Stayed for 2 nights to take a break from the busy town where we live and to do a little exploring. We were greeted upon arrival by a friendly and helpful chap who got us parked up, booked in and paid for straight away. The site was immaculately clean and tidy and the toilet and shower blocks were about the best I have ever seen! Spotless, warm and with everything you need, even a bath!
Plenty of space for camping with a family site and adults only site each side of the facilities and within easy reach of some great attractions and lovely villages, not to mention Bury St Edmunds just round the corner. We chose to visit the English Whiskey company and have a tour - well worth a visit!
I cannot fault this site - the only thing I would say (as have others), is that the noise from the A14 and the road next to the campsite is constant - albeit not incredibly loud, enough to disrupt the peace and quiet from time to time. It rained whilst we were there and that increased the noise levels slightly. Don't let this put you off though as it's a brilliant base for touring!
Highly recommended!

Best wishes to Dawn and Andrew on your move. Always a joy going to your wonderful campsite. Pitches are flat and well drained, Dawn and Andrew are a joy, always helpful and, most importantly, the toilets and showers are immaculate. You really are going to be a hard act to follow.

We liked this site from the very moment we arrived, unannounced and unbooked, at about 8. 30 pm and Andrew made us welcome, gave us a choice of pitches and all the information we could need that night. He couldn't have been more helpful in the morning too. Having said we didn't need a hook-up we ran out of gas, and so hooked up to electricity for an hour or so - for which he didn't charge us. Clean, flat, well kept, pleasant views, etc. , and everything worked! It felt quite spacious too, and it seemed that the pitches were large. Not only that, it was very good value for money, and showers were included.
But, having said all that, noise level is a very personal thing. We usually stay on certificated locations deep in the country, but were too late to reach one on this occasion. And by comparison with those, it was not what we could call quiet. Traffic noise was constant until quite late and from an early hour. So you have to balance your priorities, and if 'quiet' for you means little or no traffic noise, you have to weigh this against the otherwise generally outstanding qualities of the site

Once again returned to The Dell after last year when I put my back out and was unable to do anything. I must say this is a lovely site, noise from A14 very minimal despite what some say, you really do not notice it. The sight is very well run by Dawn & Andrew at the moment (They have sold it to new owners) who make you really welcome, new owners will have to have high standards to keep up with them. Diane & I wish them well in there retirement. Visited a few NT properties around the area. Very well situated. Wish both Andrew & Dawn a very happy retirement.
Diane & Colin (Hester).

Friendly welcome complete with apology for booking us onto a grass pitch in error, not a problem as we were in the middle of a heatwave!
Well laid out campsite in two separate areas one for families and the other adult only.
Showers etc very well maintained and regularly checked. Free WiFi on site
The A14 is very close by but not overly noisy, the road outside the site is busy currently due to roadworks elsewhere so walking not easy. If you turn left or right you will in a mile or so come to a pub, both good with decent cask beer available.
We understand that the owners have sold up and will be leaving or have already left, if the new owner maintains or improves the site it will remain on the list to return to as it is a lovely campsite.

Just got back from a 5 night stay at The Dell. It is a lovely, clean well kept site. We will be coming back. I am a light sleeper and road noise mentioned in other reviews had no effect me. I slept well. Everything is clean and tidy. Lovely toilets and showers. All nice and warm. Bus stops outside to Bury st Edmunds. Thurston Station 15 minutes walk away. Fox and Hounds pub in the village was great. Lovely real ales and dog friendly pub. Great site and owners. Thanks for a great stay.

We visited this site on the recommendation of friends, I must say the site is immaculately kept and the current owners are always on hand to help. We arrived on Wednesday and within 1/2 hour of setting up my back went, I suffer from a disc problem. Dawn (The owner) offered my wife the details off a Chiropractor that she uses, I made the appointment for the Friday. Each morning Dawn came to our unit to see if the was anything she could get or help with as my wife is also disabled. I must say that both Dawn and Andrew offered help all the time during our stay. The toilet block is always kept immaculate, there is also cloths to wipe down the sick units after use and also bottles of hand soaps provided. Unfortunately we were unable to visit the places we intend too, so we WILL be returning to this site to fulfil our visit. Would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone.

Very easy to get to.
A14 quiet on our visit but was told it depends on wind direction.
Side / access road not too busy but the cars are quite fast. No heavy lorrys but a number of tractors, vans etc.
Site nicely laid out pitches with plenty of space around you and very peaceful esp watching the hares is the fields.
Shower/ toilet block nice and clean ( one shower out of order on men's side ), water nice and warm.
Wardens very helpful and informative.
Wifi worked fine on normal Internet use, I didn't try streaming stuff.
There is a local bus into Bury St Edmunds from the site entrance, £3. 40 return for an adult. It took around 30 mins as it went into an estate or two.
Lovely site, would visit again

Really well run site, immaculately clean facilities, tidy, well kempt and above all spacious. I was a little unsure after reading comments about The Dells closeness to the A14 and only booked three nights but I needn't have worried and subsequently extended our stay by an extra couple of nights (and our pitch was just about as close as you could get to the A14 out of the whole site).
We didn't use the local pubs or shops but found the bus to Bury St. Edmunds (about 30 mins) a godsend. However there are two hours between buses after 09:30, so get up and get going!
We were also able to link up with a bus to Lavenham by getting off at Bury Hospital, crossing to the bus stop opposite and waiting approx. 5 minutes.
We really enjoyed our time at The Dell and the things to do locally (Bury, Lavenham, N. T. Properties and just a bit further, Flatford Mill of Constables 'The Haywaine' fame and would not hesitate to return.

It is with regret that I post this review as there is absolutely nothing the campsite owners can do to rectify the situation. This is a lovely site with fantastic facilities manned by two lovely wardens; you couldn't ask for more - except for the whole site to be moved. It is VERY close to the A14 and the road noise is horrendous - unrelenting at all hours. I read the other reviews on here before booking and took note of the fact there was some road noise but others suggested it wasn't too bad and you eventually learnt to 'tune it out'. Unfortunately, in my case, this was not possible. I am used to dealing with background noise all day as I work in a large, busy school and I also live close to a main road so I didn't think it would be a problem. I was wrong. However, we were under canvas so nothing much really to absorb the noise whereas other campers who were in caravans or motor homes said they didn't really notice it.
I wish it weren't so but feel I must be honest. Sorry.
