The Dell is one of the top 10 sites we have visited. The facilities are excellent. Andrew and Dawn are very helpful and keep the site in great shape. We visited Ravenwood Hall Hotel, a very old house with a 500 year old cedar tree in the garden, just a 10 minute drive from the site. They have an al a carte menu and also a fixed price menu (3 choices of each course)for 19. 95pp. This was excellent value for money, good portions and beautifully cooked and presented. We also visited Lavenham village. This is in a time warp. The Elizabethan houses defy gravity the way they lean and the Lavenham Guild Hall is well worth a visit.
The only minus to this site is the noise from the A14. If the wind is in the wrong direction it is very noisy - if it is in the right direction you can't hear it. Has this put us off? No. We will definitely come back again as there are so many things to do around the area we can put up with the A14.

My wife and I stayed for seven nights on this excellent site. The welcome was extremely friendly and the site itself was immaculate. It was the easiest pitch I have ever set up on and the facilities were second to none. We hope to be visiting again in February next year. There was a bit of road noise from the A14 but quite honestly it wasn't noticeable after a couple of hours. I would recommend this site to any one. Make sure you bring adequate supplies as the local garage charged me £6 for 2litres of milk a newspaper and a small tub of margerine.

Great site, we had a pitch at the end of the site near to the A14, there was road noise, and my wife is sensitive to noise, second night she heard it but first was ok, maybe the wind direction. Also heard some planes or helicopters in the morning, that is the down side, we were there just 2 nights.
Even with the road noise we would go again.
Now to balance, the Fox and Hounds in the village is a must if you like beer, 5 real ales, or Food, the prices mainly £8. 95, I had a 10 oz smoked Gammon (£10. 95)and something was right to such an extent that I could not finish all the food, and my wife thinks that has happened only a handful of times in the 22 years we have been together.
Pub Staff were very pleasant but it has been Suffolk pub of the year for years so expect it to be SPOTY 2012.
Back to the site showers etc first class, the temporary site managers( owners on holiday) were excellent.
I have marked site location down because of the noise

Perfect standard campsite, stayed in a group of 8 in 4 tents for a long weekend on the bank holiday
The owners were very friendly and always seemed to be around. Facilities were exactly what you need, 3 showers many loos for male and female along with good disabled facilities, there never seemed to be a queue for the showers either.
The site is just off the main road so well situated, but with this comes the road noise but that is the only negative I can think of.
Will definitely be going back !

This site is welcoming and very well maintained. This is our second visit to this site and we would not hesitate to recommend in all areas apart from some background road noise.
The wi-fi connection is a real plus and security on site enables a relaxing and well catered-for holiday.
The site is clearly organised into two distinct areas, one for families and the other area nearer to the road for strictly adults only. The rules are made clear on arrival.

We stayed here for a week in July and had an excellent stay. The site is ideally located just of the A14, with no country lanes to negotiate. The site itself is well laid out with both a family section and separate adults only.
The pitches are generous and well maintained and the facilities are excellent some of the best we have come across. Some people have commented on the noise from the A14 but this was not an issue for us, yes you could hear the noise but it was more soothing than annoying.
From the site there are numerous walks around the local area all of which are clearly written in a site leaflet; the road from the site is rather busy so care needs to be taken until you reach the by roads and from there it is a pleasant walk with lovely countryside.
If you want to travel further afield to the coast - Southwold and Felixstowe - are less than an hour away by car and worth a visit. Tesco's supermarket is 6 miles away where you can also get fuel. All in all an excellent site which I would highly recommend.

We visited this site for half-term week. The facilities were excellent, especially the showers and the free wi-fi, which was the best reception we have ever experienced on a campsite - we could even stream live tv and films.
The owners were very friendly and helpful.
15 min walk to the local train station, although not all on pavements. It was a bit unfortunate that due to the shocking weather, we did not get to fully explore by bike, but there appeared to be a straightforward route into Bury St Edmunds. The owner gave excellent directions to the park and ride in Bury, which has a handful of designated motorhome spots, which was great.
The site is very accessible from the main A-road, and easily accessible to local attractions, including Newmarket Racecourse, which was approx half an hour away. The local train station was also on a decent line, with regular trains into Cambridge.
There are a couple of pubs within a mile or so (in opposite directions), but again, the lack of pavements mean that walking to either should probably be avoided when it gets dark. The noise from the A14 was no problem at all. We couldn't even hear it.
All in all, a great site. We'll definitely be back.

We stayed here over the Jubilee BH and had an excellent time. The owners could not be more helpful.
Toilet facilities were first class as was the general upkeep of the site. Local bus to Bury St Edmunds stops outside the site both ways. Nice walks after you get off the local road. Very good chip shop in the village by the station.
Previous comments have been made about the A14, we were never affected by road noise but the slip rd made it very easy to find the site and to tour about.
We would highly recommend this site.

Lovely site with first class facilities, booked that day and was given a hard standing plot owing to the recent heavy rain. However the site was drying out well and the grass area looked very even and flat.
The shower block was spotless with a long running shower that didn't need starting every 30 seconds.
Owner of the site friendly and was able to provide advice on the local pubs and which one we would be able to get into to eat as it was a Friday evening
We ended up at the White Horse which is about 1/2 a mile away. We decided to take the motorhome as the road to the pub has no footpath at the start and is a 60 mph speed limit. The White Horse though has a large carpark and it was no problem parking, food was excellent and staff very chatty we will be revisiting this pub.
Previous posts mention road noise but it didn't keep us up

What a little gem of a site!
We were so pleased to find The Dell as it means that we are now able to bring our 'van when we come to visit our daughter who lives nearby. The pitches are spacious and there are lovely views over the countryside.
Although close to the A14, the lie of the land means virtually no road noise.
The facility block is all new and is very well presented. It even has a proper bathroom which is a real luxury on such a small site. The Laundry is excellent, easy to use and with sensible costs.
The owners are to be complimented on the way they have organised the park and we hope to be back next year.
