Just returned from a weekend here, shame the weather turned wet as had glorious sunshine for 2 days!
I will definitely be back though as the owners & wardens were very friendly and the 2 toilet/shower blocks were excellent, never queued at all even though the site was very busy Friday & Saturday nights.
There was very little the reception shop didn't stock at reasonable campsite shop prices. Ice blocks available £1 deposit per block & 20p hire charge - again reasonably priced.
Perfect location for access to the South West coast path and a lovely pub, the Smugglers Inn only 5 minutes walk from the campsite. Didn't eat at the pub, but ideal to sit with a cold pint after a coast path walk in the sun!
As a solo camper I get very frustrated at paying a fixed price pitch fee. Here solo campers pay £10 per night - Rosewall I salute you for your fairness to us lone campers :-)
As mentioned in previous reviews the whole site is on a hill/slope - beautiful views higher up, but very windy. I managed to get a spot in the middle area, by a hedge for shelter, gorgeous view of the sea & the slope was manageable. You can pitch anywhere and fortunately I didn't get anyone pitching on top of me - always a fear on returning to pitch after being out for the day!
There is no wifi at this campsite and only an intermittent O2 phone signal, though there is free wifi at the Smugglers Inn and I also got a 3G signal on the coast path. Perfect for checking the weather forecast.
It's difficult for a campsite to get everything spot on for every campers needs, but for me I couldn't fault a thing - 10/10 - I can't wait to return to Rosewall and to explore more of this beautiful coastline.

Exzellent service and location.
Open area, some interesting events e. G. The pizza box, with pizza on the evening and crepe in the morning.
A hard-working warden who helps us every time he can with advise and a helping hand - THANK YOU
Unfortunately at our visit, many guests (children and adults) have been very loud at night.

We started camping last August and Rosewall was the chosen campsite to cut our teeth on.
We went there twice in August 2014 (so a little late in reviewing).
Well, what can we say that hasn't already been said?
Views are fab, site is over 3 fields. Toilet block in bottom field and top, near the reception and shop both with washing up facilities.
We only used the top ones as we pitched in the top field for both our stays. These were kept spotlessly clean throughout, even when it was wet and windy.
The shop was well stocked and very reasonable.
We managed to get our keys locked in the car and Rosewall staff were more than helpful, letting us use their telephone and also coming out to update us when the recovery company called back. They were friendly at all times.
Local area is lovely and we love Weymouth. 10 minute walk from the campsite is the Smugglers Inn pub, we found the food a bit bland to be honest but the cider was good!
There is a children's play area next to the middle field.
There is no EHU at Rosewall but that will not stop us returning there again.

My wife and I, stayed at this site from the 11th of July for 10 nights, also camped here last year, you enter the site on an up hill drive, on entering on a bright day as we did, you have excellent views out to sea. The shop/office is a few yards down the hill on the left hand side, we booked on arrival with no problems, the shop sells all essentials, including gas, fresh bread rolls and croissants daily, and the milk is from the dairy just over the next hill, (the dairy also sell ice cream and cream teas from their own shop). There is also a children's play area on the left hand side. Although the site is mainly on a hillside there are plenty of pitches available. By the shop there is a small toilet block and at the bottom of the hill, a larger block, which houses toilets, showers, vanity areas, two dish wash areas, and a laundry room. These areas and the whole site are kept in excellent condition, by Dave and Karen the resident wardens, who seem to be working from dawn to midnight, cleaning, repairing, litter picking, and making sure at 11 pm everybody should be able to get a nights sleep, not strict, just keep noise levels down, as respect to other campers. They are a credit to the owners, and every campsite should have a Dave and Karen. At the bottom of the site is the Dorset coastal footpath, to the right Weymouth and to the left Minstead, Durdle Door, and Lulworth Cove. If you access the lane, from the bottom of the site and walk a couple of hundred yards to the sea, you have the Smugglers Inn, with good food all day and evening, and a good selection of wines and beer. The sea shore here is rocky, but good for crabbing. As the campsite name implies, they also own riding stables by the entrance and fishing lakes in the valley behind.
Back down the lane to the main road, left, a few minutes is Craigs Dairy for ice cream, and Weymouth about 15 minutes drive, for the town and beaches. Right, Durdle Door and Lulworth about 20 minutes or so, and Bournemouth about 55 minutes. A good site with plenty to explore around you.

Love this site. If you want bags of space, non regimented camping with a sea view, you have found it. We booked based on the great reviews this site gets on lots of websites and we were not disappointed. If you want to stay in a site with defined pitches and electricity then this site is not for you. If you want a more relaxed chilled break then this site is great. You turn up and choose where you want to pitch. The camping fields are on a hill if you pitch near the hedges you get a relatively flat pitch and shelter. Two good toilet and shower blocks. Top Tip - the showers in the top toilet block are bigger. Great clean facilities and well stocked small shop. You can hire ice blocks from the shop for 20p. 10 minute drive to Weymouth, 20 minute drive from Lulworth Cove.

Just returned from a weekend at Rosewall. Overall we had a good weekend stay there. The site is very open with plenty of space. There is a shop on site and there are two toilet blocks. One of the toilet blocks is better than the other. There is also pot washing facilities. The lady in the shop was very friendly and the male warden we saw was also friendly. The bottom fields had the view of the sea but by Saturday morning this area was rammed full. We opted for one of the top fields which was a lot quieter, mainly due to the fact that it was so uneven in the middle it is practically impossible to pitch there. People tended to pitch around the outside of the field.
The pub was in easy walking distance and allows dogs. It does however get very busy, especially on a Saturday night and we waited almost an hour for a pint of beer and our deserts!
The South West Coast Path is immediately accessible from the site. It is a stunning walk along the coast and a walkers dream.
The costs were reasonable but they charged us £4 a night for our 2 tiny dogs yet there are no walking/other facilities for dogs! In fact they have to be walked off site.
Gripes:
*Their website states 'Families and couples only — no single sex parties, groups of mixed couples or unaccompanied groups of young persons are accepted. ' However, there were a number of very large groups there and mixed couples which meant that there was a lot of noise and music throughout the day and night. Don't put this statement on your website if it is not your policy, as it is misleading to campers that don't want to share their holiday with big groups of people.
*On the website dogs are asked to be kept on leads yet we saw a number of dogs off lead. One even ran straight into our awning and started to bother our dog. There were also quite a few dogs that were allowed to bark for long periods of time.
*At about 10pm on our second night, a group pitched up right next to us (their tent was about 1. 5 metres away from our campervan). This is clearly too close and breaks all Health and Safety rules but they were not asked to moved by the wardens. We didn't bother asking them to move as we were going the next morning. The site could do with the wardens walking round at night enforcing the site rules to camping distances, noise etc.
Good points:
Amazing views
Amazing area
Perfect for walking
Well kept site
Friendly staff
Imagine it would be much better midweek during term time
Overall, we would go back if we were in the area as it is a lovely site but we would go when it is not so busy.

Just returned from a 3 night break over the bank holiday. I can only repeat what has already been said, the site is in a fantastic location with amazing views, despite it being full we still found somewhere relatively flat to pitch.
Facilities are all well kept, although as its busy the showers etc can get untidy (from unsupervised children more than likely) and I did have one shower that wasn't very warm, apart from that the weekend was lovely and we made the most of the pub down the road.
Definitely keep this site electric free so we can continue to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We'll be back!

Just had 3 nights stay at this wonderful site. The site is on a hill overlooking the sea. You can pitch where you like and can find plenty of sheltered spots although hardly any wind whilst we were there. There is no EHU on site which makes it very peaceful. Plenty of space between tents not like some of the sites we passed. Can only echo the previous comments on the facilities as very good and kept very clean. Two large toilet/shower blocks with at least 4 free showers in each. And outside washing the pots with a sea view make it very therapeutic! Very adequate shop with all the essentials and ice blocks can be hired and phones can be charged. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We did use the Smugglers Inn and it can get very busy so book if you want to eat. A tad expensive but the food was lovely.
A visit to Durdle Door is a must. We parked at Lulworth Cove(£4. 00 for 4 hrs). It is quite a trek up the hill but the coastline is stunning. There is a campsite above Durdle Door which would be easier for the kids to walk down.
You would need to use your car as apart from the pub, there's not a lot in walking distance. We loved the rocky coastline but not for all. Weymouth is only 5 minutes away and enjoyed a trip to the Nothe Fort. Had the added luxury of the Weymouth Carnival whilst we were there and sitting on the beach with the Red Arrows performing above was amazing. Would definitely use this site again. Please keep it EHU free as TV's should be left at home!

Stayed for one night only but we liked this site. The toilet and shower facilities are clean and modern. Pub within walking distance, although a slight hill to walk back up to the site. We were told we could pitch anywhere. Grass is kept nice and short. If we were visiting the Dorset area then this site is well situated for most surrounding attractions. Very nice view of the coast line. We will most probably come back next year if we decide to stay in Dorset.

Wanted to get away again before school started and this campsite grabbed us because we saw it walking from Eweleaze (see other review) and looked to be more what we wanted.
Site was well laid out over what must have been 4 or 5 old fields with some of the hedges left in place providing some cover from the elements (although not an issue on our few days).
Showers/loos/dish washing facilities all good - two blocks at either end of site so never much of a walk (although some people still drove!). Site is next to footpath and only a short walk to the 'beach' and Smugglers Inn (busy, food OK but not too special, some nice real ales though).
The beach is not really much of a beach although there is a small one to the west but despite that our children loved it as the rock-pools were fabulous with interesting weeds, anemones, fish, crabs and whelks etc. Promising fishing spot as well - saw someone catch two bass from the rocks in the space of 5 minutes (from starting).
Back to the campsite - staff seemed fine and the shop was adequate with some essentials and gas etc. Seemed reasonable value for the rate - I guess it might get a bit crammed in the height of summer at capacity but seemed roomy enough in early September.
One gripe - if a campsite says it does not take groups then you would sort of reasonably expect it to not take them. Groups are invariably the source of noise later one in the day and there was some here from two groups on the site.
Overall a good campsite in a great location and we would go back.
