Just returned from 6 nights at St Davids. Could not fault the location, 50 yds from the tent to the beach! We were located in field 2, as we required electric hookup, and as a few others have suggested before us, beware of the hidden hard layer below the turf and the high chance of a bent peg or two.

Very safe environment for kids, play area was in sight and the beach area was big so no chance of overcrowding. The rocks gave little kids and big kids plenty to look at when tide was out.

The only two things we would like to see improve is the washing up area, there's only 2 sinks for 2 large fields of tents, so you may have to wait your turn. Also an outside shower to rinse off anyone who had been to the beach would be handy, a few showers were left with their own beach by the evening.

Overall a campsite we'd definitely recommend to others.

The view (from tent pitch nr. 3) was very nice. The facilities were good. The weather was unfortunately very bad. We found 28 pound for one night a lot for 2 persons with a small tent. The lady of the reception told us it was the same price for a tent with two persons as it was for a tent with 6 persons, what we did not find very fair.

Site is very picturesque with fabulous views and right by a very shallow beach.

We arrived at around 1.30pm on the Friday of the bank holiday weekend. The site was very wet after a torrential downpour and drainage clearly not great. We pitched our tent in a reasonable place and went off to eat. Came back and found someone had pitched about 8 feet away from us. For £28 per night I feel they should be better organised and have pitches / wardens to monitor arrivals.

Toilet / shower facilities are good but insufficient for the volume of campers.

The on site tavern sells very good food but the staff were unable to deal with the breakfast service on Monday morning.

Just come back from a 3 night stay at this site. Tempted to say it was terrible, just to put people off going so it will be nice and quiet for us! That however would be unfair, this was one of the best sites we have stayed at. Picturesque scenery - you can see the sea from virtually anywhere on the site, great shower block, access to beach (huge spaces of sand to play), plenty of room for children to run around safely.

Nearby village of Benllech looks to have reasonable facilities: a few pubs (we didn't try any); two small supermarkets; a pharmacy and a couple of chippies. You can walk to Benllech along the beach (20 mins) or drive (about 5 mins).

Only downsides were: only being allocated one access card for the barrier and showerblocks (family members need to shower in relay.) and the site can get EXTREMELY windy (being on the headland).

Tavern on site does reasonable grub. We got good service one night and slightly random service the other.

Went here for the 3rd time, having gone there twice last year. So obviously I can recommend the site!

The shower block is top notch, but that's part of what you pay top price for.

The setting is outstanding - beautiful scenery and the beach on your doorstep.

Didn't eat at the on site pub - last year we weren't impressed by the food/prices. However, it's been done up this year, so maybe it would be worth another visit -and they now do breakfasts.

One downside is the positioning of the electric hookups - which are only available on the worst pitches on the site, right next to a slipway where boat owners seem to like to sit and rev their engines for lengthy periods.

Also - take rock pegs. The site is a filled in quarry, and you soon hit hard ground under the 2 inches of topsoil!

Finally - be warned - the site is very exposed, particularly near the headland. More than one tent went over while we were there - ours only survived because of the rock pegs!

Stayed at St Davids for our second ever camping trip and found the site using this web site.

To say we were impressed with St Davids would be an understatement! Absolutely fantastic!

The park is very clean with the bins emptied frequently, the views astounding and the beach was clean and provided hours of fun.

If you book for this site you will not regret it. You will however be slightly taken aback by the price per night when you enquire as I was. BUT.

For what you get it is definitely worth paying for. The only cost is the fee per night for the pitch as you get as much use of the shower block (which is very clean, warm, well maintained and presented) as you choose with no buying tokens etc as its included, the use of the kids play ground, the great views and free use of the private clean rock pool/sand beach!

The sites fields are great with a number to choose from, all being relatively level. The only advice I would give about pitching would be to not be tempted to pitch right near the edge of the field next to the sea as it is quite exposed in extreme weather. The edges and side next to the cliff give added protection from the elements.

The shop is open long hours, has a decent selection of items at quite reasonable prices and offers a freeze your ice packs for 20p each service and also has blocks for hire for when they are freezing yours.

The Tavern is nice if not a little expensive but is a great addition to the site and we enjoyed our visit.

The beach is clean and has the great added aspect of being comprised of rock pools around the outside edges with a huge sand are for play and sand castle building. My daughter and I built sand castles, played in the sea and caught gobies, shrimps as well as baby flat fish (plaice??) which she simply loved.

The site was not overly busy making it a relaxed atmosphere for new campers who had not had the chance to practice pitching their new large tent.

The only down side was that the seagulls did seem to start making quite a loud racket every morning, early, only quietening down as the morning progressed.

As a parent, the security barriers at the front gates to the site gave us a real sense of security as I have not seen this at other sites. The toilet block access is also restricted to the same security card that you are issued with on arrival.

I definitely will be making this our choice place to stay from now on, as this is a gem of a find in my opinion, with the benefit of being part of an island with lots to do as well as lots of other great clean beaches.

Looking forward to our next visit in a months time.

Just come back from a seven night stay with husband, 6 yr old son and 3 yr old daughter. Our pitch was on field two with hook-up, there are just ten of these pitches. When pitching, the pegs hit a shingle layer about three inches down but we managed to hammer the pegs in ok. There is also a slight slope but nothing unmanageable.

The facilities were good, very clean and well maintained amenity block. 5 showers, 5 or 6 toilets and 2 washing basins for dishes. There was also a separate bathroom, with bath, for families. All of this was ample until on our last day when the site filled up and I had to queue for a shower in the morning and to wash dishes.

The views are lovely and being only a minutes walk from a lovely beach is superb, the tide does go out quite far though.

There is a play area but only the swings are suitable for toddlers as the rest of it is too big a stretch for little ones.

There is a little shop for basics and toys. I paid 95p for a two-pint milk but they only ever had white bread.

My only major criticism is the Tavern, stay away. We called in at about 4pm for tea and a scone, we had drank our tea by the time the scones turned up and they were TOASTED beyond all recognition, and for 4 people it cost £13.

Benllech has a good co-op, spar, cash machine and cantonese take-away. We would also recommend Pili Palas (Butterfly Park), we spent 6 hours there.

We would recommend a stay.

Our second stay at this lovely site, which is right next to the beautiful Red Wharf Bay. The site is very well maintained and the shower blocks are excellent, always clean. We rolled up at 7pm on a Friday which was a bit of a mistake as all the best pitches had gone. The private beach is lovely and very safe for young children, as is the site in general. The shop is fairly well equipped. A bit pricey at £26 a night but you are paying for the location and in our opinion it is well worth it.

We had lunch at The Ship Inn, which is a short walk along the beach. There is a feeling of being ripped off and an evening meal would set you back at least £25 a head with drinks but lunch was just about affordable! The nearest village is Benllech a short walk away which has a few shops etc - nothing special though. This site is best for taking your own food and drink and just chilling. The clubhouse is nice for a drink in the evening and they do takeaway chips which is a bonus (especially when your cooker packs up!)

This was my first family camping trip.

I was very pleased with the facilities St Davids Park had to offer.

The toilet block was very clean and spacious, the showers where very roomy and you never had to wait to use them. The washing up facilities where ample and I seen a warden looking after them on several times over the 2 nights I spent which was impressive.

The wardens where very helpful especially as it was our first visit.

The tavern had very modern interior with outstanding views a little pricey food but good service and tasty food.

The most captivating beach which even in peak time was nearly empty we loved this.

Outstanding views all day!

The only thing which was annoying where the 'showoff's' I have a speed boat look at me!types blasting horns to draw attention I found this quite pathetic mini male egos???

Also I was drawn to this campsite for the after 11pm no noise rule? Well on our first night we where kept awake until gone 1 with loud boozey people with no respect for anyone else. I found this most irritating especially with young children. Once complained to reception I believe the warden fixed the problem? But bar this it was a first class campsite which I would have no queries in recommended it to anyone just hope you don't get nuisance neighbours?

Top tip defo recommend hard ground pegs as the ground has a lot of stone.

I have booked to go again can't wait!

This was my 2nd camping adventure this year and therefore my 2nd ever!

I went to St David's Park with my 2 sons, 9 and 6, for a 2 night stay from 2nd June.

This campsite is simply superb. We arrive at lunch time on Tuesday and had the tent up within 30 minutes, 20 minutes after that we were all in the sea, building sandcastles and playing in the rock pools. We were a 1 minute walk away from the beach.

The weather was fantastic which allowed us to be outdoors having simple fun.

The site was flat but as other reviews state, get some decent pegs, once you have hammered a peg in 2 inches, you hit hard ground.

The toilets and showers were excellent, the small shop on site was quite expensive but had most basics (to be honest, I am not sure how much milk costs anyway but £1.60 for 2 pints seemed expensive to me), the tavern was great for an evening drink and the site was quiet after 10.30pm.

The beach is superb and the 500 metre walk to get an ice-cream was just great.

We went to a pub called The Ship, it was £30 for a drink each and meal, I did not think £10 each was too bad, in fact, the food was pretty good.

The Ship was a 15 minute walk away, just about perfect after a hard day playing.

All in all St David's Park is in an excellent location and I felt value for money. We will be returning during the summer holidays.
