1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, ... We love this site!
First off, I do agree with the other reviews that the facilities are basic, its on a bit of a slope and it can be very windy (I've seen a lot of flattened tents here!).
On the other hand its possibly the most beautiful location I've ever seen. If you can get near the edge of the field, opening your tent and sipping a cup of tea watching the morning sunshine over the bay is the highlight of the holiday. If you can drag yourself away from the tent, take a strole along the beach before anyone else gets there. Wonderful!
Don't forget to book - its one of the first campsites you come across as you drive along the coast so its gets full on sunny weekends.

Aug 2002 Amazing location - at the top of the cliff with steep walk down to bay, ruined castle on the headland, acres of sand, blackberries, wonderful view from the tent, rockpools... Facilities were basic but clean & OK - shop, showers etc. Camping field is pretty steep and very exposed to wind. Carefully patrolled by the warden. A fine site, especailly if you like your camping wiht a touch of the wild.

june 2003 Dogs have to be on a lead or tethered at all times in the campsite. Children are not allowed to play outside on the tarmac by the toilet block. You are told where to set up camp. I know campsites have to have rules, but these seemed ridiculous, I felt as if I was back at school. There were several wardens patroling the site all day and one of them spoke to me like I was a school child (which I am not I might add) The shop was quite expensive, they sold portable BBQ packs, but you must remember not to scorch the grass (pity they don't provide you with a cooking stone to place it on) and you had to, not only pay to pitch your tent, but also pay for hot shower & washing up water, which we thought was a little OTT as it was pricey just to pitch a tent!
The showers & toilets were clean I'll praise them on this, although only 3 showers for a rather large camping & caravaning site, so expect queues. Lovely camping field if you're at the top with a sea view or even if you're placed by the hedge at the bottom of the field like we were, although there is the main access lane behind the hedge, which is noisy with the vehicles coming & going. The beach was absolutely gorgeous, it was a quite a steep climb down to it from the campsite, but once there, it was as if all restrictions were lifted!
