This was our third visit to Rosewell and we have booked our fourth.
The site is beautifully positioned for walking and visiting local places. The views are spectacular across Weymouth Bay.
The site is always clean and well maintained.
I love that the pitches are not marked out, which makes things a lot more relaxed.
The staff are always friendly, the shop well stocked and reasonably priced.
Whilst the showers/toilets are kept clean, they do get very busy during peek periods.
We have tried both the Smuggles (bottom of the road)Inn and The Sun Inn (top of the road) and have found te Sun much better value for money when eating and the service much faster.
Overall, we have always had enjoyable and relaxing stays.

Great campsite. Amazing views down a valley to the sea. Very clean toilet blocks, both of them were good. The upper one has better showers as there's a dry area in each cubicle with a hook for clothes etc.
Nice playground on site. Our 7 year old loved it. The nearly 9 year old was less impressed.
Shop had everything you might need. It is on the more expensive side, but showers and hot water are free unlike some other sites.
The walking is great along the coast path.
Smugglers pub is about 10 minute walk away (at small child pace). It's in a great location but the food we had was appalling, I would only go there for a drink in future. The pub in the village (Sunray? or something like that) had much better food and a play area for kids.
Only minor niggle about the site is the attitude of the staff, they were curt almost to the point of being unfriendly. A smile occasionally would have been pleasant.

Excellent site within easy reach of Weymouth and Durdle Door etc. Facilities were very good - although hot water at top toilet block stopped working for a short while one day. However, a very large (second) block not too far away, and this was always very clean.
There's a great fish and chip shop not to far away on the road into Weymouth (the one on the corner - not the second one).
The site hires out BBQ stands for tray BBQ's, although next time I'll take my own protable one. Great views of the sea, well stocked shop and friendly site staff. All in all, I would definitely recommend!

Came here due to planned site waterlogged.
A late 50's couple
Parked close to entry gate at top of site as unsure if motorhome would get stuck in the field.
Very quiet so had easy access to showers, very clean. However I feel the 2 blocks would be a struggle to cope if site full(200+ pitches)
No hookups but not an issue to us. It just seems to be a tent camping site rather than motorhomes so as not to spoil the level and perfect cut grass
Reasonable little shop on site.
Reasonable price for pitch.
If you want a short walk down the lane you will find one of Englands finest fair weather pubs you could ever hope to come across. Child friendly in fine weather, The Smugglers, and the sun sets over the garden, Cheers !
Beach access not that great but if you want fishing or horse riding this is the place.
Good position to take car to surrounding area's of Weymouth for fun and life or Lulworth Cove for it beauty and Swanage for lazy pace and good fish n chips.

We just LOVE this place, laidback, no marked pitches, sea views, relaxing, quiet and on a clear night just the most amazing star filled sky.
Toilet block very clean, small shop which has most things you need and warden on site.
It is a little expensive but it is worth every penny just for where it is.
We have tried the Smugglers Inn down the road for food, first time it was ok and the second time it was terrible, not going to chance food a third time maybe just a drink?
Coast walks have just the best veiws and there is a great beach at Ringstead (dogs allowed all year)about 25mins walk east.
This is Dorset at it's best and many thanks to the owners who should be very proud of their campsite and the service they provide.

My husband, me and the dog, found this site by accident after a disaster booking at another site.
The staff on the phone were very helpful and gave great direction to the site.
On arrival we were told to find a space and put up our tent, the views are stunning and the walks for the dog are excellent.
Very clean toilet blocks and plenty of showers never found ourselves needing to queue and they were free!
Loved the fact it was quiet, shop stocked essentials which were reasonably priced
We had one meal at the pub at the end of the road which was handy but wouldn't go every night as prices reflected the fact it was well located!
Very impressed was a little more expensive than some sites in the area but definitely worth the price for the views alone, we will definitely be returning in 2012

A great campsite, plenty of space and very family and kid friendly, great views and very clean toilet and showers
It is a sloping site but there are quite a few parts that are flat, its your choice, plenty of hedges for shelter/shade - can be a bit exposed when windy, but that comes with the views
Toilets/showers are very clean (obviously get messy when busy as some people just leave a mess), but is cleaned regularly and is excellent
Shop is good has most basic things, could do with being open a bit later to 8 instead of 6, just need to be aware
Has no EHU which is a real shame as that would make this a perfect site - we stayed for 14 nights. And loved it, although the good weather does help
The local pub Smugglers Inn, is great, expensive and small portions but good beer lol
Local beach is rock pools but plenty of others with sandy beaches available by car or foot
Someone said expensive, well you tend to get what you pay for, the other 'cheaper' sites are crowded and noisy, not ideal with young kids when people are noisy at night, indeed perhaps by having no EHU it encourages people to not stay up so late drinking????
My only moan was people arriving late, by late I mean after 11pm and putting up tents in the dark with car engines running for lights, banging etc. Etc.
But a great easy site - kids loved it

I can't say we had the most welcoming of greetings on arrival, and although we had been told in the letter that we could choose a pitch etc, there was no conversation or direction on arrival - but we all have off days, and following our stay, that can be easily forgiven!
The site is huge, and no pre-determined pitches mean that you can choose where you stay. A lot of the site is sloping, but there are plenty of flat spots and the field is divided by hedges and trees, so you don't feel that you are on a massive site. The top of the site is probably the slopiest and windyist - but also the quietest!
The location is absolutely beautiful, hills and countryside one side, and the sea right in front of you. The site is well kept and there is loads of room for everyone. The toilets and showers are well kept, and there is plenty of hot water.
There is a bus service at the end of the road (about 1/4 mile) into Weymouth and Monkey World, or it is a short drive. Doncaster has an amazing park and ride - pay £1 for a car to park, and all the passengers ride in and out on the bus! There are so many things to see and do, I think we will be returning.
The Smugglers Inn is a busy family friendly pub, we didn't try the food as we loved sitting in the campsite dining al fresco in the evening, but it looked good, with fairly reasonable prices.
All in all a really enjoyable stay and would thouroughly recommend.

We have just returned from an 8 night stay. (2 adults, 2 children age 8&4). We all loved our stay.
We used the top field, for couples and families only and I would say this was a good choice as there were some large groups further down. But to be fair things were very quiet by 10. 30pm.
The facilities are good and clean and the shop is well stocked. It was very busy over the weekend and still hardly any waiting for showers( nice & hot).
Staff were very nice, on site warden is a +. Quite a lot of pitches are sloping. Good shelter from hedges and well positioned lines of trees as it is a bit exposed the higher up you camp. But overall the wind is not a problem as it can be on the south coast. As it is a large site there is plenty of room for children to play and meet lots of other children.
The only small point I would say to watch out for is that there is a lot of car movement as the road runs right through the middle of the site. Maybe a couple of speed bumps would help?
Overall we would all recommend this site and definitely visit again. We had a great holiday, many thanks. The smugglers Inn just below the site on the way to the beach is really good as well.

We have recently come back from a 3 night stay at Rosewall. We found this campsite to be great value as we have a large tent and many campsites wanted to charge a supplement or charge for 2 pitches. There are no set pitches and when you check in you are advised to drive around and choose your pitch. The site is on a slight incline but we easily found a flat pitch behind a row of trees that helped shelter from the ever blowing wind, which is expected due to the proximity of the coast.
There is plenty of space on this campsite for the children to play where you can see them and mine made friends straight away. There is a small modern play area with a slide, swings and climbing frame.
There are 2 toilet blocks, one at the top and one at the bottom of the site. Both were clean and well kept. The showers on the top block are larger and have a shower curtain and bench to put your clothes and towel on whereas the showers on the bottom block are just a shower so you have to hang your bits over the door to keep them from getting wet.
We never had to queue for a shower, there are electric points by the sinks ideal for hair straighteners or dryers. At the front and back of the bottom block are washing up facilities that are undercover and a laundry room.
There are plenty of bins on site that get emptied daily and fresh water points. There is a small shop on site that gets daily deliveries from a baker with fresh bread, rolls and croissants. They sell all your camping essentials and basics you need for a stay away including drinks, sausages etc.
From the bottom of the site you can walk to the local pub which is always busy and has a lovely play area for the children and you can walk along the coastal path in the other direction to Weymouth which is about 4 miles away.
There is a small Spar and Co-Op 5 minutes drive away or a large Co-Op about 8 minutes away in a small shopping area that also has a chip shop, newsagent and Chinese takeaway. A further 3 minutes away is a large Morrisons.
Weymouth is a short drive away and there is Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove 20 minutes in the other direction.
All in all a lovely campsite and we will return again!
