Just got back from 5 nights camping at Rosewell and have to say we were more than happy with our trip. The site is in the most beautiful surroundings with an amazing view down to the sea.
The site is on a hill, but there are plenty of flattish areas to pitch your tent. The toilets and showers were one of the best I have come across on a campsite, with 5 toilets and 9 showers in the top block, (never got to see the bottom block).
Plenty of washing up stations as well. Being a Bank Holiday it was extremely busy, but never had to queue for a shower once. The site shop is very handy stocking most things you may of forgotten, a little over priced but is to be expected when you are in the middle of no where.
There is a 20ft rule for camping, which was fine until we came back from a trip out to find someone had decided to pitch so close our guy ropes were crossing! I asked them to move reminding them of the 20ft rule, to which they replied they knew nothing about it, but they did move up a bit. I did ask at reception to make sure I got the rule right, which I had, and they did offer to go ask them to move, but I felt it would only cause friction so said I was happy to leave it as it was. The staff are happy to assist if you are not happy with a fellow camper.
There is a gorgeous pub at the bottom of the road, The Smugglers Inn, beautiful surroundings, lovely atmosphere, food is a bit pricey but worth it just for the view etc.
Lots to do in the area, went Zorbing, Paintballing, Monkey World, Dry Ski Slopes etc.
I have nothing but praise for the campsite and the staff. My only one niggle was that at 10. 30ish I went to go to the loo only to be told it was closed for cleaning and that I would have to walk to the bottom of the park to the facilities down there. The rest of the staff were extremely helpful, kind, approachable, and nothing was too much trouble.
I will definitely be returning for another visit, maybe even go back next month as we had such a good time.

Stayed there for 2 nights booked for 3 on bank holiday weekend real nice site all showers, pitch were great. Only downside was had 2 tents pitch right on our guideropes and made noise half the night drinking/making noise round a fire, not funny if you've got young kids. So went home Sunday night not Monday which was a shame. Think owners could of done more to help us. They did tell them to keep noise down but next night was no different. Not sure if I would go back after that.

This is a large site situated just a few minutes walk from the cliffs at Osmington where there are stunning views over Portland. Part of the site is quite hilly but there are no marked pitches so it is easy enough to find a flat spot.
We visited on a summer weekend so the site was extremely busy but there was still plenty of space between tents and the atmosphere was friendly and generally not too noisy.
The bathroom facilities are extremely good and were kept clean and we never had to queue, despite the site being almost full.
There is a lovely pub on the cliff-top just a couple of minute's walk from the site although beware, it will be very busy in the summer.
The reception has a proper little shop supplying a good range of food, equipment and daily papers too.
We loved the site and will definitely go back.

A very good campsite in a beautiful location. We like well kept, quiet sites in beautiful places with plenty of space - this one ticked all the boxes.
It is a friendly, family run, site; very clean and tidy. There are two toilet blocks with good showers, shaving points and electric points for hairdryers also plenty of outdoor washing up sinks, some under cover. There is a laundry room with two machines and two dryers in the lower, more modern, toilet block.
There is a well stocked on-site shop and high street supermarkets are only a short drive away. Horse riding and fishing are available as optional extras.
The site is on a south facing hillside and the majority of pitches are sloping but this was not a problem for us and there are plenty of flat areas too.
Where we pitched our old fashioned canvas frame tent the compacted sandy soil was dry and firm which made for easy pegging. Towards the end of our visit the weather deteriorated with rain and high winds which buffeted our tent (and us) but didn't cause problems for our pitch. For less robust tents (or campers) there are many hedges on site which give good shelter.
An excellent site to use as a base from which to explore Dorset and the Isle of Purbeck either by car or on foot. We will definitely be back.

Nice site if not a little exposed. Smugglers
Cove in is just 2minutes away and is excellent, the food was great the staff were pleasant and the pub is just gorgeous. The beach is not great though.
Unfortunately though it cost us £22 to stay for the night, when you take into account there was no electric we basically paid to stay in some farmers field for £22 - if we had not arrived so late I would have moved on to another site.
There were only a few other tents booked in and there's no wonder at these prices. Wake up all you robbing farmers, charge half the price and get four times as many clients
Every other site we visited was booked to the max so the business was there for the right priced sites
What a shame as we would have stayed longer

We visited this site for just one night and liked it very much. The site is on a slope but very spacious and well kept. We had two small tents and one 4x4 which we parked on the pitch.
The view down to the sea was lovely and as the weather was really good, it was comfortable to sit outside. BBQ's are permitted so long as they are off the ground.
There is a lovely looking pub at the bottom of the hill by the sea, called Smugglers Cove or similar. It looked very expensive and had a long waiting time. We went to a nearby carvery which was extremely nice. Definitely would visit again.

We had 4 nights here over the half term break.
Decided on this site after reading the reviews on here.
Arrived on the Wednesday and found a nice level pitch. I found the ground fine and we were in the bottom field no problems with pegs.
Toilets and showers are great and showers were hot, washing up facilities were good.
The Shop was fine with reasonable priced basics.
Play area for children looked ok but my 5 year old preferred playing near our tent.
The Smugglers pub was nice and the food was good as we ate there on the final night.
The route to the rock and pebble beach is around the back of the pub.
You can go down from the car park but its quite steep and if wet will be slippery. Our kids loved searching the rock pools for crabs, starfish etc.
It takes less than 10 mins to walk from the bottom field.
There are some nice walks and the site is dog friendly.
As long as you don't want a nearby sandy beach this is a fantastic site for short breaks.

We visited this site for the first time for a three night stay over the end of May bank-holiday weekend. Staff are very friendly, and the shop has all the basics.
The site does have a fairly steep slope to it, but there are plenty of level pitches to be had, and the view of the sea from the top end of the field is great.
It was very windy when we went, but if you get there early there are plenty of fairly sheltered pitches available by the hedgerows that split the field in 4.
There is a large hill to the east, and judging by the angle of the sun on our first night (the last time we saw it) it might be fairly late in the morning before the sun pops it's head over the top, especially early / late season. On the other hand, I imagine the sunsets would be lovely.
It has been mentioned a few times here that the ground is quite hard, but I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned more - perhaps there are just a few hard patches - but if you plan on staying here, make sure you have plenty of rock pegs and a heavy mallet (I used a 3lb ball-pein hammer and it was perfect).
The shower blocks are clean and tidy, I only used the bottom newer one, but my Wife said the top one was clean if looking a bit tired. No shortage of hot water, and there are sockets for the hair dryer!
The washing-up sinks were just too low for me (I'm 6'), but I was told as we were packing up that the ones on the other side of the lower block were higher. I couldn't find a CDP, although the key says it has one. In the end, we just didn't bother with any chemicals in the Porta Potti, I have a strict No Solids rule anyway!
No EHU, so not too much noise.
There's a small play area that was constantly packed with kids, and is more suited to younger ones. The site seems very family friendy, and they do state that they don't accept groups - there were loads of children when we stayed - two of them ours.
They have pony rides which look great, unfortunately we didn't have time for that though.
The Smugglers Inn is a 10min walk down the hill, and it seems pleasant enough - we didn't eat there though. The coastal path goes right through the pub garden, and the rocky beach is 500yds away down some steep steps.
We will definitely be going there again, although we will also investigate the £13 a night site up the road!

Three glorious nights over the Easter Weekend confirmed our love of Dorset.
The site is situated in a fantastic location with views across Weymouth bay and the South West Coast Path is to be found at the bottom of the site.
As already mentioned by others the site is sloped and it is difficult to find a level spot but this does mean you get good views from most positions.
The facilities were excellent, we only used the top block due to our location and found them to be clean and in good order all weekend despite it being busy.
Also the shop was well stocked and had everything we wanted, including fresh bread and bacon! We walked to the Smugglers Inn each evening for pint and ate here on the Sunday evening. The beer and cider was well kept and the food was good although I would say on the expensive side.
We had a day in Lulworth Cove and walked over the cliff to Durdle Door, that tired the kids out! We also visited the lovely town of Wareham and went on a boat trip along the river.
The weather obviously made the weekend but we will definitely be back here again.

I recommend this site, no ehu. Pub, smugglers, 10 minutes walk from the bottom of the site, car park is £5 redeemable from the pub. Is good £2.50 for a bowl of chips £8.50 for fish and chips.
The sunray pub is in osmington 10 minutes from the top of the site with a huge carpark, £10.50 for fish and chips.
Beach accessible from smugglers
Campsite is on a steep hill. Views of the sea are limited and the wind can be a problem.
Staff great. Facilities great.
We saw a deer grazing in our field last night.
