August 2005 We stayed at this site during the Edinburgh Festival so it was very busy with most pitches fully booked. Despite this it was still very peaceful and well organised. The staff were very efficient and helpful giving good directions to pitches with easy to follow maps and details of buses into town etc. Toilet facilities were good but could be a little stretched at times with so many people on site, and the nearest block to us had a toilet, shower and sink all in the same cubicle. This seemed a bit odd as people who just wanted the loo would have to queue while they waited for others to finish in the showers. The only way to avoid this was to get up very early or walk to another block. Having said that, everything was very clean and I'm sure it would not be so much of a problem at quieter times in the season. All in all this is a well planned large site in lovely countryside that is only ten minutes from the city centre.

August 2005 A bit pricey for us but unbeatable in terms of being so close to city centre! Loads of facilities (toilets, showers, washing up, etc) and always clean and hot. Busy and usually packed site though so don't expect seclusion at all. Quiet at night. Is right on a frequent and quick (20 min)bus route direct into city center which again makes the site a budget winner if you want to spend an evening in town without hassle of car.

May 2005 Stayed at this site for Whit bank holiday and it was amazing!!! Super quiet at night even though very busy (lots of European travellers). Superb location for Edingburgh city centre (25Mins on bus) bust stop just outside campsite every 20 mins. Area surrunding site very secenic, staff very friendly, well stocked shop, toilets/showers a bit dated but always immaculate so not a compalint really... would love to return and would definately recommend.

August 2003 We visited this site at the weekend and had a really lovely time. Although it was very busy it was lovely and peaceful and the facilities are excellent, with a shop and pub that serves food. The only problems we had during our stay were that the water pressure in one of the toilet blocks wasn't very good and and the ground was a bit hard - our fault, we should have brought a hammer!
There is a regular and very convenient bus service into Edinburgh that goes from outside the entrance to the site.
What really made our weekend though was the very friendly and helpful staff - I lost a watch with enormous sentimental value on our last night and was reallly gutted. I asked the staff at reception if they'd let me know if it was found and I got it back by recorded delivery this morning (thank you!!!). Thoroughly recommended.

June 2003 hello all, just thought i'd let you all know about a really nice site we visited at the week-end, Mortonhall in Edinburgh , situated just five miles outside Edinburgh centre it is ideally placed far enough away from the city, but close enough to get to without any problems, the site is gently sloping with more than ample room between pitches, clean and tidy toilets and really good elsan disposal point. There is three toilet blocks, one at the top of the field doubles as unisex showers , with individual cubicals containing a shower, toilet, sink and mirror and more than enough room for two!!! but unfortunately no bins in the cubicals. The block in the middle is split into male and female, both with showers. The third is connected to the main building where there is a laundry and campers kitchen, there is also a pretty cool area in the middle of the field for washing up, a circular bandstand type of thing with sinks in the middle ( difficult to explain ) .The bar is nice and friendly with plenty of wines and beers to keep most happy, the menu looked great although unfortunately we didn't have time to try any but we will be back !There is a lovely wee childrens play area with all the usual stuff for the kiddies, and some great walks round the park which again time limited us to a small sample but as mentioned will definately be going back to enjoy the countryside and the park. The staff at reception could't have been more helpfull with a most useful map of the park , containing bus routes to town prices etc. and a guide to Edinburgh itself issued to you on arrival. My only gripe is not infact to do with the park, but the Edinburgh bus service and taxi drivers. The last bus from the city leaves at 11.10pm and if you miss it good luck trying to flag down a taxi ! they seem reluctant to stop for anyone unless they are at a rank, even then they refused business ! but ah c'est la vie.Anyway i digress........ Mortonhall ! definately worth a visit if you are planning a visit to sunny Scotland. Enjoy

June 2003 Lovely site that is well looked after and picturesque.
Very central to the city of Edinburgh and takes around 5 mins to the centre by car. However there is a regular bus service that runs from the site itself.
The shower facilities are of a good standard and there are several blocks dotted around the site.
Plenty of play areas for children too.
Never got to the bar or restaurant but it looked nice from the outside. I would definately recommend this site.

Sept 92 First visited this site in 1979, and again on several occasions up until the mid 90s. Probably the best site we ever stayed at -- really clean with level, numbered pitches. Toilet/showers "squeaky clean". Be interested to read an up-to-date review.
