This was our first camping trip as a family and we were very excited about staying here due to the good reviews left on here. We booked 4 nights mid August 2012.
Needless to say were not disappointed!
When we arrived we checked in at reception and the warden immediately came out to show us to the field and pitch. The reception had told us that we were in the first field which was right next to the boat area. Straight away the warden noticed we had a 1 month old baby and proceeded to ask us how long we were staying. He explained that the initial pitch wouldn't be suitable for us and took us to the next field and gave us a large pitch near to the toilet blocks. We considered this to be extremely thoughtful, he then informed us of the park rules and advice on how to pitch our tent as this was our first time - he also lent a gas bottle wrench to use as we had forgotten ours. The grass pitch was not water-logged at all even though there had been steady rain for a couple of days previously.
The shop was well stocked although maybe a little pricey but this seemed quite in line with the local shops in Benllech. We declined to use this for provisions but our 6 yr old boy loved the sweet selection!
The bar was very expensive and we only used it on one occasion for drinks when some of our family came over for the 2nd day. The lady behind the bar was lovely and friendly although maybe a little stressed as she was the only one working, some other customers were getting quite annoyed at the 10 min wait to be served.
The play area was brilliant. Our 6 yr old instantly made friends and was close enough to our pitch for him to walk there with his new friends. The beach was fantastic too. As its a bay, not only is it sheltered but the sea is relatively calm and quite shallow with amazing rock pools and soft sand. We noticed that it is classed as a private beach for the campsite patrons but this didn't seem true. The car park was extremely busy on the hot days as was the beach. As this is a main selling point on their website and obviously the site fees reflect this, we felt a little cheated. If we were a little more frugal we would maybe next year book at a cheaper site in Benllech and just visit St David's for a day on the beach :o)
The toilet block was very clean and we had no complaints about this. Unfortunately we have to agree with a previous reviewer that 2 sinks are definitely not enough for the amount of tents and caravans there. Especially if you are waiting for inconsiderate people who have finished washing but proceeded to dry their pots over the sink when there is a massive queue!
We really enjoyed staying here but probably won't return. Some of the site rules seemed a little too strict for instance, no gazebos or kites and also we felt the site fees quite expensive.

First time we have been camping and choose St David's after reading the reviews on this site.
Found the site to be a described and couldn't fault it.
The beach was fantastic and the views were really beautiful, on site the facilities were perfectly adequate for our needs.
We found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly, the warden even offered to help us pitch our tent.
I would recommend you book for a meal before 2pm at the on site pub, but the little restaurant before the Ship Inn just down the road was fantastic.

Stayed a few times before, was very glad to see more camping pitches back this year! Over half the field seems to have been restored to tents. Which is great.
Needless to say we had a ball, the location is great, the beach and crabbing pools brill for the kids and we found the shower block to be clean.
The big improvement for me was restaurant. Had a great night there. Only downer was two sinks for washing the pots isn't enough guys!

Have been to this site a few times now and although we find the staff very unwelcoming (apart from the shop), we love the site and as we don't tend to need the staff it has never put us off. This time however we were really disappointed. The weather was horrendous (not the sites fault) and we really needed a gazebo to be able to cook under but the strict rules of the site are no gazebos which meant we couldn't cook so had to go out (not to the Tavern as we went there once and found it highly overpriced and not particularly nice). I think the site needs to be a bit more considerate to holiday makers and allow gazebos.
The toilet block was not particularly clean - obviously the weather didn't help (people walking in wet grass etc)' but round the taps of the sinks needed a good clean and at least 3 times there was no toilet paper in the loo - not good when you have a 3 year old doing a number 2!
As the weather was so bad I needed to do a wash. The fact that there is a launderette is great but after I had washed the clothes I put the clothes in the dryer and lo and behold it wasn't working. I thought it may not be plugged in so asked at reception but according to the receptionist they were waiting for parts. Surely an 'out of order' sign would have been helpful - everyone saw the weather during the jubilee weekend so how was I supposed to dry the clothes? If I would have known that before I put a wash in I wouldn't have bothered washing!
On the plus side the area is great, the play area kept the kids busy (even in the rain) and access to the beach is great. Unfortunately our experience with the site this time has left me disappointed and we shall look for sites who are a bit more relaxed and welcoming.

This is the fourth time we have visited St Davids, sadly maybe the last. Tent pitch with EHU. The positives are amazing: the beach is clean and safe and fantastic for children for body boarding, rockpooling, kites etc. Literally a stones throw away from site.
The toilet block is spacious, never waited, could do with a bench in every shower but some stools are available. Family bathroom gets very steamy but is a help with a small family.
Tide permitting its a lovely walk to the Ship Inn in the Bay.
As caravans now cover the old camping field , the tents are a few pitches next to where the boats are stored - parked with the boats came the tractors which took the boats to and from the sea each day and emitted tons of black smoke into the adjoining tents! Despite plenty of rules including quiet after 11- no one was there to police as the younger caravan occupiers stayed partying and shouting till the early hours.
If you don't mind the noise its a fantastic site for the beach and location within a quick drive to Caernarfon and Snowdon. Don't forget to visit Pete's Eats in LLanberis for the best cup of tea for miles and some good quality grub for walkers and anyone passing.

Not too much to add to the other reviews. We stayed for two nights and loved the site, we didn't find the rules too strict ( except maybe the no kites).
A firm favourite with our children was the beach and nature walk. The bar allows parents to sit with 'refreshments ' while watching the children play on either the beach or the play area. The staff were very friendly.
My only complaint was difficult access with a touring caravan due to a poorly sited stone roundabout by reception. However aside from this it's a great site and we will definitely return.

We stayed here for 2 nights Friday Saturday in march. Location was perfect right overlooking the beach and small walks from local pubs and village of Benllech.
Showers and toilets were about a 7 out of ten but very clean.
Pitches were ok but could of been more level (don't forget your blocks if you have a caravan )
Clubhouse/restaurant served really decent food at not over the top prices and it is on a lovely spot overlooking the beach. Drink prices was very very overpriced though £3.80 for a pint of black sheep bitter!
Can walk into Benllech along the beach when the tide is out. Found a rugby club just at the top of the hill from centre which served cheap drinks and had all the sky sports for the games and was surprisingly friendly atmosphere.
Not too far from shops about mile or 2 to spar and co op and we also found a Waitrose in menai bridge which is 15 min drive max.
Would definitely return again as the location is so perfect.

Went to visit the campsite prior to the holiday. It looked a lovely site and the upper field was ideal as it was in a quiet location. I took some information from the reception area and the following day I booked for 3 nights
On arrival it was wet and windy, however I did manage to erect the tent in a sheltered area. The ground was ideal for pegging the guy ropes. The view was spectacular and it was so peaceful.
Must admit I do like my peace and quiet, however should you wish to be in the hub of it all, best to pitch your tent near the coast in the main field, technically we were in the overspill field, mind you, it suited us just fine.
The facilities were good and the main block (toilets, showers and washing facilities) were very clean. In the overspill field we also had access to the portable loo. There was no restriction with regard to where you pitched your tent, it was great to have that freedom, luckily the field only had 5 tents in it, I can imagine it may be a different story should the field be operating at its capacity.
The weather improved and because we were enjoying it so much we decided to stay an extra night. I can honestly say, the location was idyllic, sandy beaches stretching out in the bay punctured by one or two rock pools.
The campsite has a family atmosphere, and the few strict rules the campsite had ensured that the rowdy element were discouraged. A definite thumbs up for me.

Stayed for 3 nights 21st to 24th Aug (having visited the site last year too). Weather was mixed but the site seems to be pretty windy all the time. The showers and toilets are quite good and the shop staff were very helpful and friendly.
The Tavern on site has fab views and there is a decent menu, the food when it arrived was just a 6 or 7 out of 10 and the poor man behind the bar was just overworked! What this site has in its favour is the location.Straight on to the beach!
Beautiful on a good day and in the evenings, you can BBQ or just gaze at the sunset. A short walk along the beach in one direction takes you to a little cafe/restaurant that's open until 9pm and in the other direction (during low tide) you get to the Ship Inn and a restaurant called Upstairs which looked to have a good menu.
The downsides to the site were the flood lights which were on all night, the pitch sizes are on the small side and could do with being marked out - and you get one security card which is to get into both the touring park and the toilet/shower block.
The latter is really inconvenient if you are in a party of more than one! You have to take it in turns or hang around waiting for someone to come out.

Just came back from staying here, and it has changed from last year!
Caravans have taken over field 3 and are now all squashed into field 2 along with caravans that have taken up all the sea view positions.
It was 32 per night with or without electric. Also, they now will not accept tents larger than 6 berth so were relieved that we had took our small tent!
Having no barking dogs around was great, also meant inconsiderate dog owners who don't pick up afterwards left the place free of dog mess!
The beach is fab fab fab
The toilets have had a refit from last year and are lovely and clean and the family room is great for containing toddlers.
Lovely site and definitely will go back again.
