staff, cleaning toilets, collecting rubbish and mowing grass on a regular schedule, you cannot ask for more.
