We too can only voice the same as a lot of the other reviews. This site certainly has the wow factor! As also said before, the access to it can be quite a challenge! Just take it really slow and be aware that you may meet someone coming the other way.
If you are looking for a busy site with loads of amenities and shops, then this is not the place for you however, if you love being in beautiful scenery, walks through gorgeous countryside and the ability to have a real fire by your unit, then this is somewhere you should not miss.
Whilst there is nothing there specifically for children, we felt that it let kids be kids again and make their own entertainment in the outdoors with loads of water to play in.Doesn't get much better to be honest!
The owner, Aled and his family have worked so hard to make the site welcoming and would certainly go that extra mile to make your stay even more perfect.
We were there at the beginning of April and had amazing weather. Aled did say that it can get a bit soggy if it rains but that is certainly not something that would put us off going. The shower blocks are very new and although there are only three, they didn't get busy while we were there, perhaps because we were showered quite early but even if you did have to wait, the views are certainly going to be an amazing distraction.
We certainly hope that this site stays as it is and we will definitely be going back again and again (in fact we are packing up to go this weekend as we loved it so much and still have so much exploring to do)

What a beautiful site, set amongst the hills and river,
Basic as regards no little shop but the site and the owner more than made up for that,
I didn't want to come home, despite having taken a wrong turning, and scratching my caravan along a slate wall, however when we finally got down to the point at were we should be, for a touring caravan you do have to approach with great caution, as at times the single road can be quite busy, and I found it a bit of an ordeal pulling a caravan.
However that being said, the site is well worth the 10 mins or so ordeal to the pitch,
Aled can be seen as can his son pottering around the site, many thanks to his little boy for helping us be moved from the soggy ground,.
I would visit this site time and time again,
This site is definitely a must for a lovely relaxing weekend walking or just lazing around.

Just got back from 5 nights here in the great British weather!
The field was very muddy but I guess it would be the same everywhere. I believe a road is going down for next year so getting the car on & off the field won't be a problem.
Despite the mud, the shower & toilet block we kept clean - very impressive considering the amount of mud.
The kids had an absolute ball exploring - we hardly saw them - they loved trudging through the mud.
The camp fires are a great idea.
We will definitely be back next year!

Lovely site will definitely be going back, the only thing that I think needs a little attention is a better cleaning regime on the toilet block, there was things left on toilet windows that was there when I first went and still there when I left, and toilets left without paper for 2 days and not properly cleaned when an attempt was made, but don`t let this put you off, The whole area is absolutely beautiful well worth paying a visit, just be careful of the narrow lane to get to the campsite.

WOW what a great lay back site! have just got home from camping here and we had a fab time did leave a bit early as weather was a wash out!
Met some great new friends while sitting out by the camp fire at night.
Only cons I have are: it's a shame can't by milk and bits on site but owner was lovely gave me enough to have a cupper on arriving at site also more paths are needed as quite muddy to toilet/shower block after rain
Would love to visit this site again, so would the kids as they loved playing in river.

Beautiful! Loads of space, friendly people, paddling river, campfires and grassy pitches. We used the hook-up field which was full to 3/4 capacity. The entrance to the field got muddy but Aled said he was going to put chippings down soon. The toilet block is nice but needs a vanity area for morning ablutions etc. Wonderful forest and waterfall walks await but beware! Please stick to the footpaths, at the edge of the waterfalls there is a mighty drop. We are going back 2010, can't wait.

All I can say is after travelling around the UK for 6 weeks camping is this has got to be the top camping spot.
PROs
-not too busy
-REAL campfire (yes you build your campfire spot with rocks on the ground get your wood from Aled and you're ready to enjoy a beautiful evening campfire)
-New facilities (3 showers, unisex, and 2 men's stalls plus urinals)
-Dishwashing facilities with hot water (brand new)
-A family who love their campsite and take care of it with beautiful walks and waterfalls
CONs
-Not one (just the people who decided to pitch beside us on our last night even though the field was fairly empty)
To me, this is what I consider camping. We didn't camp by the river as we knew it would get busy there but a lovely spot a bit away. There are really nice walks and you can even take a dip in the fresh water (we didn't as being a Californian the water in the UK is just too cold for me).
There are a couple of pubs not far away. We walked there but took a taxi back (yes there is a taxi in the village) as it is quite a walk.
10 out of 10 for me. Aled, if you're reading, can you put a shelf or two in the men's toilet area for putting shaving kits? :)

We went here at the weekend when the weathermen said it was going to rain all the time. We are a family of 6, 2 adults, my son 8 years old, the twins 3 years old and my youngest only 1 and we had a great time and the sun shone. We were in a campervan and tent which was fine.Great to have a fire. The children played for hours in the shallow part of the river.Just like when I was a child many moons ago. This is the most relaxing site I've ever been to. Although I did think it was a little expensive being £ 26 a night but the facilities are very good. Make sure you take plenty of food as the shops are miles away down a single track. On the whole I love it there. And there was no pressure to leave your pitch the day we were leaving.

We have just returned from a wonderful weeks camping despite the elements being against us. The campsite is in a beautiful location and very clean and althought quite noisy at the weekends was very very quiet during the week. The open fires were a great idea although we were only back in time to light two the kids thought it great fun. We paddled and swam! in the river and the swing was used by all of us with great enjoyment.
The toilets and showers were clean and warm and the card system worked very efficiently.
For families with youngish children this is an ideal base with lots of walks, beaches, castles within easy reach. The furthest we had to venture was Criccieth (fantastic cafe by the sea) to the north and Barmouth to the South (fantastic crabbing) as everything we needed was close by.
The owner and his family were extremely helpful and friendly and I would recommend the site to anyone, young or old, singles or families.
The one mystery I do want to solve is how the huge great motor home managed to arrive during Friday considering the narrow lanes and mad local drivers.

I have been coming to this much loved site for the best part of 36 years and I still love it as much now as I did then. Over the years it has not changed much, maybe the trees have grown a bit and the river has extended itself and now separates in to one big river and a little stream to the side, (great for smaller children).
This site is a classic example of mother natures creation with a little help from the lovely Jones family who have owned it for ever.
This year loo's and showers were opened, and with excellent facilities like these, the stay just gets better. There is now water on site which for me is great as we used to have to go up to the farm house to collect it when I was young.
This site is a must for all the family, mums can relax whilst the dads get handy doing the manly jobs like collecting fallen kindling and building the fire, and the kids can play in the river and streams.
