Our first trip of the year and needless to say the weather wasn't very kind but we have nothing but praise for the owners who helped us enormously after a disastrous start to the week and we owe them a big THANK YOU.
The site is pleasant and the toilet block immaculate, there is some distant road noise from the A14 but nothing excessive, its easy to get to literally 200 yards off the A14 coming East and is surrounded by countryside-nothing on site for kids that I could see(not having any)but I'm sure they'd enjoy the walks.
Entry is by swipe card with a £10 refundable deposit

Absolutely brilliant site.
We stayed for 4 nights towards the end of February. The weather was very kind but didn't seem to tempt too many other campers. The result was we virtually had our own private campsite!
The A14 road noise mentioned in other reviews is not vastly intrusive, no worse than wind through the trees. The owners are very laid back and extremely friendly.
The facilities are spotless and in excellent repair. There is a mix of hard standing and grass pitches, power is 10A per pitch.
If you fancy a trip into Bury St Edmunds, the site can give you directions which sneak you in via a back road to the long stay car park. Bury Saturday Market is well worth a visit.
To eat, try the Thurston Fox and Hounds. Amazing portions of very high quality food and CAMRA award winner several times over. In Bury try the Fox by the long-stay car park for a Sunday Roast and Harriet's Tearooms on the Market Place for Breakfast or Afternoon Tea.
We will definitely be back for a return visit.

We visited The Dell for 5 nights in January 2012. Andrew was very welcoming, helping to service the Motorhome and finding an excellent sheltered site.
The toilets, showers and laundry room were spotlessly clean at all times of the day and every day we were there. Warm too, much appreciated in the cold weather. There was some faint noise from the A14, but rather relaxing - sounding like a distant sea shore or breeze in the trees.
We would recommend the Fox and Hounds at Thurston and the 'Crumbs' sandwich bar opposite the pub. We ate in both, the food was excellent value for money and, again, the premises were spotlessly clean.
A significant bonus is the five dedicated motorhome parking places near the centre of Bury St Edmunds, close to the Abbey gardens and the historic centre of Bury. Andrew provided a map with sets of excellent instructions to the car park that avoids using the A14. Great location for walking and exploring 'High Suffolk' and we would not hesitate to stay there again

Great site being just off yhe A14 with immaculate toilets/shower facilities. As others have commented there is road noise although the noise from the A14 didn't bother me, the minor road adjacent the campsite was a bit of a nuisance but traffic died down overnight and most nights were quite peaceful.
Excellent site for visiting Bury with a bus(384) picking up and dropping off at the site entrance.
With the nearby minor road being quite busy and lack of pavement not ideal for walking/cycling although I walked to one of the nearby pubs(15 mins) The Bear Inn in Beyton which had a couple of nice real ales on and a nice garden.
There is also a pavement after the dual carriageway. Paid a reasonable £15/night for two with ehu.

This campsite is very well organised with some of the very best washing facilities seen on UK campsites. Spotlessly clean. All other site owners should visit this site to see the standard that should be provided at ALL UK campsites - there's no excuse for not having such facilities.
A nice level site which is very handily located for visiting the whole of East Anglia. Good spacing between all units.
Other reviewers say that there is noise from the nearby road but this is not intrusive.
This site is kept at a very high standard with rules for campers which maintains the high standard that the owner provides.

Stayed just for a couple of nights here to test our new tent.
Pitches were good, we pitched with electricity and the location we were in allowed us to go forward as much as we liked really, so our tent of 6m x 3m plus 2/3m of tent porch all fitted in easily.
Toilets and showers all top notch and very clean and washing up areas too.
Nice guests who were helpful, and a few handy leaflets given to us.
Location is great for Bury St Edmunds which is well worth a visit.

PRO'S:
- Good Price at £15 per night.
- Fantastic owner, very friendly and helpful
- Fridge & Freezer in the office to use free of charge
- Separate areas for family camping. Keeping the adult area nice and quiet.
- Spacious pitches
- Spotless facilities. The shower/toilet block was cleaner that some hotels I have stayed in! the washing-up facilities were spotless, everything was well laid-out, a neat and tidy campsite.
CON'S:
- Close to a busy dual carriageway - constant traffic noise, but if you can live with that, this is one of the best campsites ever.

A lovely site, with good facilities. The facilities include very clean toilets and showers, with washing rooms for dishes and clothes. Fridge and freezer facilities for use by the campers. A well stocked information facility in the reception and the site is well lit at night. Very friendly hosts, well positioned for touring the area.
Only draw back is the noise from the A14. The site is 300 yards from this main lorry route to Felixstowe so the noise is constant. During the day this is no real issue, but at night is does affect sleep.
Personal I will look for a quieter spot if staying for more that 2 nights.

We visited The Dell again his year-its our fifth time since June 2009. It is a fantastic site with excellent facilities and more than enough for all visitors.
The site owners Andrew and dawn are very accommodating and friendly, showing good memory of us from previous visits.
We especially like the fact that the site is split in two with families on one side and adults only on the other-a real bonus for those of us without children!
The site is close to Bury st Edmunds which is well worth a visit with its independent and mainstream shops and lovely abbey gardens.
We had people come and visit us for a BBQ one night and this was welcomed with no extra charge which we thought was great.
This is the best site we have visited yet, with excellent value for money for the standard of facilities that you get, and will definitely visit time and time again. We are already planning on going back in September;0)

Spent a week camping at the Dell. A beautiful little site with first class toilet and shower facilities, together with bath available for under 7s. Our two children loved it.
It is near to a road, so there is some traffic noise, bit certainly not excessive, and we were on a pitch close to the road. There was a mix up on our arrival as no record of our booking despite having sent a cheque.
This was sorted out very professionally by the extremely helpful owners(discovered on our return that our cheque had been returned by GPO because my wife forgot to put a stamp on it!). Bury is lovely, and Cambridge is very accessible and well worth a visit.
Highly recommend this site.
